I did what 5482741 had in their post instead and got a su4100 system for $715.96 after tax with next day delivery.

Specs are trimmed down a little but I'm saving money....I think its a great deal. They must be getting rid of their stock or something to offer discounts like these :)

Re-opening thread. Changing things a bit here... There will be no posting/sharing of EPP (Employee Purchase Program) coupon codes. If you have access to the Dell EPP Program via your employer, school, organization then contact the person heading this program for details on how to access and/or obtain coupons. NBR's Alienware forum is not the first - Lenovo also has an EPP program and posting coupons is not permitted there.

If you have access to EPP and want to post a heads-up on a new code which was received via email, that is fine. Just no codes.

Sorry this has to be done however we received several post reports and complaints over this issue and taking another look, it only makes sense to adopt this stance. If you have any questions send me a PM.

    Thanks.

I am on my third reorder due to hardware issues. What are the chances of getting a good discount? The best I have got through EPP is 17%. Does anyone have a good rep, or ideas? I really want to enjoy my M17X R2 some day :)

hmm so im second guessing myself now. im not sure if i should return my m11x. does anyone know a rough estimate of how much performance an i7 would give over a su4100. like would it enable the m11x to play games like gta4? or would it just give like 5-10 frames? because i love the m11x as it is right now but im still eligible for the 30 days return and im not sure if i should upgrade.

not only is it faster, it's more efficient, and because of optimus, it goes longer on the battery. If you're able to be without a computer for a few weeks, it's worth it.

Hopefully.. and also I hope you get a perfect system. My cards are perfect. No throttles, stuttering or screen tears. Love it! I just wanna replace my F and J. It feels like the rubber is misplaced so it's not pressing crispy. :D

I got the deal through my employee purchase program, and alot of wheeling and dealing. It helped that this was my third reorder because of hardware issues. No biggy, this are great systems, I am just really picky.

I'm trying to order the m11x with the i7, 4gigs ram, and 500 gig hard drive. I am an EPP member but when I call they will only give me the $100 coupon and not the 10% off. So online I can get the setup for about $1,1200 and on the phone they are giving me $1,350. Does anyone have a number to a good U.S. rep I would really appreciate it. I'm trying to get this closer to $1,050. Thanks guys

I used the online chat this time, I had some codes to use that would not work, so I got on a chat after I built a system online and saved it to my wish list, that way you have proof of your EPP and will not need proof when you get on the chat (at lest for me). When you get on the chat you let them know who your employer is and ask for the best current promotions, unless you have already searched for promos first for your employer. Some employers have great deals right now. Good shopping, good luck :)

How are you guys getting such great savings? I'm in Canada and it seems impossible to get them to lower the prices/to haggle them! I'm using EPP discount so I've been told by the reps I can only get 5% of Alienware laptops :(. That plus the current savings they have on their website is the most I've been able to get! It's ridiculus.

On Tuesday I was able to get 10% instead of 5 for EPP but for some reason they didn't have their current promotion going on that had started the Friday before! It was not until the yesterday, Wednesday, that the promotion came back again for some reason! But the rep was only willing to offer me 5% ontop of the discounts so I just decided to accept and end this once and for all. But then I find out they didn't send me my quote and that the order was never processed!! ??!!! I gave them my credit card number and everything!

At work at the moment and I can't wait to get home and haggle the hell out of those sales reps!!! I'm gunna make sure they pay for all these troubles their giving me hehehe :D

Thats not a bad deal. I have USAA as well. I got the dell one though for less hassle and in the event that I need to sell, it raises resale value.

Disregard the code on page one. It had to be removed to due forum rules.

Did you sign up for the offers? That gives you a $50 coupon right there in your email. they send the code. Also I think the coupon I put on the first page is an EPP coupon good only through EPP. Dig deep in your family, surely somone is a university or college student or somone is in the military, or works for a large coorporation.

awesome. I did something similar, I used my american express to purchase part of my laptop. To which AE grants an additional year of warranty on all electronics items. So I bought 3 years, and have effectively 4.

    Ave,

As of today I'm in the market for a new Alienware M17x. Initial post regarding the matter can be found at :
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m17x/490943-ordering-m17x-soon-couple-questions.html

I'm on my way to start my first round of phone-rep-haggling to get the best price for my notebook; with all the awesome advice/methodologies that I have learned in this thread, I'm hoping to score decent.

Is there any rep's contact anyone would like to PM me who might be of great help in this effort?

    I'm starting off at a hefty price/configuration of $3752 + $357 (Tax/Shipping) for a grand total of $4118.

    Thanks Guys!!

I paid $2,482.13 tax's included, total before discounts $3,286.47 tax's included. That is a 24% to 25% discount I don't think you could get better than that. Now saying that, you could hit your target at $2695.14.

I need a deal on the Mobile Edge Alienware Orion Backpack now, any help?

AAA memberships qualify for the EPP too.

If you cant associate yourself with any other EPP and get desperate depending on how much your system is expected to be a AAA membership is like $50. Spend $50 to get $200+ off. Save $150.

Hey everyone... As you can see im new here but I have been following the threads for a little over a month and I wanna say thanks to all of you because I used every bit of savings knowledge I gained from here and it worked to my advantage.

Here are the specs on the M15x I ordered , let me know what you all think...

    -Alienware M15x, Cosmic Black
-Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium, 64bit, English (I have ultimate on a USB Drive)
    -Intel® Core™ i7-820QM Quad Core Processor 1.73GHz (3.06GHz Turbo Mode, 8MB Cache)
    -1 Year Advance Service Plan
    -1GB ATI Radeon™ Mobility HD 5850
    -15.6-inch WideFHD 1920x1080 (1080p) WLED
    -4GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1333MHz
    -128GB Solid State Drive
    -Slot-Loading Dual Layer Blu-ray Reader (BR-ROM, DVD+-RW, CD-RW)
    -Primary - 9-cell (85Watt) Lithium-Ion Battery
-Intel WiFi Link 5300 802.11AGN Half Mini Card
-Internal High-Definition 5.1 Surround Sound Audio
    -Internal Bluetooth 2.1 Mini-Card - 2.1 Enhanced Data Rate

I ordered by phone and I was able to use the EPP and Haggle the price a little bit. Told her it was a fathers day present and the only thing holding me back was the the price of the blu-ray player but I couldnt afford it so she threw it in for free :)

Total price came out to about $2250.00 with NBD shipping.

    Good question... lol

I needed an above average gaming rig that would last me more than a year cause I always settle for less and end up dissapointed within a few months. So I think I got a really good laptop for a good price. (Regardless if the rep thought it was for my dad or not lol)

The 820 really is overkill in price. A 720 would do justice.

I am in the market for m11x r2 too. I want the i5 4gb ram 320gb 7200rpm and BT. It costs arond 1000 after college discount and $100 off(on Dell's site). Do you guys think I can slash the price further through sales rep? I heard Dell does a lot of promotion during holiday, should I wait until the fourth of July? Thanks.

Been following the thread for awhile now, appreciating all the advice! Hoping to order new computers soon *2 people need computers* so hoping if we order together we can get a better deal since that's a bigger commission for the salesperson.

Question: do you think its worth it to compare AW to the XPS? You can config the XPS the same as AW and its about 1000 cheaper. Same company so might work? Thoughts?

This is an amazing thread. Thanks for the wonderful info.
I am really curious as to whether it is possible to change the shipping address once an order is placed, cause I'll be moving soon.

Hey, do you think you could PM me too. please?

I've been lurking on these forums for quite a while (since I was quite newb before I came here researching I saw no need to post with my newbieness and be told to read the forums more), but it's near time for me to get a laptop for my deadline so getting it within my budget would be ideal. That and, well, phone reps can be exhausting.

Just a quick explanation for my mysterious appearance on the forums. :)

    Hello,

Just ordered two systems and saved a bunch of money by using the info on this forum and through some help by members

    I got a studio 14

Core i7-720QM, 4GB Ram, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5450
    For $1043 with tax. Before coupons/EPP $1424

    and one Alienware M11x
    Core i7 640UM, 4GB RAM, 250GB HDD
For $982 with tax and free shipping on both systems.

Some tricks I found along the way:
    1) coupons which do not combine online will combine over the phone with a REP.
    2) Do not hang up the phone with the rep unless you get the e-mail with the purchase confirmation showing that the price quoted is the price you payed. I was quoted a lower price and then charged more. I had to spent 4 hours with customer service to get it fixed.

Thank you to all who helped.

Alright, I'm sure I can manage that and still be contributing. I was going to wait until after E3 to order anyways so it won't be much of a problem.

EDIT: Yep, it's 10 posts to be able to PM and go from "Newbie" to "Notebook Enthusiast".
