soo Bobbo, the one thing i can recommend especially for pricing purposes....look at Dell Outlet. they come with the same warranty options and they are significantly cheaper. you may luck out and even find the one with the specs you want on there.
-
Can someone please PM me Jason's Dell email? Any word on if he's still giving deals from that email?
-
Absolutely awesome thread by the way. Thanks for all of the posts from everyone.
-
It was on here a few pages back. From all indications he may or may not be there. Best bet is to send him the link of the one item you want (the one you email to yourself). If he is no longer available, then you have to hope you get lucky on calling in.
-
My rep i called wouldn't move the price. Anyway to make him change his mind?
-
try another rep. using the quote the other guy gave you. Try to imply that you have limited funds, thinking of a asus.. ect ect.. pretty much what the stickie suggested. Not every cast will get you a fish.
-
I got a US Rep today, and even though I returned a defective M14X, had to wait nearly 3 weeks for my refund, and went through all kinds of drama (they said the refund got "stuck" somewhere, and that was the reason it was delayed), he still wouldn't even offer me so much as free next day shipping on the much more expensive M18X I was ordering. I thanked him for his time and called up the Costa Rica Tech department.
The tech I got apologized for my troubles, and offered to rush the build, with free next day shipping; I mean, I didn't even have to ask for it. I already had a coupon for 17% off, so I didn't hound him over a discount, I just wanted them to recognize how long I had been waiting and offer some type of condolences. Needless to say, I am very pleased with the services they offered and am emailing this guys manager to give him some well deserved props.
So like everyone else has said, it's all in who you talk to, so call a few reps. You are spending a lot of money on your new system, at the very least you should have a rep you are happy to come back and do return business with when you're ready. -
Just curious, how did you get a hold of the Costa Rica Tech Support? Whenever I call Tech Support, they all sound Indian...
-
When I first had to call in to report the problems I was having with the m14x I just ended up getting patched through to them; after I spoke with them, their manager emailed me so we could keep in touch throughout the refund process, and get started on my new system as soon as possible. I'd have let him handle my order today but he was out of the office until next week, and unfortunately, I had M18X fever, and just couldn't wait
I tried the US Rep first, and when that didn't work out, I pulled the email the guys in Costa Rica had sent and used the number and extension for another rep that they recommended. Until this, I just assumed all reps were the same, but boy was I wrong.

dell/alienware representative ' nactownag' has asked me to make aware that there is currently a new 25%+ promotion underway that he will be able to honor until his last day 09/05/2011, which can be obtained by following the instructions found within the following post:
and contacting him via the information found within the following post:
hopefully this helps some of those here preparing to order a new dell/alienware system, and he also stated he has a co-worker who might possibly begin assisting us with future $aving$ after he is gone...
please, do not pm me regarding this, as you have the info neccessary...
-
How do you know theyre costa rican?
-
If emailing him caused an automated message saying he's out office to reply back does that mean he did not get the message?
-
the office hours listed on his automatic 'out of office' reply email are the hours he'll be in on monday 09/05/11, his last day...
emailing him specs (just as he detailed earlier) during his first office hours (CST) again on monday probably wouldn't hurt either...
-
Yeah my dad emailed him earlier today trying to get a quote. He's doing everyone such a big favor it almost seems messed up to bombard him with emails...
I guess ill wait until sunday and see if he replied to my dad. I'm trying to take advantage of AMEX warranty deal. -
I know Jason if off Saturday and Sunday, and since labor day is Monday......
I ordered my m14x off him earlier this august, and then had to re-order due to heat problems on the initial order...
Best Dell/alienware rep HANDS DOWN, got his contact info, and phone # off here and called him direct.....
I hope everyone else got a chance to call him before he's gone
-
Jason was great. But on the other hand dont completely undershoot these rep's secondary team that anwsers the phone for them when they are not available. I called yesterday to order a tactx keyboard and mouse ($159 retail value) and my rep didnt answer so I got one of the secondary's. I told him what I wanted and asked what he could do so he shot a message to a manager, and his manager shot me an offer for $85 shipped! For both the keyboard and mouse together for $85!!
-
There are still a couple decent systems Today on Dell outlet. With today 20% off coupon S3N5D?HNTT1JLD they are all great deals.
An M17xR3 with 2720&6970m&1080p was $1369 -20%= $1095+tax (so $1200ish). Amazing. -
Iunno, I got this other secondary rep when Jason wasn't there and he wasn't good at all. He didn't even know how to configure the systems apparently, because he kept picking the m14x with the vizio audio kit and my price in checkout was like 2400$ and he said that was "the best he could do".
And he seemed to have an attitude and such, Jason was def. awesome and a pleasure to deal with, luckily I got to him before he left. -
Honestly, thank you so much for following up on this, I am really grateful. I hope so badly he is able to accomodate the order before he leaves, I'm SO EXCITED TO (hopefully) GET MY FIRST DISCOUNTED LAPPY!!!
SO. EXCITED. :
UNCHES INTERN::
And thanks to everyone else for the advice!! Hope it works!! -
Let me know if you can't get in touch Bobkelso, b/c I have his # and ext. if you need that.
-

Are the UK price things in a different thread?
-
Yep, the UK thread is right here.
I can also vouch for ordering through Jason. He scored me an amazing deal on an M18x (same as in my sig, but with 8gb RAM and for only $2,500). If you are looking to buy, or at least want to secure an awesome rig for a good price when you're ready to purchase, shoot Jason an email now before it's too late to get a quote. -
Anybody know how long you have before a quote from Dell expires?
-
None of my quotes that I have gotten over the past few months have expired yet, even when I was told that they were time-limited.
-
I've heard something like two weeks before it errors out when you try to process the order (One rep told me this) but that doesn't make sense to me...
I have quotes that I am still able to pull up that are weeks old. Last time I asked if i can modify one (change the billing address) the rep said that the discount that I once had isn't showing up anymore (or the price im reading off to the rep isn't matching what she is pulling up). I've never tried to purchase a laptop from an old quote. I just got a new quote instead... -
I got a nice quote for an M18x with pretty much everything except xm cpu and ssd for something like 30% off... I just don't need it now. Lol.
6990's, 2720QM, 8GB Ram, Blu-ray reader, Killer Wireless N, etc, for 2.2k -
That's about the same price i just paid for my m17x r3. That's a really good deal. I'd hop on it as soon as you can if you're looking for an upgrade.
-
Wow, that is a pretty sick deal. I wonder what that would come out to on the website?? Jeez, if I hadn't got my loaded m14x and wasn't in college, I might have bought that also
-
I think it was around 2800 with no discount. Almost 28% off ^_^
-
Anyone know how to contact Jason's Co-worker who does good deals? I seem to be a day behind, since yesterday was Jason's last day...
On the bright side, the i7 processors just got a ~10% speed boost for the same price... (2720qm becomes 2760qm etc.) -
Sigh! Only if I had known of this thread before!
Ordered an Alienware M17x for $2.1k inclusive of taxes ($240 tax) online.

It was a pleasure to help you all. I've sent one person the name of a co-worker. I expect you will all get taken care of.
I still know lots of peeps at Dell so if you've got a question I can always try to help. -
i am a 100% buying a 4-5K$ comp with a ship date before oct 28th.
Can i get the info of your friends still there? -
I was the lucky recipient of the contact info for Jason's coworker. He explicitly told me not to post it directly, but to only pm it, and I cannot pm you, halfcraft. I think you have to have more posts to send/receive pms.
