If you know how to change local policy Microsoft already provides a baseline security policy that does it also.
On a side note, when are all the new accessories coming?? -
Aye, the mouse looks sick..just to me at least. Or if anyone has a good suggestion for the mouse. Id be welcome to any ideas
-
im not a fan of it ... and i prefer AW keyboard they are amazing ....(the laptop )
-
So you like the keyboard that is in the laptops themselves? personally ive actually never used an alienware laptop. But the m17x will be my first, just need a dope mouse to go along with it. Right now im using some laser logitech and its amazing.
-
im using a 30$ logitech cheapo from WALLY world lol
-
You're a fan of a different mouse? I like getting a matching bluetooth mouse. I have one for my thinkpad. I also want to see if they release any new backpacks.
-
Ye I'm interested in how to lug this thing around too. I saw a while back someone named a good bag, could you repeat it please?
-
these are popular around here link
-
Lol, with the same specs but mine has the base HDD, base optical drive and cost me about 3400$, great job, De!!
EDIT: i live in Canada. -
hi im new here i just wanna know whats the difference between having the T9600 and the Q9000 in this beast tnx
-
Aristotelhs2060 Notebook Virtuoso
woo! even the alienware backpacks are cheaper than these -
which Hard drive to you recommend? I got the 256 GB SSD, but i need and exrta HD I am going to install myself. I was thinking of this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148374
It is 7200 rpm, and as far as I know the biggest laptop drive -
For names on the nameplate I was thinking about Gambit or The Barbarian. I always loved Gambit from X-Men
-
Q9000 has 4 cores that are running slower than the T9600's 2 cores. If the programs you're planning to run on the M17x uses more than 2 cores the Q9000 should perform faster than the T9600. If not then T9600 will perform much faster than the Q9100.
Base your decision on what software you will be running. -
The discussion yesterday convinced me I need to think of something unique yet generic to put on the nameplate.
Something like LUV2PKU would work for me but a former guildmate of mine already got that for the license plates on her car.
-
GLaDOS was the best thing i heard, But i went with my name cause I wouldn't sell it. Hoping for it to least me all 4 years of college. *knock on wood*
-
Haha that would be sweet! too bad she took it first
. Yea I should come up with something more unique too.
-
Do people actually buy microsoft tools/software with it. It is like half the price on ebay? for the m17x, or any computer for that matter.
-
Ha ha, that reminds me of the Vegan tofu eating woman from Oregon that was refused her custom license plate: "LUVTOFU". lol
-
HAHAHA! I never heard of that. That is hilarious
-
I'ts true too. It was on the news a few weeks ago.
I guess it was Colorado. -
You're about a week late on these. Dell was selling them for $95. I bought 4 with a 15% off coupon. It's still cheaper through Dell but they are backordered. Link
If you get a hold of a 15% off electronics and accessories then even cheaper. -
bahahaha
rule 42 xD -
if i get the T9600 and in the future i upgrade to QX9300..will i have any prob?
-
yes, rule 42. and therefore, rule 24.
-
No, you won't have any problems. It's plug and play and enjoy the new bios over clocking!
-
So this week you guys think we will see updates on ESD/EDD and processing stuff? any ideas or expectations
-
Well we'll see which rumors are correct. Either build time will be 20 days or shipping will start this week.
-
For some reason...shipping this week seems quite hard. I know parts are on backorder, specifically my processor, and i bet others will be/are. So this week seems irrational to me. Also i don't want to get my hopes up.
-
The T9600 is going to be a very popular proc because of it's price/performance ratio. They called you to tell you it's back ordered right?
-
I doubt they will be shipped before end of the month.
But then again, I am in Europe. Perhaps USA will get them a little earlier. -
I'm a little more optimistic because with all my past Dell orders the estimated delivery date has always been off by weeks. The last M1730 I ordered took 7 days.
-
So who's shoulder's do you think it will fall on to fix any potential kinks in the workings of CrossfireX with Nvidia's chipset?
I can picture Nvidia blaming ATI for any issues and ATI blaming Nvidia and AW offering no support.
-
Dell!
10 char -
Just thought up some kewl ideas (with the Nameplate)
Name the Computer [And change the sound files for logging in/off]
HK-47
Log On: "Hello, Meatbag".
Log Off: "You are a very harsh master, master. I like you."
HAL
Log On: "Hello, Dave"
Log Off: "Will I dream Dave?...daveeeeee..."
GLaDOS
Log On: "We assure you that Android Hell is a real place and you will be sent there upon the slightest sign of deviance."
Log Off: "Uh oh. Somebody cut the cake. I told them to wait for you, but they cut it anyway. There is still some left, though, if you hurry back."
I can't decide xD
What do you guys think? -
portal right? i would use the last one! -
Yup, the last one is portal. The first s HK-47 from Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Second one, HAL from 2001: A Space Odyssey.
-
I really hope you are right. This is a new machine though.
About the M1730, yes the one I ordered took a bout a week too.
But that one has been in production for a long period. -
The last time I ordered a new release was my T60p and that took a month from lenovo. Luckily Dell is a bigger operation.
-
You're right the last bit should be... and Dell offering no support.
-
Those who ordered top end specs like the qx9300 dual 280m GTX and 4 gigs 1333mhz will probably ship a lot sooner than lower end specs since a lot of people order lower end specs to save money.
-
its based on stock.
there is no such thing as sending out higher spec'd units ahead of an order with less. -
Sorry to respond late mandrake, no i called them to ask questions regarding shipping and the status of my order. Was told my processor was on back order. (shrugs)
-
I'd assume its the other way around.
They'd have more of the low-end parts -
Your funny
Dell uses a que and it is first come first served.
Anyway, just for fun I was looking through the old M1730 owners thread. When it first came out, Dell had those systems shipping within 10 days.
I am not saying that will be the case for the M17x, but one can hope
-
How popular was the M1730 when it first came out?
-
It had mixed reactions but it was a very popular laptop at the time.
-
Sorry to change the subject a bit off shipping, but does anyone know a good laptop sleeve for m17x/m17 sized laptops. I've been looking around the accessories forum but everything is to the damn macbook. And its making me want to flame macs...But i shall resist, anyone know of an specific good sleeves for alienware sized laptops.
-
I hope alienware does come out with a new backpack even though I like the Orion backpack they already have but you never know they could improve upon it some how.
