Should I sell my Clevo 5870 after the RMA and buy a Dell 5850?
-
Might not be a bad idea and then you can possibly have the 5850 added to your existing warranty...
-
Yeah, that way if I do something stupid again, I can just complain to Dell (since I have Complete Care on my M15x).
-
that and you'll get a new 5850 next day
(if it ever dies)
-
What kind of price would make a brand new Clevo MR 5870 with a W870CU heatsink move fast?
I'd be willing to take a loss and sell it for $290 just to move it fast. -
Question about turbo in the BIOS.
Enable or disable for better performance?
So far I can't tell the difference.
RAM voltage in the BIOS leave it stock or does it help to raise it? -
Im sure if you sold it for $290.00 shipped with the Heatsink it should not take to long to sell...
-
Leave turbo on and leave RAM voltage stock.
-
Ok!
Will raising the RAM voltage not make it work?
Burn out? -
no it just doesnt matter since you cant OC yet
-
yeah once you start talking about adjusting the bclk with setfsb then you can try adjusting memory voltage to see if you can get better stability out of your system.
-
right now i'm bugging dell to get my 260m replaced with a 5850, things are looking good, hopefully get some good new by tomorrow or wednesday.
-
Same here
.. hey inap which 5870s is babyhemi selling? the clevos?
-
well, tomorrow Ill have to attack again for a 5850.
yes, babyhemi is selling clevo's, where sound over hdmi doesnt seem to work -
Just got a 9.6k on Vantage.
GPU @ 8955. SO CLOSE TO 9k!!!!! -
you still have to beat 10,067
on the GPU

hey inap.. didn't u get ur 5870 fixed... and sorry guys... been out for a while now,... but i am back... so hows the pll hunt going.... and looks like jstar is back finally...
-
there was only 1 ICS chip on the board but mandrake is trying a hunch and Abo is working with him ....
He is out for the day so who knows -
no got a new 5870, trying to get a 5850 from dell. have to gave them a call. did testing with the 260m, and now it throttles on everything.
-
Those scores are from a 825/1100 overclock. Any higher and Vantage crashes. Probably can't get more than 8.95k.
-
those scores are great considering its the 5850, moo was a 5870.
-
yup im back
.. and if i get 9k with my 5850.. id be happy
-
your getting a 5850 from dell?
-
i think he is still waiting for a response from dell.
-
Yes! I got P9855 and 9253 on GPU.
825/1200 overclock.
I tried going 1300 and then it crashed my computer.
-
wow 1200 memory thats amazing, i find anything over 1150 to be unstable and thats with a 5870.
-
nice score bro
-
Either my 5850 can handle memory clocks well or just the fact that I ran my M15x with a 10k BTU A/C blowing into it's vents.
-
holy Moses awesome cpu score
-
awesome scores miahsol, so is that the max you can push the core? try lowering the memory and just focusing on the core.
-
Pushing the core will require some over-volting for stability.
On a side note, for those looking to buy the 5850 I ordered one on the 5th of July and the delivery has been delayed twice. My current ETA is the 19th. -
wow major delays, probably back ordered
-
Alright, I need some advice- I ran the PCMark Vantage and my score was in the upper 6,000 range. Before running I upped the speeds via AMD's gpu clock tool to 850/1100 and verified that PowerPlay was disabled.
Here's my question- What am I missing that is making my scores on all benchmarkings so low? I may not be an expert at overclocking but something is really wrong to get scores so low. (My 3d06 is in the upper 12,000's) -
PROTIP: Use 3dmark Vantage instead of PCmark Vantage.
-
thewhitewizard Notebook Evangelist
everyone have listed there 3dmark vantage score not PCmark vantage... try 3dmark vantage....
EDIT: U beat me to it Sirhcz0r... -
-
Post GPU-Z and CPU-Z with the Vantage run so we can get a better idea of what's going on.
Also, get ThrottleStop. -
Technically not yet... im waiting for my answer by tues/weds...
but im not accepting no for an answer... so you can say that
man oh man i can't wait to OC that baby... Just ordered a fresh tube of ocz freeze too
-
-
Set GPU-Z so it makes a log, which will make looking for throttling easy.
-
Change the power scheme to high performance also.
-
Run ThrottleStop with the Log File option checked while running a benchmark. It will show you if your CPU has a throttling problem and is not running at full speed.
-
here are my reposted scores, but mandrake killed them all,
hahahha
-
really nice scores inap congrats, the second or third place is for you sure
-
sniff sniff... i smell photoshop... LOLL jk
just bustin \inap
-
hahahah thanks guy, but mandrake already killed these scores by a big margin, using the new throttle stop. waiting for a reply from dell, then i will put back my 5870 and test out the new throttle stop.
-
good luck with this then
-
wow great score mb67!!!! also you may want to resize the pic, alittle too big bro.
-
Thanks.
It makes me wonder if I can get any higher by using different thermal paste, or getting an arctic chiller for it?
