-
-
27th of Feb i think, And i know i wont have it untill after easter, thats what they have told me
Est Shiipping date 26th of March -
You ordered late so they might sort out the mess in time for you. I would guess you'll get only 2 weeks delay for yours compared to our already one month and counting lol.
-
-
Yea, you could hang in there a bit. We're mostly canceling because as we placed our orders and paid in beginning of February we should have gotten our computers long ago. I could understand that they had some kind of accident if they would be more communicative and they would offer some kind of compensation. I mean I payed one month ago, I would get my computer middle April just like you or someoe that orders next week which sounds unfair. I think their sales agents should have been prepared to offer a discount or an extended warranty or something like this for people that were screwed over by their poor management. Since this not only didnt happen but their phone guys actually suggest to you to cancel the order when you try to approach the subject.... makes me very disappointed. As I said many times in the forum and explained to them in all my emails:
1. the computer is for a present so I am the last person they should expect to cause them trouble, I should be easily contented - they failed
2. i am not in a hurry, as is a present and I ordered a lot in advance i would have had no problem waiting if they would have motivated to do so -failed
bah, why bother, I'll see what they answer to my last email, hold one this weekend and then most probably cancel the order. The sad part is that for sure they made me lose money since they dont accept CHF as currency and the bank makes the exchange when payment is due. -
Has anyone got there newsletter for march
Impress, Illuminate and Inspire
M15x avaible now
are they trying 2 get as many order as they can ? -
I forgot to mention something that might help people decide if they want to order:
I asked the CS over the phone: so when you launched the m15x on 4th of February you didn't have any components on stock to complete an order
Answer was: that is correct. -
Damn all this sh** is getting on my nerves already, and i only ordered 4th, march... But then again, they should sort everything till my delivery time... I hope.
-
i think they're trying to sell to people because of all the order cancellations! -
hmm this is a bit offtopic, but do you guys know any large european companies that sell clevo models then? Would be my first alternative to AW after reading this hehe
edit: with international warranty.. long shot, but oh well -
Yes if anyone knows that would be of great help
-
In UK you have Rock and Evesham as Clevo resellers, in Germany Cyber-Systems, Nexoc, mysn and Guru. I think Rock is the largest of the mentioned companies.
-
How did AW survive this long
-
I received the end March/beginning of April email too. Im REALLY pissed off with AW. How can they have such ****ty supplies when they are a premium company? Why the hell did they take orders for the laptop if they didnt have the components?
I really think we should all cancel our orders. I think that will teach them a lesson (hopefully). What say guys? Should we all call on Monday to cancel or should we sue them or something? -
-
Can't find any european clevo resellers with international warranty.. gonna have to wait it out with AW.. either until I know where I will be heading (which will be by April sometime) -> no more need for international warranty, or until they send me my m15x.
-
There's no way to really sue them. Just get a refund =D but to be honest There is a desktop i really like also, and the m1730 is also very nice. I was watching an unpacking video and supposedly the bottom is made of metal and it seems to have a lot of fans and run coldly. Windows XP is a bonus also.
-
Got email from AW:
"Dear Mr. ********,
Please accept our apologies at the inconvenience caused due to unforeseen delays in processing your order.
Alienware has experienced a supply issue with its vendor on the AREA-51 M15X 15" WUXGA & AREA-51 M15X 15" WXGA. These are currently on a long delivery time, estimated delivery date to Alienware is the end of March or beginning of April."
Just for confirming information said before... Im getting tired of waiting, but cant do much since AW is only (?) high end laptop retailer that ships these things in finland. -

OK guys for the alternatives to alienware you are looking at dell or the clevo manufacturers
the cheapest M570ru is with Novatech, I just placed an order
www.novatech.co.uk
good luck guys, I will be hanging around the sager/clevo forums now -
....
or a dell XPS M1730.. hmmmm..
@ C-Art - thanks for sharing the info, which more than confirms everything here. -
Bo@LynboTech Company Representative
its ok shamneo, if anyone gets stuck they can always pm me
I am being very tempted to design my own chassis to put my M570ru in
I have wanted to build notebooks for years, but dont have oem/odm status so getting parts is a hassle
you never know though, if Devilware ever appears with a red horned dude on the back of the lid, it will probably be me -
i got the same email saying they'll receive the components early april. i'm cancelling monday (let them have a last whiff of my money during the weekend
) and looking for other options. desktops most probably.. i don't really need portability anyway. i'm over alienware and their crummy service.
to those who just ordered/waiting patiently, good luck to you and i hope that my cancellation will benefit you somehow.i'll keep coming back to this forum and see how things progress.
who knows, maybe it'll spark my interest again in buying an AW..
@bofh1971 - building a notebook?! cooli sure hope devilware will kick AW's ass someday!
-
tell us how the commodore is, i used to have a C64 brings back memories
. I might get it out and plug it
-
Bo@LynboTech Company Representative
lol still got my Vic20, C64, Amigas ooooh yeaaahhh!
-
if aw doesn't start my build on the 10th - I'm getting a m1730. Have a nice one priced out and she's offering me 20% off! (12% from student discount)
-
I was on my g/fs 15 inch notebook today.. I don't know if i really like the screen that small... hmm... Well - Whatever happens, happens i guess ;p. If they dont start monday I go for dell. If they start I stick with it.
-
(...i havent ordered additional power cord, cant even use it since i live in finland lol...)
"Dear **** ********,
There will be a slight delay in processing your Alienware order because the part(s) listed below are temporarily backordered. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and assure you that we are doing everything in our power to expedite the process of obtaining the part(s). Once the part(s) have been obtained, your order will be processed.
1- M15X ADDITIONAL AC ADAPTER POWER CORD (UK) .................. Expected Date: 3/10/2008" -
-
-
Bo@LynboTech Company Representative
Its not a gift, their CS person told me that they have the same part code for original power cord and additional power cord.
so they are basically saying you are missing the power cord
not forgetting your chassis, screen and motherboard,
the battery will be missing too
Its all the same thing coming from the same placein one box too!
Good luck if you decide to stay with them , but personally I would be worried about a product that is completely failing to ship over a month after launch -
-
From their 7700 page
Rock
3 Year pan-European Collect & Return Warranty
Cheers -
I'm REALLY tempted by a Clevo 17" equivalent, but they do seem a bit bulky, and the battery options really let it down. If I had to carry something around with that battery life, I'd sooner just go balls-to-the-wall and get a complete desktop replacement notebook with SLi 8800's.
Anyone got any pics of a 17" Clevo next to a generic HP/Sony/Toshiba etc 17"? -
Bo@LynboTech Company Representative
I tell you what Eeekie I will take a pic of my new one next to my 15" acer (which is just a tiny bit smaller than the m15x
) so you can compare.
lots of people say the pictures dont do the machine any justice.
I do however know how big a 17" screen is , as my son has one, and the bezel around the clevo is nice and thin, so I am hoping its not too bad
also its less than a kilo heavier than the m15x so carrying it wont bother me
C-Art, I would call around, I find it incredible that dell dont ship to finland, they are a european company after all.
Almost any warranty is worldwide. just remember that you have to ship it to wherever it came from, so try emailing some uk suppliers, and even Eurocom to see what they can do.
Good luck -
It's not so much the weight that bothers me, I couldn't care if the M15x weighed 5kg. It's the dimensions, and of the bag required to lug it around.

I think it's a bit extreme that you guys cancelled your orders. It's fine if you don't mind any other laptop but just to use the fact that they are delayed as an excuse is a bit over the edge.
I know I've waited years for an Alienware laptop and I'm sure many others have so 1-2 months is nothing to me, even if my setup will get delayed.
Afterall, Alienware is a reputable company, it wasn't born yesterday and just put together a machine with the latest hardware and shipped it out to people.
I'm sure the demands for these sort of things are high and I'm sure the factories here in the UK are not as developed as in the US where these laptops have been shipped closer to the estimated date.
Think about it - if you'd order a Ferrari, would you be mad and cancel your order if it didn't arrive on time but were told it will be delivered 3 months later?
In my opinion, when you order an Alienware you don't order 'just another' laptop but something more than just. -
It's not about the wait, it's the excuses, lies and poor handling of the situation.
If I were buying a Ferrari and they did this to me, I'd cancel and get a Porsche/Lamborghini/etc equivalent.
Unfortunately there isn't an M15x equivalent, so instead I'll just moan well within my rights. -
@ crystak -
god not again.. we've already heard from ShortGreenCoat..
with all due respect, we don't need to hear it from you too. at the end of the day, it's our HUGE money and we expect to get good service.. doesn't matter whose at fault here, whether it be because of poor planning or the suppliers..
i know it's a reputable company. i've been a fan. but after reading through threads here for the past month, there has been a lot of problems with the machine.. even the review laptop they lend to chaz had a few hiccups. so, i think i've made the right choice.
apologies if i sound like a jerk but i really don't want this conversation going any further.. it's our right to cancel if we're not satisfied with ANYTHING. the people cancelling aren't forcing others to cancel with them. so please keep your opinion to yourself.
sorry. -
in my opinion they don't have any delays in the parts.. they are just trying to solve many issues that this notebook has! first of all touch controls & GPU oveheating. this should be the cause of the black design delay: maybe they don't want to release another case with the same problems as the silver one.
just a thought -

@crystak
Hey matey, I find your Ferrari analogy highly amusing.
so you spend a small fortune on a prestige sports car.
Now for starters they tell you there is a waiting list, and give you a time when your car will be ready.
If it were to be delayed by 3 months you can bet your life that they would do something about it. Ferrari would most certainly not let even a forum thread develop that bad-mouths their service without tackling each problem head on, with a great big heap of goodwill attached.
They would most likely lend the buyer an equivalent car until theirs was ready, or at least compensate the guy.
Now lets put it in perspective too
Its a laptop.....pure and simple.....they have wrapped standard components (quanta that is) inside a nice looking case........and possibly although I can't vouch for this, made a few errors with heat dissipation.
Now I can go down the highstreet and buy almost any laptop instantly
I order a clevo machine and am due to get it in less than a week.
only Dell and Alienware have so many threads regarding delivery times being an issue. heck Dell even has a whole Section separate from their own forum area on here!!!
2+months is NOT acceptable to wait for a notebook! come on its ridiculous, thats not impatience its having some lame computer company collect interest on your money 2 months before they even think about shipping anything out to you........maybe they should have reserved a build for me but not taken the full amount ....just a deposit say..........now that would have been more acceptable -
no no no, trust me, it's not so!
you have to wait long for a ferrari. and if you wait more than expected, they won't do anything for you. you do accept it to have one of the most prestigious cars in the world! everything but reliable.
if you want a car fast and reliable, buy a porsche, not a ferrari! Ferrari is particular, even the assemble phase! it all manually, so it take long time.
I think the analogy is appropriate: you wait long for something special, that others can't offer! but you know you will wait long, and now you know you will have few problems.if you buy a ferrari, do a favor to your self: use it once a month! if not, you will go ofter repair it
-
Bo@LynboTech Company Representative
erm....
no comment...........I am sure an actual ferrari owner would put that straight
-
That does sound rather like Ferrari though to be fair.
Like I said it's not so much the wait that pisses me off, it's the lack of communication and sly tactics of trying to lead you on. If they came straight out and told me where I stood with delays without me having to chase them, I'd have no problems with the wait. I'm very patient, I waited over a year for a car once. -
Bo@LynboTech Company Representative
I have to agree its their attitude and reluctance to negotiate that is the worst thing
and as I said before if they just took a deposit, knowing that there were delays, and then took full payment at phase 6
not so hard eh?
but no they are a badly run company
and from what I read, after sales isnt any better -
how are you guys getting on with the phase game?
Im so glad that i cancelled my m15x order. -
Alienwares been sloppy ever since dell took them over.
anyone remember the time when the only two systems they had were the area 51 with the P4HT Extreme cpu and the big ugly bulky Desktop one.....(forgot the name)...hangar 18 maybe?? -
im gonna keep going because I really like the laptop itself. I'm not under a lot of time pressure.
So really no matter even if I have to get it sent back in if I get unlucky and get one with a downclocking 8800m gtx, ill just get em to fix it. I am really quite into gaming, but for college the 15.4" size is also vital imo. Along with the smartbay, it will be very helpful to have long battery life (I ordered smart bay battery and the 9 cell battery with it).
This mix of portability/gaming/battery life is exactly what I need, and I dont see any other notebooks out there that can do exactly this.
The new 15.4" clevo which is coming out may be equal in gaming power, but without the smart bay it wont suit me as well.
Anyways, just my reasons for staying with it -
incredible!
I even know people who works in ferrari, or with ferrari, and I know it's so. you want the best exclusive car in the world? you have to stay to their conditions
and for reliability, it's like I said, but some people don't mind it only because this is a ferrari. and trust me, who knows ferrari, calls them "sunday car"
