Well this weather forecasting/analysis course is pretty tough. My Air National Guard Unit back in HI is spending a LOT of $$$ to send me here for this year-long course (8 months here in Biloxi, MS, then it's 4 months in Northern FL) and I don't want to go back to my unit looking like a dirtbag. I've only got just over two months left here in Biloxi and I'm maintaining a 90% average. I need to keep up that momentum. ;)

    Hey everyone,

I figured out a way to OC the CPU in the M17x-R2 and it should also apply to the M15x since both systems share the same chipset. Have a look here and give it a try: http://forum.notebookreview.com/6387359-post3271.html I'd be interested in some feedback.

I did that.... it gets the fsb but when i change the 00h and 0c to 29 and 20 and change the fsb laptop freezes...

    Steps i followed.
    1. Open Setfsb.
    2. Change clock generator
    3. get fsb
    4. Change 00h and 0C values to 29 and 20.
    5. Change fsn through with set fsb slider.

The slider isn't supposed to be moved. You OC by changing the offsets. You're almost there.

Wrong tab quad, you have to be in the diagnosis tab. Take a look at the pics in my thread for clarification.

Long shot but try importing this PLL file into your setfsb. It's already there but the offsets are mine: Download ICS9LPRS365BGLF.pll from Sendspace.com - send big files the easy way Go to the creator tab and then click import.

Still the same thing but it was worth a shot... Not sure what i would be missing in my OS or BIOS option that would be disabled causing this...

It's been hit and miss so far. On some systems it populates the registers just fine (like white wizards..he just didn't change the offsets) and others it doesn't do it at all. Pretty strange.

Well its a step in the right direction either way....

Have you contacted the creator of Setfsb ? I did it for the W90 and he got it working for us back in the day but i know he changed his policies since then and he also charges for it now i believe ...

Yeah just keep in mind the values I listed as default are different for you for those 4 other offsets. It doesn't matter though, just switch them to what I have and see what happens to your clock. The worst that will happen is your system will lock up and you'll need to reboot. All of this is still highly experimental so keep that in mind. Right now half the people like Quad are having no luck with it so it's not very reliable. Hopefully Abo will sort it all out. Copy what you see in this picture and then watch your clock.

Interesting... After my third motherboard (2nd if you don't count the dead one) I'm still having the same internet stuttering issues...

I may have to retest this again...

I couldn't possibly have this type of bad luck and get ANOTHER board that is causing the same problem as the first.... right?

yeah i feel that it must be something else, if it was the mobo then it should of been solved with the replacement. have you tried to reformat? i had major connection issue a few weeks ago, and nothing i did fixed it. so i reformatted and have been good ever since. could of been one of my tweaks or registries changes.

Thing is i've tried everything. Drivers, Power settings through the drivers, switching out the 5300 for the 6300, reformatting...

I've even been to a friend's house and, if i remember correctly, it still did it.

Although now, i'm not so sure about that last bit. I'll keep testing things out to get to the bottom of it.

At least the good news is i got this baby up and running. With Stock clocks, MX-3, and stock pads it's idling at 56-62c and went as high as 83c While playing TF2 for the past four or so hours. I can't wait to re-paste once my thermal pads come in.

Also, is trying to get overdrive to work worth it? Isn't it the same outcome with ATI GPU Clock tool?

Changed all the offset values.... Clicked update for each value and after updating everything clicked on apply it reverts the value for 2 offset.. 10 and 0F.. but the values for 00h and 0C remain to what i had changed to .....

do I need to clock setfsb at the end....

EDIT: applied all the offset changes to match the one u have listed joker... and after doing all that when i click set fsb.. it locks up...

Somewhat puzzlingly, I have fixed the audio problems on my M15x. The problem is how it is done... I have to unplug the laptop from the mains. I have no idea why, but the power that the laptop is receiving is interfering somehow with the audio output. 'Tis most perplexing. Guess I'll be sending a question to Chris...

I'm using a surge protected mains extension lead, but not a laptop surge protector (as I assume you're referring to ones which run directly into the laptop).

i think both would be the same, so with the surge protector you are still getting the audio issue? so out of idea bro, have you got anything replaced?

Yep. I've tried a non-surge protected one as well, both have the same problem. I've tried changing the power modes between High Performance, Power Saver and Balanced hoping that might do something, but it didn't. I think it could be related to my Graphics card, as the same problem happens in Stealth Mode, as well as manually reducing the clocks.

The drivers that I installed yesterday were working perfectly, but now they seem to have made it worse.

I've had nothing replaced, everything is exactly the same as it was, and as always, the inbuilt speakers are unaffected.

To the post above, I would assume so, as the PS3 uses 2.5inch laptop HDDs (not sure about SSDs, but it's worth a try). If not, just sell it.

For those that have a 920XM, can't you OC it with the ELeet software tool?
I don't see the FSB as a good tool.
On the ELeet program can you change the voltage too?

    Any Ideas?

its definitely power play... its downclocking ur GPU to 2d clocks.... u can disable the power play from ATI CC... but will result in higher idle temp...

Wait, powerplay was disabled. But when I enabled it, it went 625/1000.

I dont think it likes having powerplay disabled.

When playing games it would report the 299/400 clock rates despite playing Blur at highest settings with full anti-aliasing at 1080p.

Will see if I can overclock properly now. Thanks Wizard and Inap
