I officially ordered my m17x with the specs I stated earlier![]()
-
thank you for the info ...
would you know of anyone who might be able to help ? -
What sub shop you work at Moo?
-
Sorry I don't, but something is sticking in my head from years past.
Doesn't it have something to do with DC voltage being carried on an AC signal?
It's been a very long time since I thought about any of this.
-
Subway whoooooo
-
Ive ordered mine. This time I actually ordered it
Stock specs but sli 280s cus im cheap
-
not too sure on the details ...
anyways thank you ...
-
you didnt get 1200p ?
other wise you will never use more then like 50-60% of you GPU's -
Right on... I have 89 points on my subway card I need to use - that's a free sub!!
EDIT: Inserting comment related to thread here--> the M17x is the bomb lulz pwnge.... -
I didn't get WUXGA. I need this comp for school and text on a WUXGA is a beeotch....
I did love my 1730 WUXGA, though
-
hope dell won't run out of 280m just like m1730 run out of 9800m when people rush in order, then they end up increasing the price like m1730 from 900 to 1200
-
^
Glad I got the 260's then
-
I would LOVE to see a pictures comparison between the black & silver models...without all the special lighting -.-
-
thats why u get WUXGA and then run it at 1440 when you want to and when you game run it @ 1900
-
Ah, the only upside of waiting...looks like if I order in August, I can qualify for the Windows 7 upgrade, and install it once Dell/Alienware has the drivers sorted out.
-
its free now .....
-
Well...the RC, yes
The actual product(when it releases), nope xD -
That free upgrade program is very cool indeed. Someone that got there W90 today got one of those vouchers for a free Win7 upgrade in the box , maybe Alienware will be doing the same thing , dont see why not since the machines will be shipping so close to July 1st when the program is supposed to officially start.
-
That's a pretty sweet deal!
-
LCD's have native resolutions. Running a WUXGA at anything other than 1920 x 1200 is going to look like crap.
It's not like the good ol' CRT days!!! -
no it wont adjust dpi
-
I prefer to run all my games at 1900x1200 when possible. I don't mind giving up a few FPS to play at native resolution.
-
Is complete care worth it?
On a side note I put a student discount on mine its awesome fully specced out with next day shipping for 3631.11. -
DPI won't change the fuzziness of running an LCD at a non-native resolution.
-
Me too. Just I go to school online, which means I'll be staring at this thing for a few hours everyday.
Native res of WXGA+ >>>>> Running WUXGA at non-native res.
IMO, of course
-
Another thing to wait for. They could have really went with the 90 day countdown for how long I'm going to actually delay my purchase.
-
I have to run games at Native period , some people dont mind running out of native but i hate it with a passion .
-
Agree 100000%, quadzilla
-
You drop it they fix it.
I think it's worth it. -
I'm with you on that one!
I didn't pay for WUXGA for reading text. I paid for it to view games and sometimes movies. -
It'd be hard to damage it though with an aluminum chasis
-
AMEN!
I accidentally dropped my old XPS M1710 down some stairs and got a loaded XPS M1730 as a replacement system
-
i was just talkin text ....
i do agree ... in your case thats cool because of your school etc.... i ment just for normal use ...
i was wrongish... -
Well the chassis is magnesium or aluminum. I'm wondering how thick the aluminum case/shell is. Hopefully thick enough to resist dents.
-
No prob, moo...
I mean, how does a cow even know about DPI?!?!?
You must be one of those fancy grass-fed cows, huh??
-
Screen's not aluminum.
You drop a laptop that weights 12lbs it's going to take damage.
Complete care also covers spills, etc.
-
nope dairy .....
the one out in the field eating the grass and nice feed is usually gonna be sold to eat
and rob your right magneisium comprises the chassis and the aluminum shell.... looks pretty thick and solid -
Wow, the complete care option isnt available when I try to buy i through the school member program...
-
You can add warranty terms and options at a later date (via Dells website).
I always go barebones with the warranty at first, then towards the end I'll upgrade to cc and extend. -
Yeah it's been reported that it should be there (along with custom nameplate) in the morning.
-
Ah ok thanks for the update Phinagle
!
-
Thank Mandrake. He made the calls and provided us with the info.
-
Oh well thanks Mandrake for the update
!
-
The name plate is on there already unless your talking about the school site.....
-
can some kind souls please confirm something for me.
If I buy the M17X and have it delivered to me and I am using it.
After 1+ year, when there are better GPU hardware being released
Is there a service where I can buy the new GPU hardware from dell and get them to upgrade it for me on my M17X?
also can some kind souls please tell me what GPU socket the M17X is using?
-
mxm 3.0b
and yes you will be able to upgrade the GPU's -
Did you travel 88 mph before you made that guess?
-
they are mxm 3.0 b why would they not be able to be upgraded?
really went way back on that responce didn't you ? -
Nice one! lol
-
Yeah as long as the Video card partners actually stick with something for more then 10 minutes IE MxM3.0b then an upgrade should be possible. Of course theres always MxM3.0c(couldnt resist)
