I think I got a pretty sweet deal from the guy I talked to. My main selling point was a comparison to the Sager Np 8170 and its price. He said they didnt offer a price match system, but he would try his best to meet the specs I offered. This is how it turned out.

A $3500 system. I also got the $75 carrying case for a even $2516 after shipping. I'm hoping to call back early next week and get a NBD shipping plan for free. The salesman said I came out with nearly 33% in discounts. Not to bad for my first phone call to the EPP site and only two hours worth of my time. :D

Same with requesting a pm of the sales representatives' contact information. Stumbled upon this while doing research, and that is a great deal.

    Thank you in advance.

@Michael, I believe you had a special EPP man, so posting your savings is sort of unfair because you got a better deal than most.

Could I also get the contact info for your rep? I'm not sure if michael is coming back and I plan on buying in the next day or two as my old m1530 died on me, so I'm going with withdrawals and having to borrow a buddies laptop since I'm away from home currently.

Do we have to haggle with that sales rep. on the phone or do they make discount on chat too? I am not a US citizen so it will be very expensive to call USA :(

I read somewhere that they are not allowed to give any discounts via chat. Calling them is your best bet, as they will definitely be able to give you a discount over the phone.

Repsonded to everyone with my reps info. Super nice guy and he said 5 people have bought off of him and were really cool.

Only one guy is giving him a hard time, and I'm trying to find out who it is on the forums right now. When I do I am having his discount from Dell Blocked, I told you the rule if I gave you info. NO HAGGLING.

i'm not entirely convinced that all the people who do sales online through chat work for commission. They also probably talk to dozens of people a day, so they're not going to try harder for one person when they can get three or more people pushed through in the same amount of time who are willing to pay full price.

hah, how are you going to do that? call your rep and tell him to not earn commission off someone because you told them that they couldn't haggle?

I already called him and told my rep to not offer him my discount for his purchase. I'm doing this for you guys to help you out, not so you can try to work the system. I warned that person when I PM'd them and they didn't follow the rules, they just lost a huge discount.

wow... this worked like a dream!!!! ordered an m17x r3 on 4/15 my first time... hadn't read this post and was swimming in buyers remorse, but after reading further in i found more confidence in calling back and CANCELING my first order, which i did, asked for the same order and preceded to get one discount after another, first Next Business Day shipping, then 50$ added to my already $50 discount coupon, then i tried for an addition $50... was unable to attain it, i haggled a lil bit more and gained $75 on top of my normal $50 coupon plus NBD!! plus don't forget to say your a student at a university... 24 months of anti-virus security free!! so around a $250 savings from this great post thx again! :) :) :)  :D :D

Hey Maynard could you please PM me your rep. I priced a system with another rep and he was a great guy and very friendly but seemed like he was not able to get much done. He quoted me 1780+ tax for -

    2630QM
    8GB
    6970
    320gb
    1920x1080 not 3D
    INtel 6300
    regualr dvd slot
regular 1yr basic warranty and everything else basic configure.

Doesnt seem that good compared to what even Zerg just posted. Mine would have been $1926 with tax.

Also dont know if you all know this but my rep mentioned if you get less than 8gb configuration that you get a different motherboard that only has 2 dimms. So you can only go max 8gb in the future. 8gb configs can go 16gb in the future. Just something i wasnt sure if you all knew. :)

YOur guy will get a buy from me also. I have been swaying back and forth between xoticpc np8750 and the m17x. Leaning toward the m17x now that the price is more comparable with the discounts. Also unlike the np8170 the alienware uses the integrated gpu to extend the battery correct? Anyone who has a m17x able to confirm there are only 2 dimm slots compared to somebody that ordered a m17x with 8gb and four dimm slots. Would like to know before i buy.

Too bad Maynard doesn't get any commission, but at least he saved a lot of money by switching to geico. I mean a better rep.

I ordered mine on April 13th and got it today. I wasn't even expecting the computer yet and boom FedEx was at my front door. I just sold my W870CU and I have to tell you a few things in comparison.

    1. Screen is 9000000000 better than the Sager screen, seriously.

    2. Keyboard, oh god the keyboard is so effin' nice. It's lit and you can change colors (although a fad, I was so happy when I could change it to orange :))

    3. Whisper quiet. I'm running WoW

actually I'm going to create a thread for my review coming from owning a Sager for almost a year and a half. Probably would help some people out when comparing the two.

Only downside is that I have to send this back because I'm going to order the M18x next month, but for the next 15 days I'm going to have fun :)

You got it in a week? That's pretty ridiculous. Better inspect it for problems. I don't see the hype in the m18x aside from having two gpus. Is that basically it? M17x with 2 gpus?

On second thought I'll go do my research, don't want to derail thread.

The rep i talked to confirmed no difference except that it has 1 inch large screen, same resolution and sli and crossfire capable. He said that the dell rep was training them all on it today and they got to play some games on it before going back to work. He did tell me something bad though. He said it weighs about 20lbs. they had the m17 and 18m next to each other so they can point out differences and then they were able to mess with the new one. He said he literally picked it up and it felt at least 40% heavier than the m17 they had there. Maybe it was configurations but isnt that a bit high??

P.S. hey thats 5 Maynard. Thanx again

P.S.S. He also said that they should be ready to sell in a few weeks, likely mid next month. He even said pricing would start at about $2000.

Hey..I'm from Singapore and am interested in getting Maynard's rep too. Do you know if dell accepts international credit cards or paypal paid using international credit cards?
