the texture fillrate, pixel fillrate & bandwith, they change accordingly when you change the default clock?

AC, you're also comparing your card at 625/1000 to my card at 750/1050, but I was comparing my scores to your scores for your 750/1050 run. The only differences are a direct result of the clock differences. The other difference is the driver designation -- you used the Dell 10.8 driver; I used the ATI 10.8 version. The performance is identical, and I now use the same driver you have. I also ran at default (Performance) settings for Vantage, so no difference there.
-
yes it does change when you oc.
hahah rev you beat today. -
The Revelator Notebook Prophet
I wish there was some easy answer or tweak that would get you back to full performance, but at the moment, none occurs to me except reinstallation of vbios and drivers.
Edit: one of the rare times I happen to hit here before you, Inap. LOL. -
Drivers and Downloads -
The Revelator Notebook Prophet
It's certainly possible. I hope so.
-
check this out, the "previous system" is on stock, whilst the left one is on 750/1050 ( your clock) and we are pretty close dont we?

and I've been getting 86 temp at MAX on 750/1050, is that ok or not? -
The Revelator Notebook Prophet
Edit: A high temp of 86C during a 750/1050 Vantage run is tolerable, but just barely. You will eventually want to redo the paste and pads on the 5850. For purposes of comparison, here is a HWiNFO32 screenshot for a Vantage run I just finished using 750/1050 clocks:
-
rev, that with the core set to 1.15 or less?
-
The Revelator Notebook Prophet
That's at 1.10v.
-
my hyperX ram should be getting here tomorrow, do you think it will make any difference in benches, they are cas7.
-
might want to check the ram's default voltage since some of them prefer higher rating than standard. inap, did you check to see if the heatsinks will fit?
i'm not familiar with the laptop version, but the desktop version came with massive heatsinks and even a fan module. -
Villosa's system
-
thanks faiz, yeah i already know it will work, but haven't seen any benches on them.
-
oh ok, yeah it looks like the heatsinks are much smaller than the desktop variant. /slaps forehead

Before and After on the hyperx pretty pretty please?
Did I mention Please?
Thanks! God I can't wait until Wednesday or Thursday! -
So what kind of benches do you want to see Steven?
-
stevenxowens792 Notebook Virtuoso
Im a dork.. you guys will find out soon enough. I know new mem will most likely not increase or impact your FPS by more than 1 percent but it's always interesting to see what the before and after is on any of the favorite/current games.

That's higher than you would prefer at stock clocks, but certainly not alarming. Just enjoy it for awhile now that it's hitting on all cylinders. Then one day, when the spirit moves you or temps increase with overclocking, open it up and apply new paste to both CPU and GPU, but I don't see any rush.
-
hyperX's officially installed, but too hot and lazy to do any benches, hehehe
-
do the butt dyno lolzz...in the car world you do a mod and if it feels like you are getting thrown back in your seat or your butt dyno then you feel like the mod was worth it. Do you feel like you are flying by the seat of your pants with this mod what does your subconscious tell you....
-
my pants are telling me something else, hahahahah
i know this mod won't do much, but it was cheap and i couldn't resist a great deal, but you already know that.
probably use it for a week or two and resell it. already got offers on my 8gb ram and i didn't even post it up for sell, hahahaahah -
stevenxowens792 Notebook Virtuoso
@Faiz - the butt dyno.. dude you are making me laugh here.. Reminds me of the good ol' days in my new 94 civic ex when they first came out. Put on the cold air, header, exhaust and give it the BUTT DYNO to see how much faster it is... I guess that really is a good comparison to "feel" of system speed without official benchmarks..
Rep for you.. for pure nostalgia. Best Wishes, StevenX -
Who would do such a thing!!ahahaha
-
here are some yucky stock runs. 940xm/5850
I ran the 940 @ 25 all across at stock tdp
5850 @ stock 625/1000 @ 1v
benching @ stock doesn't feel right, hehehehe
if others would help out, DaneGRClose is putting together a chart of all configs @ stock, so newer members will have a simple chart to compare to.Attached Files:

Wife or girlfriend? LOL.

if that was my wife or gf, I wouldn't be chilling on this forum, hahahaha
just some eye candy to make the day go by faster, heheh -
The Revelator Notebook Prophet
Probably would not need overclocking.

Had not ran this since the 08 bios.... pretty good score! I am running the 920XM and 260M.

Not that anyone cares, but I pushed it a little further!

nice benches doc.!!!!
could you also add you clock info too. -
GPU was 650/1100/1675, CPU was 26, 26, 25, 25, TDP/TDC was 90/75.
-
wow, a 4k different from a 5850...260m is great....
-
4K? What is the normal score for a 5850?

Thanks for the stock score post on the last page Inap. As he said if everyone can post a stock run for me so I can get a chart thrown together to help newb's and people considering buying the m15x it would be appreciated! Thanks!

Here's my first post of benches: Vantage, Stock i5-540m, 850/1200 clocks on stock voltage and stock vbios.
Vantage Run Stock Voltage -
impressive gpu score Dane.

Thanks I think I can push it a bit further without having to mess with the voltage and everything seems very stable, the thing that confuses me is this card is a refurb that idle shader temps that are in the 60's even though core and ram are in the 40's. Even with the high idle shader temps nothing has broken mid 70's even full load with the oc. Starting to wonder if me pushing it that far without messing with voltages may have anything to do with running a low watt i5. May have to make a run at your 5850 record later tonight if it's still what I saw on the boards Inap!
-
haven't had time for benches lately but i think this is the best one i have.

So it is higher than what it showed on the bench board, ok still gonna make a run at it but got a different number to shoot for and may need some a/c for that number, lol.
-
i can't push my 5870 past 900 without raising the vcore to 1.2v and the excess heat means i need an air-conditioner underneath blowing directly on the heatpipes to keep the temps in check.
at 1.15v it crashes during vantage even with low temps (under 60C)
funnily enough, between 1.05v and 1.15v there's almost no difference in max clock... perhaps it's not flashing correctly (clevo ver)? hmmmm tempted to muck around with the msi bios and give that a shot next, but last time i tried, it wasn't working with AGCT. -
same with me when i had the clevo 5870, even at 1.15v i could only push to 950 and thats with extreme cooling.
this is my second 5850 and both could be pushed to 985-990 @ 1.15v -
DaneGRClose Notebook Virtuoso
That's what I was kind of thinking too. Dumb question why is your vram only sitting at 1100? You BSODing at any higher than that with the juiced up core clock or....?
-
DaneGRClose Notebook Virtuoso
Ok, so after some benching I've got some new numbers for Vantage. This is at 1.15v, the clocks shown, and absolutely no cooling other than propping the back up. Thanks go to Rev and Inap. Check it out.

Thanks Inap, your help and Rev's help put me there. I'm gonna need to play with it some more tonight. I think anything beyond this point is gonna require some additional cooling, any higher on the core or vram and it would freeze about 1 min from the end of the last gpu test. I think I can take your score but it's gonna take some tinkering. Your score and mine should prove that the 5850 is an amazing card if nothing else.
