I called 'em up and asked that. I'm former military current student... but I told him I was still military ;)

He said whichever EPP account has the higher % off. Both ones I'm eligible for are 10%. So I get 10% off, they don't stack.

Hey guys. I got a Dell epp coupon via email 3 weeks ago. I haven't got another one since. How often does Dell send these EPP coupons? I want a m11x and I'm tired of waiting! :O

    Hi guys...
Thanks for a very informative thread!!
    I havefew doubts..
So should i add my config "with" EPP(10%) and promo (50$off) or just the normal config in my online cart before I call the rep??
Also i am not so gr8 at talkin... how do i start conversation with rep... and at what stage should i ask for discount?? (is if okay to directly ask for "discount") or do it work only by making up eloborate stories like "its not with in my budget"
Also i just saw a deal on hp site.. can i mention it with em?? Or ll they get pissed off ("then why dont u buy it from them?" etc)

Well for one, thier job is to be courteous, but I would start after they review the specs and pull it up from your cart (remember to add two laptops I mentioned in the original post ;) ), and after you give them the EPP details, and they give you a price. Just say "I really need to get it for work, but my budget is $150 short of the price, if you can knock that off, I'll pay now." If they try and tone down your specs, let them know that you need it for work, and the specs are not really flexible. If it doesn't work out don't be afraid to say "well I'll try back when I can come up with the money" Then call back and try with a new rep.

Also I would say "Can you check run it by your manager?" I was looking at the HP with the same specs, but would rather go with Dell, since I have always had a great expereince with the Dell's and thier customer support."

I would also start with the standard website prices. Sometimes the EPP won't allow for certain configurations. I know for the M11X, the EPP site only has the 500GB and the SSDs. But if you want one with a 320GB, then just go through the standard site, and they will apply the EPP discount from that unit.

Remember it takes practice and you have absolutely nothing to lose. Just build that confidence

My only concern is ... If I have no EPP codes or know anybody who has EPP ... how do I go about? My build is coming around $4,000 ... and I would really like to score anywhere between 15% ~ 20% discount ... just don't know if "My budget will only allow me $xxxx" will work.

Lol they told me they would lose their jobs (supervisor and sales rep) if they took off another $100 (the same coupon from the february 4th discount). These guys crack me up.

All I want is 10% epp +3% DPA + my 50 for new account +100 off that I had for my m11x I canceled. But apparently they will lose their jobs if they give me all that :|

Epic failed, but I gave in. 10% epp, 3% dpa, 100 off, and free second day shipping.

    $2800 before/shipping/tax,
    $2500 after coupons,tax.

So 2350 for the laptop. 17+% off. I will accept it rather than try and haggle more. Thanks for the help on this thread!

so, i got like 16% off right now, im planning to seal the deal today if i can get a
    -4gig 1333ghz upgrade, or 500gb hd upgrade
-but i'd be really happy if i just get a free AW laptop and another brick charger.
also NBD would be awesome.. i think if i order today its gonna be here by april huh = (
is that asking for too much, if i push for all of those things?

how does one ask for free backpack? should i talk about my scoliosys Lol and see if i can get them to throw it in?

    Original Price: $ 2503.00
    Subtotal (after discount): $1,933.06
    Total (include tax): $ 2065.38

There is another trick on getting the discount even without EPP

Let's say yours is coming around $4000, and you are expecting a 20% discount, so that would be $3200 in the end.

What you need to do is, tell them directly you want your system at $3200. They will settle for you =D If can't, talk to another sales rep. Just tell them that this is your budget and you can't affort any further etc.

Try your luck and haggle around, you should get at least a 15% off

Hey any1 who bought the m11x help me. I called em and they infact gave me 10% off for my normal setup. and I gave them the 100$ coupon num... but in the process phone got disconnected. And later another guy called me back. He said tht the 100$ coupon (which is expired rite? ) is just 50$ coupon... then i said i have another 50$ coupon.. but he insisted that they could add just one coupon.
I said a friend of mine added 2 or more coupon for the m11x on phone. along with 10% off.
He paused for a while and then said its not possible. I argued for a while and then he said "can i have the person's order num... if he was able to do that.. then I need to look into it" I said i dont have it right now and i ll call him back and ask for it.

Now ... those people who stacked coupons.. can u pm me ur order number??
    help me..

^I just did the same thing (showed them my canceled m11x order with stacked coupons) and he said its not possible now, especially since the 100 one is expired. So he told me I could have either the 50 or the 100, and I said $100. Arguing prices is exponentially time draining. To get the first 100 off might only take 15 minutes, but to get the next 50 might take 30 minutes. I decided my time was more valuable than the extra $50 off lol.

    i am still at 10% + 50$ off man! :(
and its already 1 hr of waiting and stuff...
if some1 can send me thier quote or something like purchase order.. I can call him back. (he didnt even add that discount on my quote.. but said he can give 10% and 50$)
the lady was more like.. "oh! u have a coupon! cool.. give it.. i ll ask my manager and add it" it was sad tht the line got disconnected and some other guy took her place :(

please mail ur order detail to [email protected]

Just to let those know who placed an order with the coupons stacking 300$ off on the m11x, you have a chance of getting your order canceled if you give out the order # to others. Personally I wouldn't take the risk.

Once u ordered it and got ur laptop... how are they goin to take it back or cancel it?? You maybe(slightly) at risky position when u just have a quote and u didnt place an order yet..since u have no written commitment.

Only a few people have received there laptops so far. I was saying if the order was placed and the laptop is in production then there is a chance of cancellation. But yes if you already received your laptop then your fine.

Man, canada reps won't budge. Only if I got the standard 2 year warranty on top of my $1149 config, they would give me $60 off which is about... 4% or less off. :(

I haven't had time to get on the phone with a rep, but I did try the online chat. I had a M15x system saved in my cart for $1999 Can (pre-tax).
All they would offer me is my 7% EPP that I am actually entitled to (my company has an agreement with them). Nothing else...
I suck at haggling. I suspect I will not be able to get any deal from them :(

    Question Guys:

If I want to use Dell Financing and get the 12-month-no-interest deal ... should I apply for & get the financing approve "BEFORE" I call any reps; or should I go through the Financing thing WHILE on the phone with reps?

Excellent! So while we're doing the whole order thing, I'll mention to them that I was thinking about getting the Dell Financing for my order.

I'll be trying the 'Ask for discount straightforward' approach first; My order is at $4050 right and I'll shoot straight away for the $3200 which is about 20%.

    Thanks!!

Yea, just mention that you need it for work, and due to this, the specs are not flexible, and if they can offer it for $3200-$3300 then you will pay right now, but as of now, thats your budget. Also mention that you were looking at a Sager, but always had a good experience with Dell, so Dell is your first choice. Then I think they will offer the account for you to save money.

Was just on the phone with them. So had the M15x in my cart for 1999, less 7% EPP. So he goes through my system specs, blah blah blah, 'made great choices' blah blah, then says 'so yes, we can give you 5% off. I said "uh, the EPP discount in my cart is 7%, not 5!".
So he 'goes to check' and comes back and says yes, they'll honor the 7%. So I'm very polite and say yes, but it's still a bit over my budget which is why I'm calling, and that if I can't do better, I'd have to settle for an Asus, etc. He then spoke about 3 months no interest, and I thanked him but said I'd still have to pass. Then he asked for my phone number at work so he can go check if anything 'can be done', and call me back...

It's just a big game....lol. I'm guessing he'll call back with a super offer of another 50 off or something...
Oh, for the record, he was very nice, and thus I was to him as well.

    Oh, the phone is ringing...

haha, now on with his supervisor....it all sounds so official, like I'm talking to the White House...lol

Where are you guys finding these coupons that work for Alienware?? The only ones I ever get are only good for the base model Inspirons...

His supervisor called back. Man, long phone call! We talked about justification for pricing, why was I setting my budget so low, how alienware has different pricing structure and they never give anyone more than 5%.
In my special case they offered me a total of 9% off (my 7% EPP plus a special 2% that he got special approval from finance for.... :)).
I told him I'd place the order if they went to 1759, which would be 12% off. 12% is technically what my EPP gets you -if- you also buy a 3 year warranty. I wasn't buying the warranty, but settled on that as what I would spend.
I love how you are put on hold so that they can listen to see if you say anything (like, gee if they knock 10 bucks more off I'll take it!)... :)

So we were $60 apart in price.
I said thanks anyway, and that's how it ended. The 9% discount did seem OK, but for only 2% savings over what I'd get with EPP anyway, I'd rather wait to see if there is a refresh of any sort in the next month.

BTW - for the record, I'm not trying to make fun of these guys. This is their job..., 'Steve' has make a living too....haha...
I just find the whole procedure kind of funny.

Now i cudnt get back to my old dell rep whome i initially spoke with.. always goes to a voice messg option :(
so I called another rep... and all he can get for me 10% off + 50$ coupon... thts it :(
    so that wud be 950$ aprox including tax for 4Gb n 250GB HD, Intel® Core™2 Duo SU7300 1.3GHz (3MB Cache) ..
I no guys here cud get the same for 830$ incl tax :|
He gave me his num and email.. and said he cannot give me the quote as he applied 10% off normal config instead of EPP 1... its somethin aginst thier rules..
anyway, what do u suggest?? his kindoff stern with his price and feels that 830$ is a loss for dell.. "10% n 50$ mate is all i can get,$869 w/o tax is final ..from my side"
I gave my "cannot afford" crap .. but still he cudnt get down... maybe he's already tired of listnin to same old humpy dumpty story.
Now i miss my old rep... damn u at&t... she said she can apply 100+50 if i can get any proof :( :(
    so.. any suggestions?

usually the chat reps are not as generous as those that answer the phone.
i think that nobody got a good deal out of them, so it's not the way to go.
