I literally searched all the coupon sites and managed to find this coupon code: 9RQSX09H09PLCQ
on the dell coupon page, unfortunately it is no longer on there now. However here is my story I called and Spoke with Rob, who was a US rep that when I mention this code his intial response was he would check with his marketing dept. He placed me on hold then he came back to the phone and said it was not available and the best he could do was $100 off. Right! The funny thing is I kept telling him before, that I tried to use it online but I thought it was not working because it had an ORDER CODE assoicated with it that was required. He reassured me that it didn't matter because he could use it any way. So I told him thanks and called back after. The next rep was a lady, I mentioned what I needed, used my college student discount then towards the end I told her about the coupon code, again I was placed on hold. I did withheld that I had called before and I used a different phone just incase the other dude had doc'd the call. Reason being I gave him access to my cart so he could see what I was getting. In the end she managed to get me that offer and mentioned that I could use it only if my purchased reached $3020. So I upgraded naturally. I tried going for the Bag but all I could get was a Giftcard: $115 which seem like a trade-off from the $200 promo-giftcard being offered to students at the time. Well guys with the use of the info in here I was able to get this baby. Many thanks to you all. Alienware M18X R2- Orignal Price $3354.95

Love the 5% gift card! I just used mine on a gaming headset, a couple usb flash drives and a display port to dvi adapter. Nothing extravagant, but I wanted or needed all, and they weren't exactly topping my priority list of things I was ready to spend money on.
-
Was this a good deal? I got a Bluray player, 7970m, 1080p 1 year accidental, killer wifi card, plus the 200 gift card plus 5% back totaling a $288 gift card (going to buy the Dell UltraSharp U2412M

Take a long walk off a short bridge. Why would I lie? NVM, Don't answer, i really could care less. Just thought I'd give ppl somthing to shoot for. You are right though, strictly speaking. I was just negotiating during the deadline so i got to double dip so to speak
-
I've been lurking around here for a couple weeks and I've spent way too much time reading this thread. =) Love what you all are doing here!
I just spent the last hour talking to a couple of Dell reps and they got me to place an order. I don't feel like I really got a good deal, not nearly as good as the ones I've read about. Over the last two days I talked to four reps and each one was completely adamant that the best they could give me was $100 off. I dunno if they really started bearing down on discounts now or I am just not very persuasive.
Anyway, here was the offer I got:
3rd Generation Intel Core i7-3740QM (6MB Cache, up to 3.7GHz w/ Turbo Boost 2.0)
8GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1600MHz
17.3-inch WideFHD1920 x 1080 60Hz WLED
2GB GDDR5 AMD Radeon HD 7970M
64GB mSATA caching SSD

Slot-Loading Dual Layer Blu-ray Reader (BR-ROM, DVD+-RW, CD-RW)
Killer Wireless-N 1103 a/g/n 3x3 MIMO for Gaming and Video and Bluetooth 4.0
Accidental Damage Service, 1 Year
Total: $2,365.93
I also get 5% back in a gift card. I mean, this isn't the worst deal ever, but after all the research and several hours total on the phone with Dell I would have hoped for a better deal. Anyone have some advice on where I can go from here? -
There are 10% off all Alienware/Dell products readily available online - also go through a cashback site like Quidco.com etc - I got a 16% saving alone by these two methods. I never got a better price on the phone than I could online. All in all around $500 saving. Also don't buy things like memory/SSD drives from Dell they charge 2 X standard price - do these afterwards.
Example voucher site
Dell Voucher Codes and Discount Codes for 2012
Also there are free delivery vouchers saving another $40 etc on top. -
I decided to cancel my order and try again later. I guess I need to dig a bit deeper looking for coupons and the like. Seems like there's a drought right now as far as savings goes for Alienware systems, even through MPP.
I had trouble applying a coupon I found on that site, but I'm wondering if an agent could get that to work for me because that would go a long way toward me making a purchase. -

-
Damn it...only if it was in Red.
-
Not bad at all. Care to share the rep info? Thanks!
-
Can someone please PM me a good rep's info. I've called three times and they won't budge off the online price. Looking for a base configuration m14x or, if a good deal, an xps 13 (getting $980).
thanks! -
Sorry for the long post......
So i got off the phone with Alienware trying to make an order over the phone as well as trying to place the order through the chat service earlier today and Alienware would not budge at all on the price, even though i am ordering not 1, not 2, but 3 laptops an M18x, M17x, and a M14x thats coming to a little over $7000. :-( Looks like i might be looking elsewhere, i like there products and everything but i have found with other companies ie Sager where i am able to config a P370EM, P170EM and a P150EM and be about a $1000 less then Alienware yet here i am still trying to order through them and they don't want budge at all on cost. :-(

I would call them again and try a different sales person. I've never heard of them not dropping the prices at all.
-
When I ordered I had to call about 6 times before I got someone willing to give me a better deal than $50 off the website price. What worked for me was to tell them exactly what I wanted and asked them what was the best price they could give me until I got a price I could live with. It might be coincidence, but I had much better luck with a female rep too.

I just ordered a m17x with:
i7-3740QM
7970 2GB
12GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1600MHz
64GB mSATA caching SSD
750GB 7,200RPM SATA-II HDD
for $2165.80 after TAX with no ecoupons or anything. Is this a good price, or should I haggle for a $200 ecoupon? The laptop has a 5 week EDD, all in all I'd be happy with the ecoupon, has anyone been successful getting a coupon/discount after order has been placed? -
Hello Arnpoly,
How much of a discount did you get? Percentage wise that is...
I am looking to purchase a M18X soon but I was going to wait for Cyber Monday or Black Friday. I called a sales person and spec'd a system but he didn't want to deal at all. Maybe I just didn't try hard enough.
Thank you,
Roger -
It does seem lately the reps are not giving out anymore of a discount than what you see on the website. I got a $65 discount because of an EPP membership and also the usual 5% gift card but that was about it. Even then, I had pretty much the same as you except with 16GB ram and a 500 GB HDD but mine was about $2108 or so after tax.

I actually just priced the exact same system for $330 less than what I posted before
new promo price)
Only two differences are, the 3730 instead of 3740 and a 1TB 5400 rpm HDD rather than 64GB SSD+720GB. Cheaper system also comes with Windows 8 instead of 7. Would it be worth it to cancel and re-order?
I financed the system with dell financial services and have two questions if anyone knows.
1) I would prefer to keep my original order and EDD, would sales entertain the idea of just discounting me the difference instead of canceling and re-ordering.
and
2) If I did cancel, would it be a big hassle to re-finace and go thru the entire thing again -
I ended up with roughly a 13% discount...and I know I could have done better. I'm not great at haggling so for me persistence was key.

I just purchased the following from Del Canada:
225-2945 Alienware M17X R4 - Direct 1 $1,824.99
317-9892 12GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1600MHz 1
318-0424 Creative Sound Blaster Recon3Di 1
318-2005 DL DVD Burner (DVD+-RW, CD-RW) 1
319-1473 3rdGen Intel Core i7-3740QM 1
320-3275 17.3-in WideFHD1920x1080 60Hz WLED 1
320-9499 2GB GDDR5 AMD Radeon HD 7970M 1
342-4432 1TB RAID 0 (2x 500GB) 7200RPM 1
421-8687 WIN 8 HOME,64,ENG,CSMR,DAO 1
430-4706 Internal Wireless Bluetooth 4.0 1
430-4712 Killer Wireless-N 1103 MIMO, ANW M17X 1
I would have liked the BlueRay, but there was no option in the build configuration.
I received this deal by going to:
Alienware M17x Full HD 3D gaming laptop details | Dell Canada
and selecting the Windows 8 option under the M17x
at checkout, I used the $150 off $1799+ coupon code:
3C7PPSZJQR34MR
For a total 'discount' of $565.00
The deal required getting Win 8. I have not decided if I will unload that and move a Win 7 Ultimate license over or not... More research needed.
-----------------------------
Does anyone know how they configure the 12GB memory? Is it 4 x 3GB, or 2 x 4GB + 2 x 2GB?
[edit: my 'Dell Sales Professional' stated it would be 2 x 4GB + 2 x 2GB]
I want to install an mSATA caching board (32 to 256 GB). Any good data on what size is best and where diminishing returns hit?
[Addendum: Had a bit of a hellish afternoon dealing with ESL Order Verification Support in India, ended up canceling and the reinstating my order with poor communication. That said, I must commend my 'Dell Sales Professional' (aka Patrick) - also from India - as he did quite a good job in liaising with them.] -

Spere, I`m also in canada. My setup is nearly identical to yours(you have killer wireless where I didnt). Ordered back in Oct which was $350 more than what you paid. I just re-added the config to my cart and will be calling tomorrow and seeing if I can keep my current order minus $350 or I`ll be cancelling and re-ordering. I hope its not a big deal as it is nearly complete in production.
Awesome setup btw thanks for sharing the coupon
The basic $425 off has since been removed from the website along with the 7970 upgrade!!!, yesterday it said it was good until Nov. 10th!!! The m17x in question was 1699.99 which is now 1899.99,,,,,,, I re-built my cart similar to Spere`s, SAVED IT, and now when I go to bring it up today to call DELL the saved cart is GONE.... unbelievable, I have nothing to go on if I call Dell Support
Yesterday this link: Alienware M17x Full HD 3D gaming laptop details | Dell Canada
had the mid configuration listed as $1699.99, with free upgrade to windows 8 and ATI 7970. Today it is $1899.99 MINUS the 7970 Upgrade.
The offer was good until Nov. 10th however now it is gone and it is only Nov. 9th. I had the config SAVED in my cart yesterday which has magically expired and disappeared.
Like I said before, it turned out to be $350 off my previously spec`d system with IDENTICAL PARTS.
Not sure what to do now, if Dell can`t make this right I will be canceling my order and going with ASUS or some other company. I am already waiting 5 weeks EDD for my previously ordered m17x.
Any advice on how to proceed -
You have any screenshots or anything? maybe try going through the dell.com special offers bit rather than the alienware bit of their website. That's a bit harsh tbh. I had mine converted into a quote from dell so I always could get my price for my spec.
-

No I didnt take any screenshots, When I Saved my Cart it said the price and computer would be VALID for 30 days. I should have taken a screenshot or emailed the cart.
I just got off the phone with Dell Sales, explained my issue. Asked where the Instant Savings of $425 that was VALID yesterday went that was valid until Nov 10th.... and if they can somehow match the price they had yesterday I will purchase right now. I even sent him the exact links I used.
He puts me on hold, comes back with the $1899.99 (non 7970) ( nvidia 660) offer and says ``best I can do is $50 off``...
This is unbelievable. Dell has got to be one of the worst ran and unorganized companies. I feel this will be a long hard fought battle that I will never win and now am really tempted to take my business elsewhere.
If I`m being confusing let me show the specs: Today for $1899.99 BEFORE TAX you can get:
i7-36300QM
Nvdivia 660
12GB RAM
1TB 5400 RPM HDD
Intel Wireless
YESTERDAY: for $1699.99
i7-3630QM
7970 2GB
12GB RAM
1TB 5400 RPM
Thats $200 increase, plus $200 to upgrade to a 7970. Who in their right mind would pay over $2200 after tax for a 660m basic machine
Just got off the phone after spending most of the day talking to reps. Got a $200 credit and extra 5% issued which brings my original order to exactly $2000 after tax. I couldnt prove anything price wise but they took my word for it once I showed them Speres config and price paid. It really wasnt that hard and they were really good about it.
Specs are:
i7-3740QM(cheaper build had 3630)
ATI 7970
12GB RAM
750GB 7200rpm+64GB SSD(cheaper build had only 1tb 5400rpm)
BluRay Optical Drive (other build no BluRay)
All in all Im really satisfied with the price. Almost $650 worth of credits given all the upgrades were pricey.
Dell is like any other large company, they have some people that genuinely care about their customers.
Now just have to wait for EDD!
Anyone know why they jacked the price up, there are no current offers for m17x at the moment. -
Cyber monday/black friday deals are coming soon.
Anyone got any leads on whats coming out? -
I'm not a DELL rep nor someone particularly well versed in the laptop market but I've seen the leaked DELL ad (it's all over the interwebs) and there is no mention of Alienware gear/computers in the ad whatsoever. I would think this is a very unusual thing for DELL to not sponsor (arguably) their most prolific line of computers on Black Friday/Cyber Monday so I'm assuming that we're not gonna see any of the deals until day of/close to the respective date.
Also, with DELL supposedly wanting to ween themselves out of the PC market I would assume they'd also be keen on dumping off some stock as well. Again, this is just speculation on my part. All I know for sure is that Alienware stuff didn't make it into the DELL Black Friday ad.
On a side note I'm gonna be trying to shoot for an M17X soon so I'm hoping that there are some deals. Currently the build I'm looking at is the $1699 baseline with a 7970m, hopefully I'll at least be able to tack on an SSD without the price changing this black friday/cyber monday. -
Yeah, I got the dell black friday mailer catalog already, no deals in there for alienware... maybe they arent doing anything this year
I guess I dont really need any more computers.... no, thats a lie, I do
-
You only have five...my god what is wrong with you?
-
alot......
Besides, each one has its own job.
m11x #1 - wifes computer
m11x #2 - bring to work computer
m14x - vacation computer
x51 - lan desktop
hangar18 - dvr/server
I have tons of other laptops/desktops too, I have a whole room in my basement that is full of computers/parts -
I wrote this in the other thread, but I don't think I've ever seen Alienware do a bf type sale. Best sales are the military one, work affiliate one and finding a rep that is willing to give a very high discount for whatever reason...
-
Looking to buy an alienware m18x bag, heard some reps give discounts on them, can someone advise?
-
So i just talked to a dell rep and they said, there is not gonna be alienware laptop deals, too bad
-
Definitely deals on the laptops.... Not much, but I think I'll bite. Gonna call a rep now.
Edit: Wow, Dell being hard to haggle with today! I'm military and I couldn't get more than a 10% discount! I think I'll wait other deals....
Edit 2: I called in today on Cyber Monday and called through the EPP line provided on this discussion thread. I pulled the trigger and got myself about a 20% discount total which includes a $200 gift card. Original price: $4,752. Thanks NBR for the heads up on ordering advice! -
I know it's late, but i managed to survive dell 2 weeks jumping through hoops to talk to diff customer support ppl (Would you believe when i ordered on 5th Nov, i had an EDD of 3rd Dec, and then they re-issued the order cos of a mistake they made and expidited it but now my EDD's 19th dec).
Overall though i managed to get my system with a 11% discount. Price on website config is $2700 (without the blue ray drive, cos atm im looking and it seems like dell.ca for the 2nd opt. of m17x they've removed it) while i managed to get a discount down to $2400. (though, still $2700+ after tax) -
How much could I potentially get an M17x with:
8GB RAM
750GB HDD
7970M
i7-3740
for?
(im not military) -
Anyone have a good rep I could work with? Ordering an M18x
-
hi
stevejones might be able to help if your based in the UK
-H -
I found this on the Alienware customer reviews.
An M14x with an i7 upgrade for approx $900 out the door. I haven't been able to get a price match yet.
I have tried haggling online, through the chat, and it gets me nowhere. The rep's always ask for a "quote number". So if you get a quote for a great deal, pass on the quote number so that we can use it. -
That is not how that works. The quote number is for a single sale, and they don't really seem to do online haggling through the chat.
They're also not going to pricematch a quote from a forum, or I'd be posting on there with a review of a m18x fully specced for $1k and trying to get them to let me pricematch it
Your best bet is to contact one of the Dell reps in this thread if you can't handle calling Sales. I personally can't, because I have an issue with phones, so I'm waiting on a PM reply. -
Looking to purchase an m17x soon. Any US Reps available?
-
Good point! I didn't realize that there are Dell sales reps here.
I am looking at the M14x with a GPU upgrade to purchase soon, if any US reps can hook me up. -
I am having a nightmare with ordering (tried to order an outlet M14XR2)... I am hoping a US Rep can help me out since I now have to wait anyways...
I am really starting to get upset with the way Dell is going these days -
I'm looking at the M17x R4 and have talked to three different sales reps. One didn't seem to know the system very well and none were giving me much of a deal. I think the best offer I got was like $200 off a $3500 system.
