If you know how to change local policy Microsoft already provides a baseline security policy that does it also.

On a side note, when are all the new accessories coming??

So you like the keyboard that is in the laptops themselves? personally ive actually never used an alienware laptop. But the m17x will be my first, just need a dope mouse to go along with it. Right now im using some laser logitech and its amazing.

You're a fan of a different mouse? I like getting a matching bluetooth mouse. I have one for my thinkpad. I also want to see if they release any new backpacks.

Q9000 has 4 cores that are running slower than the T9600's 2 cores. If the programs you're planning to run on the M17x uses more than 2 cores the Q9000 should perform faster than the T9600. If not then T9600 will perform much faster than the Q9100.

Base your decision on what software you will be running.

The discussion yesterday convinced me I need to think of something unique yet generic to put on the nameplate.

Something like LUV2PKU would work for me but a former guildmate of mine already got that for the license plates on her car. :)

Do people actually buy microsoft tools/software with it. It is like half the price on ebay? for the m17x, or any computer for that matter.

You're about a week late on these. Dell was selling them for $95. I bought 4 with a 15% off coupon. It's still cheaper through Dell but they are backordered. Link

If you get a hold of a 15% off electronics and accessories then even cheaper.

For some reason...shipping this week seems quite hard. I know parts are on backorder, specifically my processor, and i bet others will be/are. So this week seems irrational to me. Also i don't want to get my hopes up.

The T9600 is going to be a very popular proc because of it's price/performance ratio. They called you to tell you it's back ordered right?

But then again, I am in Europe. Perhaps USA will get them a little earlier.

I'm a little more optimistic because with all my past Dell orders the estimated delivery date has always been off by weeks. The last M1730 I ordered took 7 days.

So who's shoulder's do you think it will fall on to fix any potential kinks in the workings of CrossfireX with Nvidia's chipset?

I can picture Nvidia blaming ATI for any issues and ATI blaming Nvidia and AW offering no support. :)

Just thought up some kewl ideas (with the Nameplate)

Name the Computer [And change the sound files for logging in/off]

    HK-47
    Log On: "Hello, Meatbag".
Log Off: "You are a very harsh master, master. I like you."

    HAL
    Log On: "Hello, Dave"
Log Off: "Will I dream Dave?...daveeeeee..."

    GLaDOS
Log On: "We assure you that Android Hell is a real place and you will be sent there upon the slightest sign of deviance."
Log Off: "Uh oh. Somebody cut the cake. I told them to wait for you, but they cut it anyway. There is still some left, though, if you hurry back."

    I can't decide xD
    What do you guys think?

About the M1730, yes the one I ordered took a bout a week too.
But that one has been in production for a long period.

Those who ordered top end specs like the qx9300 dual 280m GTX and 4 gigs 1333mhz will probably ship a lot sooner than lower end specs since a lot of people order lower end specs to save money.

    Your funny

Dell uses a que and it is first come first served.

Anyway, just for fun I was looking through the old M1730 owners thread. When it first came out, Dell had those systems shipping within 10 days.

I am not saying that will be the case for the M17x, but one can hope :)

I hope alienware does come out with a new backpack even though I like the Orion backpack they already have but you never know they could improve upon it some how.
