Very nice score but I'd honestly not tempt fate too much. You're bound to blow something up eventually and then no more 5870 for you.

wth. I keep on running vantage with my GPU @ 925/1100 and apparently it scores lower than my 900/1000 or whatever clock. I get 9400 while before i got 9600. o_O
Plus my CPU only gets around 11400 when I know it can get 12200+ cause I've gotten it several times before.

Yup... thats what i was thinking... and im not very much of a benchmarker... i HATE doing them..takes so long and im impatient.... so this will be a one time thing... then never again...

and ill just keep like 900-950/1100 for gaming... or even my stock 850/110 should be good enough

and joker your good at this stuff... i put a mega fan blowing on it... temps never passed 65celcius... is heat the only way these things can fail?

900 for gaming!?!? That's still pretty hefty. I wouldn't risk it and just leave it at stock 700-800. I usually run my 5850 @ 625 when I'm not benching.

Do you really need throttlestop on the i7-820/720 if you aren't experiencing throttling?

And could you post the link to the throttlestop dl?

@ Above, don't really get it, but it reminds me of Saw how that piece of metal is stuck in that persons arm.

I think the reason for my recent lower scores is throttling. When I downclock my GPU to stock clocks, I get "normal" CPU scores again. (12k + scores)

@ Above. Now those are the scores I expected. Nice work man. :p Beats my stock 820 by a good 1.3 seconds.

    WTH!!?!?!?!?!?!!

My GPU easily gets 30 FPS average on the Jane test (and still does), but on the Calico test it got like 27-28 before, but now it only gets 23. Why is this happening?

Plus, I saw 4100-4300 total frames a couple days ago, but now I can get 3800 max in the Calico test.

First thing i'd do is a Bios reset. and see if it returns to normal. but also, might i ask :

    1. what vbios you using?
    2. what clocks you running?
    3. what drivers you using?

I have a question also... righ tnow i have 100/150 for 2d clocks, and 850/1100 for 3d clocks.... is there a way to set up mid-range clocks for desktop use that switch automatically when playing videos n such?

I was previously using a custom one, but apparently it caused throttling so I reverted back to the stock bios. The throttling seems to be fixed, but I have yet to try another benchmark.

It is highly recommended you ALWAYS save the original vbios from the card, and modify a copy of that vbios to your own liking, rather than downloading someone elses "custom vbios" off the net. the idea behind it is simple. You would always start with a clean slate before trying to sculpt it into something. :)

I hope switched back sorted out your issue (whenever you do bench again...)

No, I meant custom as in my own customized one. :p
I think it's cause I pushed the voltage limits to the max.
Just ran it again, got P10043. Both CPU and GPU could definitely of gotten higher. Just need that portable A/C at home and I probably could crank out P10250 easy.

how unlucky. 1 second before the end of New Calico, it crashes. It was gonna be the best score I ever got, I got like 4250 frames in the end, which bested my previous record of 4200. 910/1175 overclock.

Been trying for 30 minutes. Even 1000 crashes now. I'm not even gonna bother with trying to raise the GPU score now. 9.6-9.7k is probably the best I can ask for with the 5850. Now I'm just gonna try to increase the CPU score.

Throttlestop increase the CPU score by 100 and I got 10066.

I've been jealous of J's luckiness, but if you think about it, Dell might have F***** someone elses order up and gave them a 5850 instead of a 5870. Must suck to be the person on the other side of this, if there is one. :/

Sorry for the Delay J, but yeah i live in FL so it's hot as Satan's *** here.

Hmm Did anyone else work with raising their voltage to get higher clocks? My temps are alright but i can't get higher than 850 core without it crashing. Should i switch my drivers to something other than 10.3?

I benched a few times till i got something stable to finish a Vantage run but it's not comparable enough to even post up here lol.

Lol. That's how I got a 925/1175 overclock to run. 1.15 volts. (9400s in vantage)
Though the score was was lower than my 900/1100 @ 1.1 volts cause it throttled I think. (9600s in vantage)

I think 1.1 volts allows for the best balance of max mhz and performance per mhz.

Nice score for real! I'm feeling the pressure lol, everyone's after me now :p I'm pretty smashed tonight, so i think i'll bench in the morning :) lol... see if i can beat my vantage gpu score bright and early

Luck? i call it hard work... took alot of complaining ( ok ok i got REAL lucky too lol... :D my 9cell n new cpu fan came in today...just awesomeness )

how does that old saying go? Only the brakes that squeak get the oil? ;)

try 10.5 ... and my benches were done at 1.15v

1.15v is my gspot... all this talk is ACTUALLY making me want to bench .. maybe even tonight :p

I need to try using 10.4/10.5 sometime cause 1.15v really messes up my scores. :/
    I'm using 10.6 ATM.

Anyone else care to provide HWinfo benchmark numbers for the CPU? I wanna know how mine stacks up in comparison.
