I installed my Clevo card with the A05 bios, card worked fine. I removed it and installed the AW 5870, card worked fine. I then updated the bios to A06 and the AW 5870 was still functional. I installed the Clevo card back in and I was getting lock ups. The OS would actually still load, you can hear the startup sound but it would get stuck during the boot screen. So I downgraded to A05 and poof the card worked again. Could be coincidental I just don't know why it was giving me issues. The Bios change was the first thing I did because that was my only change to the system.

Regarding sound over DP I have nothing that accepts DP to test with. Should converting it to HDMI work?

vbios on the Clevo card may be different and the ID string is dysfunctional

Well it looks like it works for Wattos so I don't know why my card was acting like that.

The driver checks Vbioses and id's

check your main board numbers and see if there is a variant

Ok so i just ran Futuremark with different drivers 197.45 as i don't need a dpc fix for audio as there is one the doesn't need a specific driver. while running i was getting much higher fps and also the temp reach the 10min level of 79c and then 80c at only 5min. should i redo my thermal paste to be sure its correct?

yes, I actually meant the HDMI adapter and sound. For me, the ati drivers keep telling me that I have a DVI connection instead of a hdmi and that sound is not available.

Yes for the Dell cards I had to over-volt. 1.05v won't cut it. For both cards anything over 1.15v doesn't work. The Dell cards BSOD and the Clevo cards down-clock.

i flashed it with the vbios you gave me last time. thought is was the same card so i didn't bother saving the original vbios. on last card even with the bios you gave me i had no overdrive or powerplay. i didn't check my ccc before i flashed it so i don't know if overdrive was working or not. :( the only reason i check because i was trying to oc for somebenches but it would crash to a blank screen.

turbo charge that sounds cool. trying to uninstall overdrive and power play right now, even with it disabled, it this seems to be conflicting with clock tools.

I installed these on my machine and the Overdrive is also available ... I had to edit the cfg file to get them installed(like the official 10.6s) but they run nice and Visual quality is nice as well.... They are 10.5s .... They benched identical to the 10.6s but they have some Image quality tweaks which i always enjoy and no performance hit....

What I don't understand is where PowerPlay and Overdrive came from in the first place. I've got the same card as you and presumably the same vbios, but I don't have either one. The only time I have ever seen those options is with the MSI vbios Mandrake made available to us.

I installed them too. No Powerplay or Overdrive. Going to use them for a while, but agree with Mandrake that they look a lot like 10.5. Haven't really given them a chance yet though. Thanks for the steer. New drivers are always worth a test drive.

we threw the magical freezer away ...

although I am at subway right now with it and vantage is installed ...

    a nice -10 in our walk-in freezer

The boost shouldnt be more then 50-100 points so its not really worth it since it is sold already just waiting to send it off.

I just ran FurMark at 1080p, 2x AA for around 4 minutes.
But there's a conflict between the temp readings, GPU-z claims it only got uo to 81.5C while the temp reading on Furmark said I got up to 95C. Which one is right?

    Right now I'm at a 750/1100 overclock.

When in doubt go with the higher number. You can also use a program like HWinfo32 to see what it reports.

After ~5 minutes I got 94 max on HWinfo. I guess FurMark was right. Is this normal, or should I apply some new thermal paste?
