AW/DELL Ordering Advice - How to save $$$

Maynards rep will also be getting a guaranteed buy from me. Even though I badly need a replacement laptop, I'm waiting to see a few more reviews of the m18x looks before I jump on the m17x. I often suffer from just missing out on the next big thing, so I'm going to wait till I see a few more reviews.

 

I'd suggest hopping over to the m18x thread to see if that is the right laptop for you. While it's the newest it may exceed your budget and/or your needs.

 

Me from singapore too. Seems like the cheapest solution would be ordering and flying over to get it. However u need a home address for dell to deliver to.

Next would be HIDEvolution. However shippings cost rocket to USD$200.

Buying it in Singapore would cost USD$500 more. With limited customization options. Gosh i hate it when i pay more yet get the same thing.

got $64 off my dell canada m14x purchase. was $1544 before tax and they lowered it to $1480, they said it was the lowest they could go. I went with a 2nd rep for the order and the one i talked to yesterday is calling me back tonight so i may see if i can put them against each other lol. My m14x was the base model + upgraded screen + 4 year NBD warranty.

I have read through this thread completely I think, but don't remember seeing if this was asked before. Does anyone know if they had greater discounts with either male or female sales reps? I assume the reps are predominantly male to begin with, but just wondering if anyone have worked with female reps and had good pricing? Or was there completely no difference at all?

 

International is not going to happen guys this is US only. Maybe Canada, I'm still waiting on word of that.

You can ask hidevolution to ship to vpost, which is a subsidiary of singpost. Way way cheaper also. Yesterday I was in dell chat and they apparently can't mail to a freight forwarder

I think you have to be active for a little bit before PM's are available to you. Or maybe you have to get a certain number of posts in. Not sure - I can't PM yet either.

I agree completely. Bottom line is if you just joined 5 minutes ago and you have 5 posts, don't expect a response. Sorry guys this isn't about quantity for my contact, it's about quality. The guys who are coming to me with 6 posts and "HEY YA, I CAN GET INFO DELL REP YOU GOOD?" is not going to happen. I'm not trying to be a stickler, I'm simply trying to get my guy some nice business that is reputable, professional, and most of all a nice guy/gal.

Reason why? 2 separate people, both with 10 or less posts and joined this month, have:
A. Haggled him to death and even, somehow, found out his manager's email and emailed him about my contact being rude(Which is absurd)
B. Have cursed at him for not being able to send to a different country or not abiding by their every command.

I'm not trying to be the gestapo with my contact, I simply made a friend through Dell EPP at my company and though "Hey NBR has been a cool community and introduced me to a lot of stuff I wouldn't have known about, I should help out the people on there". I'm sure the members that have been around understand.

The good news is that, with the 2 exceptions, the rest of the people I've spoke with have been AWESOME!

That is flat out ridiculous. The guy doesn't have to give any discounts at all, you know? He is doing a favor to these people and the nerve some people have to curse at him? If I was the rep, I would have hung up on the person.

Its also really funny the amount of people that have joined this forum in the last month and posted in this thread just to get the ability to PM Maynard.......I don't find that odd at all........

 

Well, it's good there's an emphasis on quality and not just quantity of posts. Some have been around awhile and post only to ask specific questions and/or provide details for an item...some post because they surf the internet often, others post because it's what they do...forum jump. To each their own!

I, for one, will punish those who are bothering this rep - he's helping us out, and if many get buggered because of the actions of a few - vengeance is mine!

 

We should require some kind of link to your ebay account to check your feedback too to see if you've been doing good business =p

I went ahead and ordered already though because while I was waiting for Maynard, I read back farther in this post, as well as other posts under the alienware topic, and found out I qualified for aaefs. Long story short, got a very good cpu, 6970, 1080p screen and memory upgraded setup for $1500 w/ no tax and shipping. So indirectly, thank you Maynard. And do what you need to, to protect your guy. I may be new here but I know not to burn a bridge with someone offering something they dont have to...

Yeah, I know. Maynard's rep was easy to deal with, polite and the quote he came back with was amazing from the get go. Anybody who tried to haggle on top of that really has their priorities mixed up given the deep discounts the rep provided.

 

I'm one of the new guys who stumbled upon the NBR site while researching Alienware (and I'm one of those who didn't know about the 5 post mininum).

I had received a pm to/from Maynard regarding how to contact his rep; I have sent his rep a basic email on friday/saturday and am looking forward to purchasing from him once the m18x becomes available. Thank you again for that information Maynard. =)

It is sad that someone didn't think what Maynards rep offered was good enough, as what he offers is a very hard to beat discount. I especially like the fact about no haggling, as I am terrible at it. I find it amazing that someone trying to haggle went through the trouble of finding and complaining to his higher ups.

I also tried to add to Maynards rep power a few days ago since that has been discussed as well.

I was thinking of ordering the m18x when it comes out and would like to give my business to your rep. I also know that the discounts he was offering isn't something to laugh at. So would it be possible to send me his info? Also as a side note, m18x is said to be out the beginning of next month (1st/2nd week), at least that was what a Dell rep told me...
