Yeah, it's quite buggy, it's the french site. Anyway, i'm just gonna wait till the evening(it's 11am here)
-
It looks like the French EPP site which is a good thing. I can't find this on the US site (4am Chicago gotta go get ready for work)
-
Wow.. this is some mad pricing I must say, I did expect quite a price tag but I think this takes the price so to speak ;p
Base configs, no upgrades whatsoever (specs
Intel® Core™ 2 Quad Q9000
Vista Home
1 Year Warranty
1440x900 resolution
4GB 1067MHz DDR3
160GB HDD @ 7200
1 GB GDDR3 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M
DVD+/-RW
9 Cell battery
It does have the Q9000 but do you really think it justifies the price? The base configuration comes to.... 23999 SEK which is equal to $3201 / €2250 / £1961.
I knew it was going to be pricey but... damn I'm seriously hoping for some error on their part
-
It's just the link from the french home page
I'm still quite worried by the price though, seems their dollar:euro conversion ratio is 1:1 :/
Damn, Azuricate, it's even worse than in France... -
On the US site you can downgrade the processor if you don't like the quad options.
-
When I clicked on your link I saw employee purchasing program, that's why I thought it was EPP.
-
Really? That's weird, I can see a nice presentation and description of the M17x after clicking on my link. And i can't downgrade the CPU yet. The default ram is the 1333 Mhz one, and the GPU upgrade options are:
GTX280 sli for 369 euros and
GTX280 sli for 869 euros
Hope they fix it soon. -
Well on the Swedish one you can't downgrade anything, I posted the absolute minimums that comes with the base price.
Edit: Yeah, kreda, it's quite insane.. I do hope it's a type because otherwise there is no way any swede will buy that system... the upgrade prices are insanely high as well and the processor changed make little sense.
Also, QWERTZ keyboard :/ feels kind of bad to pay that much cash and not get QWERTY which is the standard in Sweden.. -
So you can purchase this on the dell website? Man...I might be able to get one of these from my pops
-
I'm sure you can select the keyboard, either on their site or by phoning them. The europe prices are quite insane, the QX9300 costs 1130 euros:/ But let's wait for the official release.
-
Well you can't select it on the site at least, tried that already.
Yeah the prices are quite insane indeed.. switching from Q9000 to T9600 is +€240 here and the upgrade to QX9300 is same price as in France. -
have u guys seen the price for UK? the same system i configure at US site converts to roughly 2500 Pounds, but at the official UK site, the same configuration cost over 3700 Pounds!! this is ridiculous!
-
Configured one on Dell's site but it didn't give an estimated shipping date.
-
hi guys
not sure if this has been posted already but here is a link to a preview of M17x on driver heaven
http://www.driverheaven.net/reviews.php?reviewid=782 -
It did for me yesterday it said 7-6.
-
Thanks for the link! Good stuff.
-
looks like the m17x can be overclocked via the bios
-
Yes!
"For the BIOS Alienware have opted for a standard Phoenix set-up. In addition to the standard BIOS options we can completely disable the GTX 280s rather than allow Hybrid Power/Boost to control them and even perform some overclocking. Available to us is a selection of multipliers as well as the FSB and memory speeds. These can be unlinked just like the desktop Nforce equivalent for easier overclocking." -
Can I double rep ya?? lol!
-
dam it now I have to get 1 lol
-
Take it for what it's worth, but the original color for this system was supposed to be red. For whatever reason, this was eliminated and they went with black and silver instead.
My question... would you have liked an all-red M17x or would that be too flashy for you? -
I plan on ordering one today but I can't help but wonder why there are no extreme dual core procs currently listed. I'll load up everything but the proc.
-
Some would like it. I still prefer black.
-
If it makes you feel better it's not even on the Dell front page yet on the US site. Looks like the euro sites are up and running with the new system. 2.5 more hours....tick tock.
No SSD options either on the Euro site. -
Yeah, the European prices are pretty bad compared to the US. But that is always the case really.
-
Aristotelhs2060 Notebook Virtuoso
did you find the new alienware m17 on a uk site possible to order in uk please give a link
-
-
Aristotelhs2060 Notebook Virtuoso
i mean a link with preorder or customization of the new alienware m17 . the link you gave me is general. i cant find the new alienware at all. even the old one.
the uk alienware just sucks. the prices are terrifying everyone. so noone will ever buy from there except some rich people. if you check you will see that there even no option for dual 3870s on the old alienware m17 as on the us site. i wish it would close and never open again. -
Sorry I have M17x on the brain.
-
Thanks Coma for that review link.
Just a heads-up to people: Since that was the pre-production model being reviewed it doesn't necessarily mean that the production model will have unlocked multipliers in BIOS. -
that is the correct link just click on customise
-
Wouldn't that be a downer. Won't stop me from ordering it.
-
allpowerful.com changed.
-
Now up and running in the US
http://www.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/laptop-alienware-m17x?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19
Still no dual core extreme...oh well. -
not... really.
-
I think you are confusing the models. The 'new' model is the M17x. That is now on the Alienware UK site (but directs to Dell when you click it).
The 'old' M17x is now gone from the UK Alienware site, as of today.
The current M17 (with Ati 3870s) is still on the Alienware site as normal. -
I think they finally realized the count down was useless now with all the info on the web about the M17x.
-
I wonder what signing up at allpowerful.com was supposed to get you? I signed up with only the few days left but didn't get any emails.
They should send me a nice 20% off coupon for being such a loyal fanboi.
-
Hmmm. after all that debate it's just 1 laptop. I won't complain.
-
EPP is now up....ordering...
-
This !@#$ing sucks. I have an Alienware Titanium Account that I can use to order this laptop... but Dell's site won't accept it. :| It *ONLY* accepts Dell Preferred Accounts. :| So I have an Alienware credit line I can't use to buy an Alienware laptop? REALLY?
I'm so angry right now. -
So anyone get a code for the Restricted Materials link on the all powerful site?
-
The complete care warranty option isn't there. Kind of a bummer.
OK...I have to stop they're obviously not done updating the site yet. -
contact AW-James, -Armando, or -Rose. they should be able to do something about that.
-
Nameplate isn't there for EPP customers either. That normal?
-
WOOT! The two overclocking options are unlocked multipliers in the BIOS.
http://www.dell.com/content/topics/...rnmore-processor?c=us&l=en&s=gen&~lt=bodyonly
-
Well it would be a first for Dell, who knows. Going through EPP and DPA (credit card) I would get 11% off. DPA is showing up as 4% off.
-
Aww, its dual channel DDR3 ram
isnt there laptop ram models that are trip channel? -
Megacharge Custom User Title
