Only just found Chaz's thread and posted in it. I had the volume on the player turned up and my speakers at full but had lots of static so it was horrid to listen to. But Chaz's voice makes it that much better.

No, it's a tongue smiley. :p But in WOW I use '=' rather than ':' because it looks better and sometimes it spills over into texts and forums. I apologise. =p

Certainly no apology needed. I'm the one having to catch up.

    Just an FYI:

Alienware-Rose just replied to my PM stating that the ship dates are set for 7/2/09.

So we might be waiting a while after all :(

?I went full black. I like how the silver looks, as duo-tone can compliment itself nicely. However, the problem here is that the M17X is not duo-tone, it's tri-tone. You have to factor in how the colors of the AlienFX contrast against the rest of the laptop, too. A laptop with two primary colors? Good. Three? Not quite so much.

yea thats why with the black you can pretty much use any color on the FX and still look awsome as for the silver prob not

I totally agree Ink, not to mention the black casing makes it look slimmer than it actually is... Have you seen the Video on the homepage from E3, there are just too many features and additions that bring this Laptop above any other... I can't pass up this deal.

I guess thats true if you choose a color that may clash with either the black or silver personally i would love red alienfx with the silver outside and black inside :D

I don't know if I'm breaking rules posting a youtube vid on here, sorry if I am, but have you seen this brief vid of the M17x? Look at the lighting on that thing, that is SICK. I always promised myself not to become a brand fanboy of anything but I think i'm losing my discipline fast ;P

How long did the original M17x last in Alienware as their 17" laptop... and how long do you guys think the new M17x will be a Alienware's standard for 17"... I'm just trying to think since I am going to college next year for virtual technology and design, the first two years I would need only an average strength computer like the Sager 8662... but in my 3rd and 4th year I would want a computer on the top of the line... Do you guys think Alienware will have a completely new and better 17" in two years?

True but the original didn't have upgradeable GPU configurations (MXM 3.0b should be around for a while) So I would think down the line they would put new GPU configs as options, they spent alot of time on this comp, and made a crazy cooling system capable of handling more than 2 280m's.... Btw just curious but how long did the Dell Xps 1730 last, wasn't it quite a few years?

The original m17x was also a pretty bad flop. I don't think it will be the case with the new one.

MrBB: future-proofing is hard but I think this one will set a few good standards and records for a while. Also, as you're in the US you benefit from a pretty competitive pricing strategy compared to people across the pond.

So enjoy it while you can!

I made the plunge for the M17X. Mainly due to the 9400. Battery life is a killer, and while I love my m9750, being able to have extended mobility is the real deal for me on this one. And it's just sexy as all hell.

My m15x has the 9800M GT..........is the single GTX 260M in the M17x equal to or greater in performance?

Will I be able to upgrade the M17x by buying one GTX 260M card or will I have to buy two?

Will the M17x with single GTX 260M performance be equal to or better than the m15x with the 9800M GT ?

I am sorry if this has been discussed........

Greater. It has 112 shader cores (instead of 96) and the clocks are higher all round.

The 260M out performs the 9800M GT. 260M has higher core/shader/memory clocks, and has 112 stream processors compared to the 9800M GT's 96.

Hello everyone, I have been watching this topic for a while now and decided to post.

Once my Dell card is paid off from ordering the studio xps 16 (any day now as payment was sent electronically yesterday) I am taking the plunge.

I have always dreamed of owning an Alienware and for all of the features this thing has, I cant pass it up.

I just wish the payment would post so I can place my order.. lol
Then I will have to wait another month for it to ship.

No I already have the Studio XPS 16.

I need to clear that off the card so I have enough balance to Pay for the m17x.

The only debate I have is what processor. Yes I have read all the topics here and thoughts.. I am thinking either the Q9000 or t9600.. Guess I have time to make up my mind while I wait for the CC to update.

I guess I can always upgrade it manually later.
