While I only found an external one, could the encasing be opened and used internally on this laptop?

 

Personally i'll be happy with silver even with the red coming out the lights would just look weird with the red

The Alienware M17x's video card slot is 8 PCIE MXM 3.0 indeed.

MXM 3.0b has been confirmed some 100 pages ago. It's in the M17x spec manual linked in the first post.

Crap the guy just told me, that the only reason the M17x is seemingly cheap right now is because it is on promotion... The price will go up within the next week or two... And I dont have quite enough yet...

With my Dad's Pepsi employee account I get 7% off 3, 749... so 3486.57, and he said the promotion is about 400-500 dollars off base price right now

 

Umm, somehow I don't think that's true

 

i just did some reseach and i found out the sager m98??mu also uses a 9400m card. so the only difference is the sager uses 3 hdd where the alienware uses 2hdds.

but the con with the sager is it's 18.4 where as the alienware is 17 for those looking for portability.

 

The M17x will use MXM 3.0, I confirmed this today in my meeting. I don't know about the revision though.

The M17x is an absolutely sick machine, those of you who ordered will not regret it. It's head and shoulders better than the M17 and previous M17X. Truly a great product; and you guys know I wouldn't say that without believing it. I've reviewed 30-something gaming notebooks over the past four years and have never used one this awesome.
