-

...and Im going to mod that laptop with a thumbprint scanner, mark mah words -
.......nope no military discount ....
-
You're absolutely nuts. Why not buy me a used car or three instead? lol -
Well... I have a state competition today(from now till 10PM), Just ordered the m17x. I am going to be thinking of the m17x all day. Also checking this forum every 5 mins on my Storm. SO if anything cool develops...Say in here!
-
8GB RAM
Upgraded the display
500GB SSD (2 x 256)
280m SLI
TV Tuner
I was going to get my own RAM & CPU...but it would save me only about $600. Might as well get it fully spec'd out by alienware as long as the price is that high. Not to mention, we don't really know how easy it is to mod, or even if my clumsiness could handle replacing a processor -
only 600?!!! thats alot of money to save!!!
-
can you get an EPP discount for this ... any i have an Alienware Credit Card account but i dont see where i can order this directly from alienware , it takes me to the dell website .. i know they merged but i was told that dell has there own credit card account as well...
-
-
I'm in the same boat, too. I was going to use my EPP to buy the laptop, but... I can't. :| -

How much better is the dual 280's over then dual 260's?
-
Any info on the battery?
-
9cell, 85W/h.
-
OK, looks like they went with a dual-CCFL backlight screen, which is listed as daylight-viewable on their Precision models that offer it (but that's without the mirrored glass in front). The extra brightness should help some with the glare off the edge-to-edge display.
-
Just FYI, these are the tech specs of these cards.
Just ignore the 160M -
forgot to give my info for nameplate. Now I am on the phone experiencing firsthand how frustrating Dell support is!
-
If you are a member of the U.S. military, you have access to the AAFES (military exchange) site.
I just went there to compare prices and this is what I found:
Base config for M17X is $1763=$35 less
M17X w/QX9300 and dual 280's=$66 less
And as always when purchasing through AAFES, there are no tax or shipping fees.
So there are indeed military discounts. -
About to order this spec, just looking for my dell discount code

I really dont think you need more than 4 gigs of ram, and if I ever needed more I could just buy it off newegg!
Since there is no x9100 cpu, might as well buy the qx9300, because you can overclock it to 3.0 ghz and up, and you wont get that kind of speed with any of the other options, even the dual cores. -
"6F978-DKCCQT2", i think.
-
that;s what I ordered too Morgotth, but i got the ssd. I have the gskill Falcon 128gb in my desktop and I can't go back to a regular hard drive now.
-
, but nice build!
-
Be glad you're not living in Sweden as that exact setup would've cost: $6668,89 also you would've gotten the QWERTZ keyboard layout. -
im still gritting my teeth and waiting a bit.. now that this is directly through dell ill bet we will even see coupon codes for possibly 15-20% off coming up soon
-
I have to cancel my order and re-order it to redo the nameplate
Oh well. I was too excited ckicking the boxes after I checked my main components! -

@Shuya: T9600 is the much better buy than the T9800. That .13Ghz isn't worth $275.
-
Wow if I wanted one I could use my dell preferred account now!!
-
where can i use the EPP code.. i am having issues .. does anyone know ??
thanks -
yeah i was looking for the epp thing also
-
http://www.dell.com/epp
Then choose one of the drop down options. Didn't need a code. -
I don't understand why Alienware have chosen to use analogue audio outputs instead of one simple SPDIF or Optical digital audio ouput for surround sound. That has put me off buying this laptop. Why have Alienware taken a step backwards and used older audio technology. I thought this was ment to be their latest and greatest laptop.
-
does the free shipping work with epp? and do they still give you the 4% for dpa?
-
^
Yes and Yes -
I was hoping they would ditch the digital volume control for an analogue control.
The analogue volume control has a much finer adjustment. -
-
I used it and in cart saved 300 bucks!
-
man for some reason they are saying my account "expired" i signed up and only ever used it once? is that normal?? im on the phone with them now trying to sign back up but they say i need to start a whole new account arghhhhh
-
I was hoping for an SPDIF shared with the headphones...even my ancient m3200 has that. I guess they assume most people who want digital sound will be using the HDMI connection.
For more info on this beast see this page for manuals.
