Wohoo 120hz I'm in love!!!!
-
there goes RGBLED for the M17x. but i wonder if the 6870/6970 will fit into the m15x...

No switchable graphics....but it COULD be a desktop CPU as well! Assuming it is not just a typo
Also, if it is desktop chipset, multi gpu is an option again
Also the price is rather attractive actually.....we will see what the options cost though
And 120Hz can be interesting! -
No M13x/M14x or M11x updates -
Though I did notice a lack of SLI or Crossfire mentioned in those specs. -
Why no RGB...looks like Joker was spot on once again lol. Need more info!! I hope it's not plastic...
-
I'm digging the lid....that's enough for me, I'm superficial.
-
will the GPU's have CF or SLI options ???
-
no more RGB 1920x1200??? that's disappointing
-
Any R2 owners can breath a collective sigh of relief and happily keep it. No xfire (unless the chipset is a typo), no RGBLED, the design looks exactly like the cheapish plastic (unless its carbon fiber in which case I retract) looking pic leaked in the R3 thread awhile ago.
I'll pass. Again. Should've just bought a M15x awhile ago and been happy. -
Because it's thinner, maybe the cooling ability is now limited to only a cpu and gpu (not xfire or SLI...would be a disappointment).
But for the love of god is it plastic?? -
ROTFL IF it is plastic
-
No SLI nor crossfire? mmmm. I'll stick with my M15X then...
-
-
The only reason I speculate is because of the lid design...exactly like the M11x...
-
Configurable with the latest NVIDIA 500 series mobile graphics on the XPS 17 why not the M17 ?

If there is no multi gpu support it should be the HM67 chipset to keep the IGP accessible.
Being able to use the 4870s OR the IGP in my R1 is still something I love having -

-
yeah I was thinking GTX580
-
what a disappointment
no crossfire, sli
downgraded resolution !!
no RGB screen!!!
cheap construction and ugly design!! -
<strike>Overclocked liquid cooled CPU on the M17x?
Maybe it is a desktop CPU.</strike>
LOL scratch that Cnet listed the Aurora desktop specs for the M17x. -
wouldnt a 17 without Xfire or SLI be just like a 15, just bigger??? totally missing the point here....
-
Lol I know right!
-
Only thing left interesting me is Joker's possible M14x rumor. Still also interested in a M15x with a 6970, which I would buy. -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
more cooling, bigger screen, full keyboard with numpad, 2 hard drives
all benefits of 17" vs 15" -
-
Seriously? That was all this commotion was about, a downgraded r2?
I am Jack's disappointment. -
hope they have 120hz for m15x as well
-
-
Is it confirmed there is no more crossfire or sli?
-
-
So it looks like the m17x can do 3d games now. Neat.
-
m17x r3 is just an anorexic m17x r2
-
You guys are overlooking the biggest change!
Starting price of $1,499!
Thats $800 cheaper than previous starting price! Thats huge! -
I am not a scientist but the previous starting price was $1,799.00 which would make a $300.00 not $800.00
-
EPIC Fail if it does not support CF or SLI configs + no RGB LED
-
m17 x
•Graphics option: 1.5GB NVIDIA GTX 460M
•Graphics option: ATI 1GB HD6870M 2GB 6970M
compared to the aurora,
•Dual graphics support either AMD Crossfire X or NVIDIA SLI modes
could be a typo, or m17 doesnt support Xfire or SLI anymore -
...
Goodbye true Alienware...

ROLF... 11:35AM Talking about gaming now. "What makes Dell the gaming leader? We listen to this market."

Jeah but if the Infos are true and confirmed then the R3 seriously sucks.
No SLI/Crossfire
No GTX470SLI
No RGB LED
No 1200 Resolution
AND
3D which is the biggest sh.. ever!
The Price was never of relevance when buying an Alienware - it was all about raw power - without that I dont need an Alienware M17x.
Honestly this ne R3 is no more better than the Asus ROGs.
