You got a great deal, but I think % off is calculated by dividing from the original amount, not the discounted amount so I believe you got a 34.4% discount which is still the highest I've probably seen...
50% off would've resulted in you paying $2298.5.
-
Ya, cool thanks for that info Joecait.
I did $3013 +52% to get 4579 bucks which was close enough. I didn't want to decimal it. hehe
So the other way 4597 - 34.4% is correct @ 3015 ish. lol to be exact.... 34.45725473134653%
+1 rep for being helpful. -
I received an extra $240 off my system for calling in to return my laptop
.
-
Seriously? That's quite a bribe by Dell.
What was your supposed reason for returning the laptop? How much haggling was required? -
I had to talk to several reps but the rep that offered me money required little haggling.
-
Do you guys think that I can get a bit knocked off my m14x with i7 2820 + gt555m 3b + 900p + 1600mhz 6gb ddr3 computer?
It was quoted via the website dell at 1899$, with that weird "instant 200$ limited time offer' which by the way, anyone know how long that offer is lasting??? -
Are the discounts that you are talking about only for US or can they be negotiated in Europe as well? Can any Dell specialist confirm this? Would be sick to get it for that price here!
-
Is it possible to get some money off when trying the chat? I am ordering from abroad so cannot use the toll free lines. I want to buy an m18x worth 3.5k, but so far only got a 2 % epp discount and 75 $ off using coupon. Thanks
-
So, I missed the Hot Summer Savings (HSS) offer by one day and now the only real discount I've been able to encourage was a bump from the listed 2% EPP deal to a 3% one. I've tried 3 over the phone reps and have had no luck getting them to budge on that 3% offer. I suck at haggling. I think I am going to wait and see if another deal comes along similar to the HSS
-
Yes it is. I got an M17x configured at $2.2k for $1.8k. I had to chat in a few different times until I got someone who was willing to haggle.
-
I probably will not haggle much. I believe in helping sales people WHO HAVE BEEN GOOD to get a good commission.
I don't like dragging everyone down to the lowest common denominator especially if they have done a good job for me. -
Hi can you email me your sales rep info ljohnson4?
Also could someone PM MaynardLD50 to email me his rep's information since I don't have privileges to yet? -
Do you guys think Dell is going to have some deals with going back to school on the M18x? Thanks.
-
yeah i got a 3.6% discount, they werent going to budge at all
-
Wow I'm over my budget by 200$ but I think I can squeeze it out of my family since it's my birthday soon.
Shout out to nactownag (sales rep) and Wesfry92. I really think this guy hooked me up.
From the base model I was only looking to add the Radeon HD 6990M and the 1920 x 1080 60Hz screen. With that I was looking at 1789$ through AAFES and 1949$ regular priced.
I tried contacting a few people through the chat but there weren't very interested in working with me to reduce the price. It was around 11pm though. After browsing through the thread I came across Wesfry92 saying nactownag gave him a great deal so I emailed him. This guy responded within 10 minutes. I told him the two upgrades I was looking for and he said he'd see what he could do.
Next morning and my eyes about popped out of my head. He'd added:
Radeon HD 6990M
1920 x 1080 60Hz screen
8GB Dual Channel DDR3
Killer Wireless-N 1103
3 Year Limited Warranty
Accidental Damage Service, 3 Years
All for 1,900$ w/ tax.
I configured this laptop through the AAFES and it cost 2,235$
W/out any discount it was 2,567$
This was all through email. I made some half-hearted attempts w/ some sales reps through the phone but none could even come close to this. If you want his sales rep info PM me but his gmail account is just his username@gmail. He says he's only going to be working there for another month so hurry if you want to work with him. -
Anybody know how often the good deals rotate around? I wanted to order using the 15% off deal for $900 upgrade, but because they took too long getting my credit back after returning the first laptop I ordered(they still haven't gotten it back to me) I missed it. I'm hoping to try and convince them to give me the 15% off my order due to me sending the first one back on the advice from THEM that they would be able to extend me credit once they confirmed they had the laptop back and they didn't, but we'll see what happens. At this point I'm thinking of waiting until a good deal shows up again and just wondering how often a deal like that comes around? The new one they have up is pretty crappy by comparison. I'm ending up paying $150 more than the other deal.
-
I'm really confused... I bought my M18x in my sig for $2,722 and that's with a 25% discount. How are you getting Nearly the same specs for so much less? Am I reading something wrong? That's unbelievable.
-
You have 2 graphic cards
-
There's no option for a single 6990M card, unless that is a very special request. Even if it is only one, that is still an amazing deal.
-
Guys, I'm pretty sure he is talking about an M17x, not an M18x.
-
Woops, I guess I forgot that this is the general Alienware forum...
-
Sorry guys. In the excitement I forgot to put what laptop
M17xR3 Officially ordered it yesterday. Only games I'll play on consoles from now on will be exclusives. Everything else PC
Good luck to everyone else. -
is this nactownag a sales rep for american dell or would i be able to contact him for purchasing off the Canadian alienware site aswell?
-
it might be an M17x
-
do alienwares stack with the microsoft xbox thing?
-
I've been watching Alienware prices pretty closely for about 3 months. Something decent is going almost every month. When I started watching at the end of May early June, they had $250 off Alienware Outlet laptops. People got 2720, 6970, 1080p systems for $1300ish shipped with that deal, refurbs sure, but a great price. AAFES had 22% off w/o tax but that is gone now too. The best was last months 25% of EPP, I made out on that one myself, I bought 2 systems, and sold one for $300 profit. I got a 2720, 6990, 1080p w/4 year complete care for $1930 shipped.
My point is... WAIT! Something good will be along in a few weeks or so, but you have to pay attention. If you follow the forum on a daily or every other day basis you should see what is happening. Set a # for yourself and tell yourself you will jump then. Anything at 20% or better is outstanding, 15% is good if you can't wait longer.
I would not try and negotiate to a 20% off price, there really needs to be a sale. A better way to negotiate would be to find a USA rep you like, and let them know as soon as a 20% off deal is available you will buy. Ask if they can email you their deals or add you to their mailing list. Maybe they'll pull something out to get you to buy right then (but probably not). -
Hi all, I contacted nactowneg as well with my purchase and he got a very good quote for me as well. He is an US sales rep. I originally wanted the standard config + 2720, 750gb HDD, Dual 6990, Killer Wifi, Wireless HD transmitter, 3 years advanced. He mentioned they now had a lot of discounts on RAM so in the end I decided on the 16 GB 1600. Full price (before tax) is $3k. I guess if I tried to configure online the price would be slightly over 4k, so 25% off. PM me if you need the contact details.
-
15% would suit me just fine since that was what I was trying to get and willing to pay when the deal came along the first time. I'm trying to get the price under 2400 after tax. If I get anything better than 15% I will name my first child after the sales rep.
The only problem with some of the deals you mentioned is that AAFES and EPP don't really apply to me(well I think the EPP does from the student standpoint but I recall the 25% off didn't apply to students). I've never really been one to haggle prices down because I suffer from nice-guy-ism. The only time I become a is when i feel like I have been wronged in some way or I feel like I'm being jerked around, which may help in this case because the only reason I returned the first laptop was because I was told that it would probably be possible to be given a temporary credit extension to purchase a new laptop before the August 4th deadline, and then I didn't hear anything at all from Dell regarding the matter except "We are working with the Finance Department to try and expedite the process", so I do feel they owe me the 15%(though I would also accept an XBOX because I am a student and paying for a windows 7 system over 699, but I am not getting my hopes up on that). -
There is only one alienware laptop that is available for the free Xbox 360 offer and that's the M14X and there's no room for customization. the specs are:
Intel® Core i7 2630QM 2.0GHz (2.9GHz w/Turbo Boost, 6MB Cache)
WIRELESS CARDS Intel® Wireless-N WiFi Link 1000 a/g/n 1x2
MEMORY 6GB DDR3 at 1600MHz
VIDEO CARD 1.5GB DDR3 NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 555M using NVIDIA Optimus technology
HARD DRIVE 500GB 7200RPM SATA 3Gb/s
LCD PANEL 14.0" High Def+ (900p/1600x900) with WLED backlight
INTERNAL OPTICAL DRIVE 8x SuperMulti DVD±R/RW Slot Load Optical Drive

I did the same and he gave me a great deal as well. Almost maxed out the system.
-
he also gave me an incredible deal. even though i sort of have buyers remorse about getting a m18 instead of m17. deal was just too good to pass up
-
i mailed him 2 days ago about an m14x, but got no answer so far
-
Same here. Hoping to hear back from him soon because I intend to buy it this week.
-
did you email his gmail or dell email?
-
gmail. His username @ gmail.com. I don't even know his dell email.
-
Gmail aswell
-
For some reason I am having trouble figuring out how to PM I was wondering if you could pass me the contect details? Or if someone could give me a US reps contact info? I am looking to buy in the next couple weeks. Thank you very much. And I am sorry for being a newb not not being able to figure out where the PM button is.
-
You need to have a certain number of quality posts to PM.
-
Ok Thank you I appreciate the tip. Thought I was just being stupid.
-
Nactonag is not accepting PM's, or at least not mine, so it would probably be better emailing him/her.
-
Ok can you give me his e-mail?
-
+100 for Nactonag he hooked it up on a m18x for me
(THANKS AGAIN MAN!)
Hit him up on the email address he posted in this thread (some pages ago)
For anyone who wants his contact information shoot me a PM, he is only going to be working there until Sept 5, 2011. So strike while the iron is hot (he saved me about 1300 bucks on my purchase) Deals vary of course based on promotions/etc. -
Its his username here @gmail.com
-
after how long did he answer you?
-
Nactonag is not accepting emails either...i think the gmail account was shut down.
UPDATE: user name is nactownag. so typo on my end.lol -

-

-

-
I want to get an M17x but i cant spend too much money on it. Is there any chance someone would PM me nactownag's Dell email to see if he can get me some discount?
-
I went from email to order in one day. I must have got him at the right time. I sent you his work email that he responded to me from and said was ok to send to folks who were interested. Try that email
