This should fit the m17x?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834990139
Seems a bit small to me, but a reviewer said it fit his m1730 fine.
-
looks like it'll fit..
not going for the backpack or armored briefcase? xD -
It's too small.
AP M17x dimensions are Width: 15.98" x Depth: 12.65" x Height: 2.02"-2.11"
That bag's capacity has the width but not the depth or the thickness needed. -
I think the armored briefcases are a bit much lol people would think your a hitman or something
-
Phinagle are you sure? on the site i found them listed as 16.1 length-11.5 width and 2.1 height. I'm looking at the case logics, they are simple, black, not alienware. So as many have said before ppl wont try to steal it. Though I wont put it down, just a good point made before. I might just get a good sleeve and then let it reside in my north face backpack.
EDIT:Yeah it wont fit, height on APm17x is too high -
Sure about what? Those are the dimensions of the M17x.
http://www.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/laptop-alienware-m17x?c=us&l=en&s=dhs -
Hahah, alienware listed different dimensions in two different spots. If you go to alienware.com then click laptops, where they show all three, the m17x shows the ones i said. If you go to it specifically, it will show the ones you gave. So...um...cool
-
Those are for the old M17x.
Heh AW's Orion bag won't even fit the new M17x with a capacity of 16.5" x 11.5" x 2". -
Regarding the backordered T9600, how can you tell if you are one of the ones who will have to wait longer? I have been sitting In Production for 2 days now, if you were waiting for Alienware to get more T9600's, would you be stuck in Pre-Processing? Or is it either way around? (Sorry if it sounds sort of confusing, cant really word it.)
-
I don't see how it is back-ordered (the T9600).
If it was, all of Dell's laptop would have the blue "This may delay your ship date" note under the options in the configurator. -
Well, I am "In Production", Also i was the one who spoke to the 2 dell CS representatives. The first one told me that the t9600 was on backorder. He did not say of any repercussions to the EDD or additions to it. He said it "should" be there by 7/7. He didn't give too much detail on the topic. The second one i called repeated again that my processor was back ordered.
Also reckon, we have almost the EXACT same specs minus the hard drive, also we ordered same day. Yet your EDD is 7/3 and mine is 7/7. Very odd -
Hmm that is odd. I am living in Canada, Ontario aswell so I did not ordered from the Canadian Alienware site (through dell.ca). That could possibly be why but I am sure most of us will be getting our laptops before the EDD.

Ahhh I can't keep up with this thread... When I sleep 20-30 pages are added lol
-
Sleeping is for the week. Also...question for those who have had laptop bags/backpacks before. All but the length fit in this backpack, but its vertical..so it should matter that much. (disregard my taste in bags)
http://www.antonline.com/p_SNBP-17 DARK GRAY-NX_562603.htm
Also this one is short by 1/4 of an inch on the length..and half an inch on height. But when you look at the pocket, you can see the height is irrelevant and the length..well damn.

Yea I can't decide if I want a messenger bag or a pack though...
-
Same...look at these bags, very handsome but WAYYYY too expensive...I just said a bag was too expensive when i bought a brand new alienware laptop...
http://www.booqbags.com/All-Products
Mamba ones look good, to me. But only like 1 fits and its not the best looking one..=( -
With the weight of this thing your going to want a backpack.
I tried a messenger back with my 1730 (which is lighter than the M17x) and it was too heavy, IMO. -
It could fit but it may be snug and with the M17x's sharp corners and edges you probably don't want to be stretching it too much...it's bound to produce more wear and tear and shorten the lifespan of your bag.
Also don't forget you're going to want breathing room for power supplies and peripherals.
Have you tried searching for an 18.4" case? -
Believe it or not, Dell makes pretty good bags for their XPS systems.
This one is real nice because it comes with removable pouches and stuff:
http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/...6&cs=19&c=us&l=en&dgc=SS&cid=27530&lid=627063 -
I have not looked for 18.4 inch bags yet. The weight of the laptop will not weigh me down, i assume. Good ol high school athletics. That is one thing I am not factoring in. I love the way the Booq boa slimcase's look. Also the caselogic canvas messeneger/backpacks all look good. The caselogics dont fit well. I am very tempted to get the http://www.booqbags.com/All-Products/Mamba/Mamba-Pack-black
But the dimensions are too small. So i might go with the http://www.booqbags.com/All-Products/Boa/Boa-slimcase-XXL -

OO maybe, I really like Targus backpacks too.... I wonder if they make one that could fit my Baby in it?
-
Targus...really...I just don't think they...look good at all. Just my opinion, I'm sure they can hold alot of stuff. But..style first.
-
as posted in several other threads regarding packs/bags for AW units, i use swiss gear. they are by far built better then a lot of targus units i tested and have lots more room...
i also tested several others when at best buy, and other places that carry them.
swiss gear is tops for me. -
Anyone here ever had a "booq bag" they are quite expensive, and of course i find them very handsome bags. Though only one I want actually fits the m17x
-
I don't know which kind of laptop you have now but believe me, I have also tried to carry my 1730 in a messenger bag (I didn't like the look of backpacks) and it's not that you get tired but even with a good bag it will hurt your shoulders/back and you'll probably end up buying a backpack too.
I guess if you don't plan on moving it too often and bringing too many accessories it can do the job but a backpack is IMO much more comfortable. -
Well, I actually dont have a laptop right now =P. So I have yet to lug around a laptop of any size. Some backpacks look good, right now i have a north face backpack for school. Whichever one that says bigshot on it. If the laptop fits inside it, I will just get a sleeve and hopefully that will work, if not. These booq bags look damn good.
-
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
I really can't tell from the pictures if those bags are "handsome" or not, too me they look like they would be too large and the confiugration of the Zippers, pockets etc. are just really wacky... The Boa might work, but it just seems like it is really lengthy backpack to me, and I am only 5"10 so that might look strange, not to mention it isn't really even a backpack, I mean look it only has one cross strap
-
Well, i just like the sleekness of them. Mildly simple, black and would fit me at 6"3. But yeah I can totally see how the boa looks like its long. The mamba is a bit expensive and the m17x actually doesn't fit in it sadly. Config of the zippers..meh. Ill survive =P.
-
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
I would totall get the Mamba, if it would fit... Based on demensions, no... But demensions aren't always the finality of something
Ahhh Sweet, I think I found my match!
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834997405
What about this one it is fairly simple and sleek... not to mention less expensive
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834990167 -
Well the mamba says 15.75"x10.5"x1.5
Which is pretty far off the m17x of 16.5 x 11.5 x 2, I like the looks, yet when all three dimensions miss. I would b hesitant unless I could actually see the bag firsthand then buy it. -
the boa slimclase is a good looking bag imo. if you really want that you can definitely get the m17x in the bag...it just might not be in the actual laptop compartment...
I have been carrying around large laptops for a while and its never bothered me to place them in bags where they dont technically fit the compartment...i just put notebooks in that area and put the laptop where it fits.
when you get the laptops of this size they are going to be in that bag snugly without needed the extra restraint and cushion the compartment provides... -
Hey whizzo,
Ya better change the title of this thread to:
*OFFICIAL* Alienware M17x Thread - Specs, Pics, Pricing, and bags! lol -
http://www.booqbags.com/Boa-slimcase-XXL?leadsource=BAGFINDERCAMP
^ boa slimcase XXL dimensions - 16.75x12x2" should fit the m17x nicely. -
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
First off my problem with that is it isn't a backpack, it is like a backpack/messenger bag hybrid... It only has one cross strap, that mgiht be really wierd to tote around or ride your bike with
Hey guys I know off topic, but what ever happened to the NEW THREAD quicklink... It's really annoying to search through everything for new threads -
Well rob...We have discussed everything possible about the laptop, delivery and every component. bags are only thing left!
-
bags are a valid and important topic. if you are going to spend 2k+ on a laptop you better have a nice carrier that is both safe and stylish! if i catch any of you carrying around your m17x in a trash bag ill be calling child services on you.
-
I have a booq 17" sleeve w/handle and strap for 5 year now. It was purchased for an old 17" Dell notebook I had. The M1730 would stick out of it so I think the M17x will have problems with it also.
-
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
To reiterate my point and questions lol....
First off my problem with that is it isn't a backpack, it is like a backpack/messenger bag hybrid... It only has one cross strap, that might be really wierd to tote around or ride your bike with
Hey guys I know off topic, but what ever happened to the NEW THREAD quicklink... It's really annoying to search through everything for new threads -
Yeah i understand, the boa slimcase is kinda weird, but i would just be walking around campus/school/classes with it. So it would be fine for me. The mambo would be better for biking i guess then. Double strap backpack.
-
Sorry Butter,
Don't know what happened to the quicklink. I think to help with the error 404's the admins disabled that as well as some of the search functions. -
as a professional i prefer some sort of shoulder bag (not a backpack). i always thing it looks weird when someone shows up for a business meeting and has a backpack on...
-
Yeah, I agree with you wuza, though it is obviously easier to carry with a backpack cause of two straps equally distributing the weight. So..style vs ease.
-
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
Mmm very good point actually... My only position against it then would be, if a single strap would cause problems as it is a cross strap... although I guess I carry my backpack with one strap anyway lol.... I just wish the strap had a center pad or shoulder pad, enough weight in that thing and it will cut into you.
-
Just hope that single strap doesn't break or you'll be pretty pissed off!
-
just to make sure....
you all are taking the interior dimensions of the bag/pack and not overall dimensions correct? -
This isn't the most business oriented laptop in the first place lol
-
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
Yup, no joke... So can somebody please tell me what happened to the NEW THREAD QUIKLINK! lol
-
Rob explained a possible scenario on page 309
-
yeah ryu, we are looking at interior =P at least i am
-
Ideally I'd like something like this but AXIO doesn't have one big enough for the M17x:
