Hello everyone,

-
eh, with the # of people asking me via PM for your info I should get a cut
-
I cant send a PM... any1 know why???
nactownag> I sent u an email~~ -
I am looking at getting a m18x Loaded to be delivered before Oct28th.
Can you please contact me at [email protected] and we can get something going. I priced one out but i need to get a deal on it. thanks -
I think you need to contact him.
-
halfcraft...read nactownag's post 2 pages back..he explains what you need to do when you email him.
give him your name, phone number, address, and the exact specs you are looking for. he will get you a decent deal...but you have about 12 hours to contact him...for a really good deal. -
ahh.. sorry nactownag on clogging your email. i didnt see this post until this morning! i was concerned that something went amiss in rl.
i'll send you what i was specifically looking for.
once again, sorry bud. Gl on your new job if i dont get the chance to buy from or with you!
/bow
maybe someone who had done a purchase can help.
What items are or how are they being upgraded? ie. can i request a lower proc and maybe get that upgraded? or the gpu i can ask for 1 and maybe get sli/xfire at a good discount?
for gaming i dont need the extreme processors but in the area51/alx thats all they carry.
thanks for the help.
(funny this started as a laptop deal for me and expanded to a desktop.)
Oh, can he assist with refrub pricing also?
he must be a busy man.. we need to get him a tip jar!!! -
think he cant do anything with outlet prices, not sure tho.
-
This really sucks! Where was this guy when i ordered my laptop a month ago? I feel like dell screwed me for 23% discount instead of 30%! Thats a lot of money difference
-
23% discount is nothing to sneeze about. Most people when talking to rep are lucky to get 5%-10% discount. Hey like everything thing it Technology prices change day to day. Be happy you have a great laptop at a really good price.
-
Sorry to hear that! With the way technology progresses, we are bound to be disappointed about the price we pay now versus later down the road.
-
My suggestion to you is this. Figure out what build you would be happy with(assuming you will get no upgrades from nactownag) and then e-mail him those specs. He will try to get you the best deal he can on what you ask for. He only upgraded the memory on the system I ordered. Ask for the best CPU, GPU, etc. that you want or need. Do not go in with a baseline anything thinking "I hope he upgrades that for free" because after he came in an did his big speech, will just aggravate him and slow the process down.
Shoot for the moon, and you should get a pretty good deal.(though I would suggest, take the system you want, then subtract 20% and if you can't afford that, then scale back a few things that you don't need or can replace yourself at a lower price) -
Yes i did that. i asked for my top of the line items with very little regard to price and then i asked him once more for my bare bone system. I have to sorta justify the price. i cant thank him enough for all the hassles i myself have inflicted upon him. a simple thank you wouldnt be enough!
thanks! -
I'd send him a christmas ham.
-
i dont think it would keep till then.. hmmmm. @_@
-
I sent an email but he didnt reply....He cant help anymore after today??
-
Got in under the wire and snagged a sweet deal on my ideal M18x. Better than the 25% Hot Summer Savings, really.
Sent an email with all the info, got the quote and a reply. About as simple as it gets. If more Dell reps operated like that, I think they'd sell even more.
For anyone else wanting to get in on the deal, your best bet is really to just config what you WANT. In return you get the lowest quote that setup can be had for, and sometimes with additional upgrades and occasionally with other odd accessories that seem like additional cost but actually lower the price because they make up for any lost margin. You may get a bigger hard drive, more memory, or a accidental damage upgrade or longer warranty, but that probably depends on the day/week and what they are pushing the reps to sell/add.
This is probably the best way of getting the best deal I've ever seen, since you skip all the time and hassle of haggling, you don't have to deal with the time and cost of upgrading base level parts or keeping them for warranty or selling them to recoup some dough, and chances are high that the quote you get back will have better specs than the request you sent, so it's fun seeing what you get. -
Nactownag, I sent an email yesterday but never got a reply.
Is it still going to be possible for you to get me a quote after today?
-
Me too.
-
Thanks Jason for the quick quote !! ORdered this afternoon.
Good Luck with whatever your new job and adventures take you.
MJG -
U seem to be a lucky guy among those who have jsut sent him an email.
-
I've sent a Message to Nactownag's Gmail,
Could anyone give me his Dell email?
Thanks in Advance. -
His email info is located a few pages back.
So is his post about the information to include when emailing for a quote, and advice from others on getting the best deal.
Read the last few pages of this thread and you should know what to do. -
I looked for the Dell email and couldn't find it. The gmail one I found. I'm no expert in Forum Navigation.
EDIT: Nevermind, it doesn't matter he's not in office
Does anyone else have a good Rep they'd be willing to share?
Looking into an M14x and would love to get a discount.. -
Me 2. I m looking for a M14x.
The base configuration is too bad. No High Def+
-
Man are you somethin'.. Stay in the Dell Department yeah? I'll be buying another sonn! xD
You're awesomeness is appreciated man. -
Sent quotes request to jason. Hope he have time to read his email tonight.
-
Hi all,
I am interested in getting a M14x and I am trying to get the price down. Any help or suggestion would be greatly helpful since I could only find the $50 off coupon and I can use that or my student EPP (2%) but not both. Also when I spoke to a representative he was giving me a max discount of $100. The current discounts on the dell website (free upgrade to 750gb hdd and $100 off 8gb ram) are valid only till aug 25th so I am trying to order it in the next 2 days. Right now after tax and rep discount, its coming to around $1500. -
Anyone heard back from Jason today?
-
Anyone have a good Canadian rep that will actually give me more then a 50 dollar discount.... PM me contact info please, gone through 6 reps and none are willing to budge on the price, and its a 2000+ dollar system....
-
Jason is busy moving i guess. i emailed him 2 weeks ago and never hear from him
-
O well. By the way, dell is having a offer of buy a $500 gift card and get a $75 promotional gift card valid for 3 months. The offer is only running till Sep 1st.
-
So I'm curious for the people that managed to get around 100 bucks or more off the machine was this with other discounts applied? I have been gearing my purchase around a dell preferred account which comes with a 3% discount and then there is the $50 off coupon and the $100 of promotion now.
I haggled with a rep for quite a bit and got the call escalated to some pricing department but they were pretty firm on the total price I'm getting online, this isn't my first time at it either, I pulled out all the stops but none gave in.
So are people somehow managing to get more discounts on top of what is offered online already or is this something different? -
yes people are getting more discounts then whats offered online, i got 100 dollars off but im still not satisfied and didnt buy 1. 100$ off is nothing when ur purchasing such an expensive system. The key to haggling is not to be attactched. Im not too worried because eventually ill get the price i want. Im not going to empty out my wallet so those overseas reps can make the most commision possible. I could care less if they are under payed etc... why should i have to pay for it. If anything ill buy another system from another company and save 500+ dollars. I only want an AW cause of the design and backlit keys.
-
From what I've seen in the forums sometimes reps give out large discount (20-25% off) because of a promotion or just for the hell of it.
There was a rep that was passed around here recently that was giving out that kind of discount to people that emailed him. However, I don't think he's accepting any more emails at the moment.
My advice is just to wait...back to school season is here...and the holidays are just around the corner. There should be something coming up soon. Hopefully -_- -
Hey guys, first time poster so i hope I'm asking in the right thread.
This was during the 48-hour sale last week:
Dell XPS 15
2nd generation Intel® Core™ i7-2630QM processor 2.00 GHz with Turbo Boost 2.0 up to 2.90 GHz
Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium, 64bit, English
NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 540M 2GB graphics with Optimus
8GB Shared Dual Channel DDR3 Memory
750GB 7200 RPM SATA Hard Drive
15.6 FHD B+RGLED TL (1920x1080) and Skype-Certified 2.0MP HD Webcam
Tray Load Blu-ray Disc BD-Combo (Reads BD and Writes to DVD/CD)
Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 1000
56 WHr 6-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery
Backlit Keyboard - English
Got them to upgrade for free to
Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 1030 & Bluetooth 3.0 ($20 value)
and throw in a Dell bluetooth mouse (30$ value?)
For ~$1080 + tax + enviro fee = ~$1220.
Do you think i could've gotten them to lower the price more?
With the Dell XPS series, should i get an extended warranty?
I'm located in Ontario, Canada
Thanks -
just wanted to know where to send the christmas ham to? Got a real good deal, (well.. probably way better then i could have hoped for.)
i wont post the specifics until i actually get the system in my hands!
He did a real nice job on upgrades and pricing. (it was for a desktop, which he stated has a low margin to begin with), he upgraded and added a few items.
Hope he can help more people and maybe provide a new guy that we can work with in the future.
Of note, i would suggest, pick the system that you really want to buy and send it in. let him do what he does and i am sure it will come back cheaper but also with more choices.
/bow -
3rd Time was a charm for me. The rep I spoke with got me an additional 100 bucks off the system and then another 50 bucks off a separate battery I ordered for another older laptop.
All in all I'm satisfied it pays to be persistent for sure. Both of the first two reps were in India I believe, and I have a feeling there on shorter leashes. -
I tried ordering with the quote Jason got me using the www.dell.com/qto link, but everytime I tried to buy the system, it wanted to charge me shipping for all the shipping options, even 7 day. Wasn't able to open a DPA without putting the full amount on it, either.
Had to resort to contacting a rep to get the order to go through. I hope this doesn't cut Jason out of his commission, since the other rep now has their info on the order confirmation.
Just a warning for those of you ordering online with the quotes, you may want to check the shipping options and be sure you aren't getting charged when orders over $49 are supposed to be shipped free. -
How long ago did you make a quote with him?
I was wondering because I made one with him about a week ago and asked him to change my billing info but I guess he was too busy. I didn't think another rep could modify the quote... -
To me it looks like Jason removed his account here. I havn't seen any of his posts and a search brings up nothing but referances to him. I think he dipped out. Reps never stay to long here.
-
Jason was leaving Dell some time in September so maybe he decided to cut out early from there. But I know alot of people benefited from his deals including me so I am grateful.
-
He said he was quitting Dell and last Thursday was his last day to create quotes/orders.
-
Jason was quitting on September 5th. The last day he could give people the Deal he was giving them(and me) was the 20th. You could still hit him up maybe for a deal, cause another one might be up that we don't know about. Granted for his last 2 weeks they may switch his department just as a cautionary measure, so who knows.
EDIT: I would like to recommend that you e-mail his work e-mail(if you are going to e-mail him), which has been mentioned TWICE in this thread already(you just have to be clever) and avoid e-mailing him on his g-mail account. -
Perhaps he can hook us up with one of his sales buddies?
if your out there Jason.
-
That would be cool.
He has had the best deals I've seen. -
So here's my tale of unfortunate events:
After being accepted into a graduate program a couple weeks back, my school has required me to purchase a laptop. I have been lusting for the m14x for quite some time, and when they told me it was recommended, I finally had the incentive to pursue the dream. I wanted to get the m14x as loaded as possible, with Wireless HD and whatever else I could get, cheaper than my evil friend whose sugar daddy works for some company that gets approximately 25% off and rubs it in my face (approximated because I only know that she got what she thinks is a fully loaded m14x-r3 and I havent seen her specs yet because she doesn't even know how TO CHECK THEM, so its either fully loaded or pretty close.)
I have gotten minor deals by looking for good coupon combinations, and had seen some for the m14x a while back. From an initial search there was only a $50 coupon and consolation free shipping. I said "no way, the internets will have found something by now!". Unfortunately, after going through many false websites and checking over 20 expired coupons on my cart (which I swear was laughing at me at some point), I started losing hope. But I didn't give up.
I tried calling Dell to see what they could do for me, and they shot me down. The first time. And the second time. The third time I was sure the nice lady would give me the deal, only to find that her price was actually higher than my cart somehow. This was not boding well for me.
So after scouring the Interwebs for the past couple weeks now I came across this forum (somehow my search terms highlighted KnightTemplar in the cache I have no idea how). I found out a nice rep had been hooking it up for over 20% on fully loaded systems, thus I thought I struck the motherlode! Alas, I was thwarted yet again, since it seems he has disappeared and I missed it by a couple days. Now I only have about three to four weeks to order this laptop for school.
But I am not giving up.
I read 650's AMAZING guide, which I will try ASAP, and will attempt to contact a US rep using the suggest phone method, tell them I'm a student and have other options, and haggle like no tomorrow. If any of you guys have any suggestions on what to say, PM any reps I could talk to or information, or any help that could get me a stellar deal, I would truly, truly appreciate it, and do my best to reciprocate it should this experience yield anything noteworthy.
And I apologize for the long post but hope that others who share my sentiment don't give up! -
These deals all seem to involve the m17x or m18x. I wish I had the funds to get an m17x or m18x, but unfortunately, I can only barely afford a decently upgraded m11x or a rather basic m14x. Has anybody out there had any success a getting a discount with an m11x or m14x?
-
Deals come and go more often depending on what promotion and coupon code they can apply/use in their systems internally. If there is no coupon code, it is very hard to get a very large discount. From reading ALL 235 pages here, I can say that most of the discounts I've seen can be applied to pretty much any machine. I got a decent discount (30%) on the M14x in my sig when all is said and done.
