Hang up, wait and call back and get someone else. Or better yet, wait for the next deal to come around and buy then...

Faded Something: I got that exact same set up for $100 less. No special discounts or anything, just EPP. Just proves that it depends on which rep you get.

Can anybody confirm this? Can we actually call back and see if they'll apply a coupon on after you make the purchase? For example, I bought mine 5 days ago so its still in production and since I used a Dell Preferred account, I won't be billed for 30 days.

What was the process you went through to do this? Did you call your sales rep to cancel the order and he immediately offered you the $63?

Also, what were the specs of your M11x? Want to know if the deal I got is any good. Thanks!

tell me why I just got off the phone with a rep and we have rapport........I had two computers in my cart the m18x and the m11x. I wanted to just get one and what not, she stated if I got both I would get a managers special. So I got all excitied and we finished up and she was about to to email me the order and I said WAIT!!! what is the price and how much was this special?!?!? She told me your total is 3,900 after a $100 discount! I was like ?!?!? she told me I got $50 off the 18x and $50 off the m11.............I wanted to hang up on her lol I told her that I could get a coupon for 50 off a laptop myself. I was shocked! So please someone please PM me with info to a rep that wants to give me a better deal then that and someone that wants my business.

5-1-000- here is a thread with some refurb ordering advice. the word is you can't really haggle with the refurb reps, but it sure can't hurt. Also, you can sign-up for discount email alerts. They do offer some pretty good discount about once a month. Good luck

That sucks man. The same thing happened to me though. I would like that info too, but i need at least five posts for that. Lols. I mean for a discount by the sales rep, it should be a little more then that. . .They give you a coupon on their site for 50 bucks off. People have to make money someway right? That's some crazy special though.

CONGRATULATIONS YOU JUST GOT THE MANAGERS SPECIAL. Aren't you lucky? ;p

I got screwed today big time. Using my military discount Had the M14x base model for $930 EPP was like $270, built my computer which only came out to about 1200. Left for the day came back to buy it and apparently the exchange site was updated and my discount is now only $60..!!!! So pissed, called dell and they said to bad so sad basically. I guess my next step is to contact the the exchange dell rep. Does anyone have any advise? Maybe somone with access to AAFES Exchange website?

That sucks man. There is suppose to be another sale for students around may 22nd or so. It shouldn't be a hassle to you since you're military and you pretty much CAN get into any school.
Oh can someone pm some good US sales rep; i seriously don't want to pay 100-200 more bucks then what others are buying the same exact laptop. =(

I know people are PM'ing me asking for my rep and I haven't responded yet. I apologize for the lack of response, but I was waiting to hear back from my friend before I sent his info out. At the current moment there are really no specials to be had.

If you want I will gladly forward you his information, I told him I would and he was fine with it, and you can contact him. As I stated 20 pages ago, my only rule is that you do not Haggle. The rep I giving you is my Personal EPP rep that I have bought 20+ laptops off in the past 3 months and sent over $130k in business. This isn't some Joe Schmoe in India (no offense) who I'm handing out for abuse.

If you are interested send me a PM, but understand that there isn't a whole lot of budge right now with systems. If you are M18x shopping do not bother PM'ing me, because there are NO deals on this at the moment. The profit margin on the M18x is very slim at the moment (due to the lowering of the CFX configuration) and I was barely able to get my special deal from him because it was below cost.

Whoa, I type too fast lol :)

My rep is still handing out discounts if anyone is interested, PM me.

Might take up to 2 days to reply since I work double full time jobs right now, but I've received some replies thus far and people have been very, very happy.

US-only, please ...unless you're a Canadian picking it up in the US or if anyone is having it forwarded from a US address, then to another country.

    Only works on US-addresses.

    Cheers.

(answered about 40 PM's so far :p ...but I know what it feels like being tight on money. I will not be monitoring this thread so shoot me a pm)

Hey man. Not to come off as a mooch, but I've been dealing with semi-lingual Dell representatives for the past 3 days and I've about had it. If you could help me out, that'd be great. I'm looking to pay about $1,050 for an M14X. Shoot me a PM :)

I used Hideto's rep and he was awesome! I was originally looking at the m14x, but after pricing it learned that I could get the xps 15 with better specs for a better price so went with that. I don't plan on doing much gaming so it works for me, mainly plan on using it for programming and multimedia. The main reason I wanted the m14x was for the looks, wow factor, and the multi colored backlit keyboard. He even threw in a bunch of "free" upgrades. Here's what I got:

not sure if it's been said, but you can order a $300-$500 dell eGift card and get a free $50 one. now you can't use them both on the same order, so save the free $50 and use it separately to order like a back pack or some accessory

I haven't had any success with a lowering of the M14x price..
The one in the "featured promotions" is already 100$ off, plus a 50$ cupon that floats around on the internet, and a 4% epp got me from 1399$ (w/o tax) to 1320$ with tax. He says he can't take any more off.. should I call another rep?

as others have said, there's not a whole lot goin on as far as discounts atm.. supposedly their back to school sale stuff starts the 22nd. that would be the best time to try again (when somethin pops up relating to alienware that is..)

unless you get really, really lucky with a rep, you can't expect a huge discount to fall into your lap when there isn't some sort of promotion going on. even if a rep gives you a big discount, there's a chance it wont be approved by their management and your order will get cancelled.

since it's a few weeks until back to school time, you can either use this free time to call a shat load of reps to see if you can get a good deal, or you can find something constructive to do to occupy you until the next discount season starts :)

Yeah, just wait for the back to school sale. Like most folks, reps like to also take the path of least resistance so having to go back to a manager for every discount is a pain in the for them too, especially if they might not even get the sale (which equals $0 commission).

It'd be nice if they had a save $400 on xfire (bundled) sale and tack on another 20-30% on top of that with the rep! :)

Certainly possible with the Canadian xfire being only $150 more.

Anyone work for any State or Federal government agencies that have used the EPP program to get any decent discounts? I noticed even using the State Employee EPP discount on the website it only shaves about $30 off the M17x R3. I've pretty much read through this entire thread as I've enjoyed hearing about everyone's crazy deals and the pure excitement that each of you must have felt has got me excited to finally try my hand at ordering from Dell again.

I had a very bad experience over Christmas ordering an XPS from them where (to make a long story short) they sent me a non-full hd screen and flat out told me numerous times it was the full 1920x1080 screen. After "allowing" an engineer remotely to try for over 2 hours to get the screen to go to 1920x1080 (with myself enjoying every minute of it), he finally gave up and said there was something wrong with my laptop. I assured him that if he just looked up the part number that I gave him for the monitor he would see that it was not the correct screen. Well, anyways, they tried to get me to keep it by giving me discounts, but the screen was even scratched upon arrival, so there was no way I was keeping it and returned it within days. In the end, they gave me $100 off my next purchase from Dell so I'm thinking, after reading this thread through, an M17x may be in my future.

I'm in the US and would be wanting to speak with an EPP representative about the purchase of an M17x using my State employee discount. The only changes I'd want to the base system is the 2720qm, the 6970m, and the Intel 6300 wireless card. I'm not too much of a haggler so if any of you guys have a great Rep to work with I would appreciate a reference (as I know unfortunately Maynard's may be on the busy side, by the way, gave +1 to ya Maynard, and thanks for helping to put so many smiles on some gaming geeks' faces :p). Keep posting, everyone, as I've never seen so many perma-grins from getting great deals in my life!

To get the student or military discount, what proof does Alienware require? :)

That you are actually eligible for these discounts.

Hello, I'm just wondering if ordering by phone I can also use that pay monthly thing having a dell preferred account for an alienware m17x r3?

I am curious as to your guys takes on the follow: I contacted a Dell sales rep whose contact I got from a member here.

I wanted to get a M11x r1 and something for my wife, with a price point of around $1000. Sadly, it seems the $599 M11x are all gone (clearance to get rid of them). He went ahead and priced an entry level M11x r2 and an entry level Inspiron 14R (for my wife).

The subtotal was ~$1570. He was able to shave $150 taking it down to $1420. Not even 10%, lackluster :(

With the loss of the $599 price, I think an M11x is out of my range now. The rep seemed to be very upfront and honest about how much he could get taken off. He even said that he worked well with that days manager and given that it was near the end of the day, he felt confident he could get the $150. But that seems such a meager amount (it apparently included the DPA pricing).

Do you think this is the best I can get, or should I try again (potentially with a different rep?). He did offer to throw in a wireless printer (wasn't sure if it was free or not), though I declined since I am moving overseas and do not need another item to ship/sell before going.

P.S. I know recently there was a "Farmers" discount that people were using to get good deals (like ~20%?). What exactly was this "farmers" deal?

    Thanks!

I'm pretty upset that the $599 M11x R1s are all gone. I was literally about to buy one. I *would* have bought one on Monday night if my brother hadn't told me he was going to buy it for me as a gift. Then he disappeared at random for a couple days and didn't return my calls because he's a self-absorbed jerk who does that every now and then, and now they're all gone, even though I had the money to get one on my own and waited because of him. Oh well. Life, truly, is not fair sometimes. Maybe I can just guilt him into getting me an R3 now! Perhaps there is a bright side.

Call up sales and ask if there is anything they can do to assist. Chances are, they will be more than willing to work with you. They are pretty forgiving when it comes to a near miss on a promo. Call and talk to a rep.

Also, there's supposedly a back-to-school sale coming soon (in a week?) so the reps may have more leeway then.

I might have to call and talk to the rep again and see if there aren't any M11x R1s lying around, though I doubt it. Mine also seemed fairly assured that all he could get me was $150 off but only if I also got a laptop for my wife at the same time...

Oh and BatBoy from what my rep told me, the $599 on the R1s was a clearance price. They were, according to him, losing $100 on each one at the price. So I doubt they could price even the most basic R2s near that level, though I'd hopefully they'd be able to drop it more than what I was quoted.

Anyone have a NA based rep they are handing out Pm's for still. You can see my post in the "What Notebook should I buy?" thread right now really trying to budget for the M17x with a lot of the bells and whistles I just would rather save some money on it being I already own a Alienware Area 51 and just finally paid it off. Love these forums and thanks for the assistance! Everyone here has been so friendly and awesome place to get quality information.

...and it doesn't hurt to try :) If you are ready to close the sale during that call, you'll be amazed at what can be accomplished with a bit of smiley talk and time spent chatting with the rep.

    Always worth a shot.

Can anyone PM me a good rep to talk with, perhaps? I am quite personable, respectful, and generally easy to speak with - I've got a decent track record when it comes to establishing rapport and sweet-talking salesmen, although I rarely have the opportunity to do it these days, admittedly. I'm just a bit nervous at the prospect of calling up Dell and getting some random fellow whom I know absolutely nothing about it - it'd be nice to get a bit of assurance that whomever I'm going to speak with is at least willing to work with me somewhat. Thanks in advance for any help, I truly appreciate it. :)

Quite true, quite true. I sent my rep an email mentioning that I found some M11x R1s in my price range on ebay, but that they were used, and was curious if there were new M11xs he could dig up for me.

Hopefully he'll take that hint... if not I'll be more direct when I talk to him later this week.

Also, I asked him about the M102z, which is from my understanding the Dell equivalent to the HP dm1z. However I don't think they sell them in the US (yet?) anyone have any intel on these?

Hmmm, can anyone explain the farmer's discount and clarify the rumors of a back-to-school sale? I'm seriously this close to buying an Envy, but I'd rather get me an AW beauty...

I've been told by numerous dell reps that the back to school sale will most likely not affect alienware as most parents aren't buying their children 2,000 dollar laptops. Not sure about the farmers discount though.
