No switchable graphics....but it COULD be a desktop CPU as well! Assuming it is not just a typo ;)

Also, if it is desktop chipset, multi gpu is an option again :D

Also the price is rather attractive actually.....we will see what the options cost though

    And 120Hz can be interesting!

There's no PM67 chipset so your other option is an HM67 that likely doesn't support dual GPU.

Though I did notice a lack of SLI or Crossfire mentioned in those specs.

Any R2 owners can breath a collective sigh of relief and happily keep it. No xfire (unless the chipset is a typo), no RGBLED, the design looks exactly like the cheapish plastic (unless its carbon fiber in which case I retract) looking pic leaked in the R3 thread awhile ago.

I'll pass. Again. Should've just bought a M15x awhile ago and been happy.

Because it's thinner, maybe the cooling ability is now limited to only a cpu and gpu (not xfire or SLI...would be a disappointment).

But for the love of god is it plastic??

Quite true. Hopefully the size and battery life will be reflected in the loss of of SLI/Crossfire at the very least. You'd still want switchable graphics to the IGP as well though.

If there is no multi gpu support it should be the HM67 chipset to keep the IGP accessible.

Being able to use the 4870s OR the IGP in my R1 is still something I love having :D

QFT. What a bummer, and its particularly sad they chose 3D support over RGBLED.

Only thing left interesting me is Joker's possible M14x rumor. Still also interested in a M15x with a 6970, which I would buy.

You have some limited overclocking with the locked processors. (At least desktop ones.) There is the 2920XM for notebooks that is unlocked.

I will chose 1920 X 1200 RGB any time of the day over 3d 1080p. I saw the gaming asus at best buy with the 1080p, and i can easily see the difference between resolutions and colors 1200 rbg wins!!. besides 3d is not really 3d.

    m17 x

    •Graphics option: 1.5GB NVIDIA GTX 460M
    •Graphics option: ATI 1GB HD6870M 2GB 6970M

    compared to the aurora,

•Dual graphics support either AMD Crossfire X or NVIDIA SLI modes

could be a typo, or m17 doesnt support Xfire or SLI anymore

Jeah but if the Infos are true and confirmed then the R3 seriously sucks.
    No SLI/Crossfire
    No GTX470SLI
    No RGB LED
    No 1200 Resolution

    AND

3D which is the biggest sh.. ever!

The Price was never of relevance when buying an Alienware - it was all about raw power - without that I dont need an Alienware M17x.
Honestly this ne R3 is no more better than the Asus ROGs.
