With the discount I got, I was like go ahead throw it in.
-
I decided to upgrade my processor from 2.4 to 2.5GHz.
-
thats a crazy amazing deal!!!!!!!
-
I feel lucky, indeed. Between employee discount, credit account sign-up, %25 off summer discount promotion, I saved alot (understatement). The summer promotion thing is what really did it though.
The Rep's name is melissa and she really worked with me. I asked if I could give her info out and she said sure. So anyone interested let know and i'll PM you her info. -
did you get a better cpu? your order says 2760 but your sig says 2860 : p
-
yes i called back today and upgraded
-
Hope u didn't buy yet. Seems like they could do better. Do you work for a large corp that may have a discount?, did u apply for their credit program? Also ask about %25 off summer discount, cause they don't volunteer it seems like they try it if u ask them bout it. Also I could PM my rep if you want, maybe better offer. Doesn't hurt to try her.
-
Folks, let's continue this great discussion on the appropriate thread.
I am merging this thread with the Alienware Ordering Advice thread. -
Hmm, this got moved to the M18x subforum...
-
Seems a mistake, shouldn't this be visible to all alienware buyers?
-
It is, I reported it to the Mods to.
-
Any news on coupons ?
-
Taken care of - thanks for the post report DR.
-
Oh man.. Didnt know anything about the 25% off summer discount. Is it still going on? I have already ordered, but I can probably cancel since the item is still in production. Could you pm with some information about the summer discount and your sales rep? That would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
-
Same. I just ordered a few days ago myself, but I might just keep it. I ended up getting about 600 off by simply haggling and being a veteran. Probably good enough to keep the order I have.
-
The only reason I know about a "25% off summer program" is because last year around June, July, august guys were posting in this thread about it. So I figured I'd ask about it this time when ordering. It wasn't displayed on their website this time but I thought it worth a try during haggling.
I upgraded the processor since I last posted, so from around $3950 down to $3200. They gave me some kind of promotional discount, because my Verizon discount is only around $263.
From the email I got it doesn't look like u can make changes to order once it's in production. Email said u have two hours to make sure order is correct else it's assumed correct and goes into production. Let me know if still want reps info. -
I would think any summer deal is over by now. Its the middle of October. Fall deals have already started.
I could be wrong though. -
Hello fellow awesome computer know-how people! (New to the forums) I just wanted to ask advice on what I should do. There is currently a 15% coupon deal off any dell over £499/$699(??) thats due to end this coming wednesday 19/10/89.
Now I just wanted to ask anyone thats been following dell for a long time, whats the possibility there might be a better deal to be had say around christmas time? I'm looking to buy a stock M14 with just a 1600x900 upgrade and accidental coverage.
Lastly I have never ordered a Laptop before so can anyone explain to me what this UK rep quote thingy people are talking about, is about?
Thanks in advance for any help. -
-15%
o whats that coupon?
-
It's on the website deals. I would link it to you but the website is failing me at the moment.
-
I think the 15% off is for the UK market.
-

p.s the dell rep i spook to said he can not change the specs and this offer is final and if i choice not to go with it he cannot offer me anything in this price range with the specs i have. -
Looks like its 10% off of the list price.
-
If I were you I'd switch the GPU to the 2x6990M. The performance is very similar for a much lower cost.
-
Veritass I agree with edit1754, go with dual 6990's with the money saved u could get a processor or ssd upgrade. Plus isnt there some kind of throttling issue with 580's that hinder them. I went with 6990's myself.
My x18m is suppose to be here today, fedex says it's in Brooklyn now. I'm so anxious I have an app that checks fedex every hour and alerts me to "out for delivery" and "delivered" status with a special tone. I that over board, lol? -
actually the throttling issue is being fixed as we speak and there should be a resulotion for it avaliable soon, also i prefer the driver support from nvidia and also having the capability to play in 3D is nice to have, also the different technology that it comes with like PhysX and CUDA are a bonus also, lately i see over the forums more people having problems with the 6990ms and the 580ms are starting to take a slight lead, and i believe the true power of the 580s is still to be unlocked as soon as this throttling gets fixed we should see much higher benchmarks.
also as for the SSD i currently got the lowest 500GB HDD so i can replace it with Crucial M4 as soon as i receive the system and save a bit of money rather than getting it from dell that only provides with samsung 470 series which only runs at 3gb/s. also for the processor, i mainly plan on using this computer purely for gaming and maybe a little bit of school work. so i see that 2760 is more than enough for almost all games... -
What is the biggest discount normally available in the US if you get a good rep?
I'm wondering whether it's worth haggling/negotiating or if I'd just be better using the 25% discount code and saving myself the trouble? -
The site that I got my M18x (see signature) offered a good discount but I believe they dont ship outside the US. Unless you have a shipping service in the US, perhaps that will work.
-
I think 30% is the highest I've seen.
-
Go with the 25% and push for things like free extra warranty and shipping. The warranty is something they usually bend on first because it's not an actual physical product. I added up my total savings and ended up at around 30% when you include the extra year of advanced care warranty I got thrown in.
-
I saved 38% after some calculations (paid $2991)
$-290 for keeping the m18x after asking to return it
$- $xxx (not sure what number) EPP
5th year complete care warranty - free (worth $779)
have 2760/6990/16gb 1600/tb raid 0 sshd/ultimate n 6300 wifi -
hey, guys
I've been looking for m11xr3 coupons for couple days. Unfortunately nothing legit I've found.
Is there anything like 100 bucks or 10% off out there? -
If anyone has a good rep, I'd appreciate a PM with contact info. Thanks in advance!
-
There's a dell mystery coupon on the EPP site that allows 15, 25 or 35% off currently and Alienware is listed as applicable. Check your email. I got a 15% off one which is not too useful.
I tried it and didn't work for some reason, not sure why. Some folks have gotten it to work with monitors as well when they build a system so maybe this would be a good way to save on an additional IPS monitor. -

Mine says this (only 15% coupon though):

Only applicable on Inspiron, XPS and Alienware line of systems. Dell cannot be responsible for pricing or other errors, and reserves the right to cancel orders arising from such errors. -
Wow.
Well if it works, awesome! I have a friend at work that lucked out with the 35% and dell told him heck no lol. -
I got a 25% coupon, which is less use than the 25% I already have, as it runs out 4 days earlier!
-
Curiosity got the better of me, so I called into Dell to ask if the coupons work or not. Per my EPP rep I was told no, they do not apply to AW or XPS systems. So I requested to speak to customer care for a 2nd opinion and was told the same thing.
-
That's too bad. Probably just have to wait for another 25%+ later which is Alienware ok...I'm waiting for next gen CPU and gfx anyways so no laptop for me till probably mid 2012.
-
Sorry to repost, but I'm flying to the USA on Friday night and am hoping to order on Saturday.
If anyone has contact details for a good rep (or even any US-based Rep), I'd be very grateful if you would PM me with them.
Thanks

Hey guys, i'm about to be getting some money to order my system finally from school, and i'm curious as to if anyone has a rep i can contact for a better discount than this 2% they offer students, i'm hoping 20% is possible, but we'll see i suppose. Thanks a ton
-
i am looking at getting an m17x. should i go w/ 15% off? or does anyone have a rep they could hook me up with? feel free to pm me, any advice is appreciated
-
hello guys, i really need an advice, i'm about to purchase an M17x but i can't decide where, you see, my configuration would just be the base but i'll change the screen with the FHD and the gpu buy 6990, at HIDevolution the total is 1914, do they have sales tax? if they do, then i think i won't be able to buy it. i have a tight budget of 2k. While at Dell, using the first bundle it would cost 1499+300+150+39(THEY ARE FORCING YOU TO ADD AN ANTIVIRUS)=1988 but you get a 5% discount, so that will mark it down to 1888.60 and using the BHW... coupon (that's less 50) the final price should be 1853.60 the problem is, when i chat one of the reps, she said that the final price is 1969.15! That's because they have sales tax at NJ. So now i'm torn, i don't know where to buy i need atleast keep $70 for the bag i want it to buy with. can someone help!
PS. If HIDevolution have sales tax also, then the cheaper store would be clear, I am waiting for the reply in their CS.
*
I also found a preconfigured M17x at HIDevo the same with my prefereed specs it costs 1875 now that would be the best price i've seen. although the nameplate wouldn;t be customized lol. but not an issue for me -
You can have the Anti-Virus removed if you call them.
I just did this and managed to negotiate the following deal;
Alienware M17x Soft Touch Nebula Red
Intel Core i7 2760QM 2.4GHz (3.5GHz w/Turbo Boost, 6MB Cache)
4GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1600MHz (2DIMMS)
17.3-inch WideFHD1920 x 1080 60Hz WLED
2GB GDDR5 AMD Radeon HD 6990M
750GB 7,200RPM HDD
Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit Service Pack 1, English, w/Media
Slot-Loading Dual Layer Blu-ray Reader (BR-ROM, DVD+-RW, CD-RW)
Killer Wireless-N 1103 a/g/n 3x3 MIMO for Gaming and Video
4 Year NBD On-Site Advanced Warranty with Accidental Damage
NBD Shipping
$2183.65 including Tax
Thanks to everyone who offered advice on here and special thanks to PistolPV for letting me have contact details for a Dell Rep. I think I got a great deal, saving $1017.79 for a 31.8% saving!
Added to this, I'm from the UK and this system would have cost me around £2600 there and, after the conversion, it's costing me £1382.06 so all in all I'm over the moon with my deal.
I've also ordered the following, which I'll install myself;
Samsung 830 256GB SSD - $406.99
16GB (4x4GB) Kingston HyperX PnP 1600MHz DDR3 RAM - $151.48 -
Hey chez how do u manage to get the notebook to UK? Or u alrdy moved to US? TY!
-
My Girlfriend is American. I'm in the USA for the next 3 months.
-
I'm looking to buy an alienware m17 or m18 for my birthday can someone hook me up with a good rep? Pm please
-
You need to have at least 5 post here to receive PM's I believe.
