hi guys ... told you about the overclocking and im getting extremely angry at idiots that think the clevo m98NU will have i7 and SLI 280's ohhh the AW sucks and is late ..... when this notebook is a world first!!!!!!

Is anyone else getting more and more anxious after every single post on this thread? Can someone from Alienware 'accidentally' leak the prices and specs, etc? I don't wanna have to wait 2.5 more days =*(

 

Moo I don't remember anyone saying the Sager was better than the new
M17x... I think people are just interested to see how Sager will respond to this, it is obvious that some other company will get its hands on if not now the M17x look at it, and improve upon it or on their own systems and top it... it is how it works... I'm getting mey laptop in two months so if there isn't another comparable 17" for a cheaper price by then I'm getting the Alienware... People only talk about sager and stuff here becuase most people cant afford throwing 5k at an alienware for a maxed system

If you spend the bulk of your time docked to AC, the desktop i7 has merit, but still, 130W (compared to the 45W QX9300) is something to consider. There is a world of difference between site to site mobility and actual on the go mobility (IE sitting in a Starbucks being pompous...)

If you like big screens, the M98 has merit
If breathing room internally is an issue, the M98 has merit

I saw the E2E option. Here's hoping they offer the RGB-LED panel from Dell's M6400 line which is just ridiculously gorgeous to the eyes.

 

Me also waiting eagerly for wednesday to make the grand decision on which (Alienware) notebook to purchase. been going crazy and all abt sager and alienware for last 1 month or so ...

 

I spent over a month racking my brain and the interweb for information, trying to decide what kind of M17 to buy... then this gets announced, and it's only gotten worse... especially since this post... I've checked this site like a thousand times in the past couple days... it's killing me!!!!

 

no other people still think the Clevo ( yes clevo is releaseing the m98nu not sager ) all think its i7 and 280 SLI! i visit alot of threads .......

any way trying to get my system sold but i have had 2 offers for the barebones it was only 1000... kinda low ballin me

 

M980nu is SLI Moo.

The D900F is the one with the desktop i7 and the single GTX 280M that people think is SLi.

come on now, Moo... i wouldn't have expected such ignorance from you. clevo is in fact releasing two (well, more than two, but two important) new notebooks - the d900f (17") with desktop Core i7 and a single GTX 280M, and the m980nu, a 18.4" monster with mobile C2D and C2Q Extreme processors and dual GTX 280M in SLI.

 

i know they are releaseing both but people think that some how they both magically had a baby that produced

a i7 and 280 SLI

 

well have to wait and see for the overclocking. the guy i know that works for dell seems to think the x9100 will prob be oc'able but they may lock out the qx9300... they had a meeting about it that he attended. he could very well have been given wrong info since it was a bit early but we will have to wait and see

there was a guy that came back here a while ago and he said both cpu's ...

it looks like it can take the heat


i thought he said a .3 and a .5 overclock

thats the only reason i thought for sure on the overclocking.


You will only be able to use SetFSB if some one finds the PLL and the creator can mod it to work

overclocking is makeing your cpu go faster like

2.53ghz to 3 ghz

(simple version)

i can achieve a 20% boost in speed with overclocking.

 

Its a very big deal to some of us and nothing will be exploding .

 

unless the cooling isn't sufficient. then, your laptop will in fact explode.

 

Whizzo take a look at the bottom im trying to figure out the placement of the GPU's.

the 2 vents on the left and right each one has a fan. So im thinking that where the gpu's are but they are so far apart.

the middle has a huge fan .... but i would think they would seperate the GPU's in this laptop and use seperate fans.

Whats your take?

also take a look at the center fan its huge. It looks like its for the CPU and 9400m. But i see no vents to go out the back so im wondering does it force the air out the mesh on the bottom?

 

i was actually wondering the same thing. having a GPU in each corner and the CPU in the middle would be pretty clean and slick as far as engineering goes. however, you'd then have to run an SLI ribbon through the whole chassis... unless it's integrated into the mobo. since the middle fan is a single one (and not nearly large enough to cool two GTX 280Ms), i would have to think the GPUs are in the corners and the processor is in the middle. what do you think?

great minds think alike. With all that room in that monster a cable wouldn't be hard. The built in the MOBO would be possible but i think a cable is the way they will go. Imma study it and see if i can see one.

im wondering where the air from the central fan will go. No vents in the back means straight down but that would heat every thing up else.

that picture is impossible.... In the bottom right and left there is silver part but i think its part of the heat sink.

btw there is no vent on the back the air is pushed straight down

not quite correct. look closely, the back is one big vent. you can just make out the grill pattern.

 

someone give a pic of the videocard modules in this system if they can.

Unless the pre-production model being shown is the starter set-up with one GPU and therefore only one GPU fan in the center.

I can only make out what could be one fan in the center and part of a cooling pipe under the "Not For Sale" sticker.

1 280GTX should be able to play basicly every game, if i am not mistaken. Though no crysis on ultra high and and a few others on ultra high. Im going 280GTX higher res keyboard and hopefully a T9550 or T9600.

 

scytus if you do not stop i will ask a mod to handle the issue, sorry to be harsh but its quite annoying.
