Alienware M15x Uk Orders

still in phase 5... CS guaranteed me all parts were there and it was being built. oh and they also said they were having some problems with knowing which parts were in stock and when they'd get shipments etc. so maybe the 28-day ESD for the WXGA+ screen is just a screwup.

Ive got a new problem. Apparently my papers were sent to the bank from my company just today. So i dont really know when the payment will be processed fully, and hence, it seems like im probably on the course for a june 23rd delivery

i'm new to this threading business, and llike you i have newly purchased an M15X. I thought that the delayed delievery hype was only for US customers, but it seems as though UK customers are getting it too.
Do alienware EVER deliver ontime?????
Does anyone have anything good to say about them? i've been searching the internet trying to search for something good about them (seeking soloce i suppose) but all i've head is horror stories

Well, what can be said???

For my part, enough is to say that even if I followed almost "fanatically" the M15x story from the beggining and I've seen how many bad things there are, I still ordered it. We will be ok... If not, we'll just send it back.

The M15x is still (in paper) the best notebook ever built by men. Let's be patient and enjoy the moment when it comes. For now, we will have to wait a bit.

Bottom line, don't let yourself get down with all the negative things you read. Give it a chance and analyze it yourself. Trust me when I say... If you want to find problems, you will. And reading about problems is one step closer to you being a problem seeker maniac obcessive. I've been there... I know!

By the way... congrats on the purchase. I'm sure you will have a good time with it... whenever it arrives.

But that in a way is the main horror story. Alot of people are stating that they are returning their laptops due to faults (backlights, harddrives, scratches etc.....i've even read threads that some people have had COMPLETELY EMPTY HARD DRIVES! No operating system or anything!)
My only strife is that every single one of us have paid an extraordinarily large sum of money for our systems, and all we want in return is to be kept regularly posted in regards to how our investment is proceeding.
We also want to be reassured that if we have problems, at least someone out there (in CS land) should be able to help out, rather than randomly pulling out a line from the excuse hat!
Day 1 - we are waiting for the hard drive bay to be delivered
Day 2 - we are waiting for the keyboard to be in stock
Day 3 - the chassis is on forward order
...
...
...
Day 35 - we can't find chuck our engineer, he's in the shower at the moment call back later.

I just thought it was rather rib tickeling when they say:

If they really DO hold true to their motto, then perhaps they might try a little harder to keep us in the loop!

Lets hope that dell will put there expertise in to AlienWare. The Dell laptops that i have ordered for company use, has all ways been recieved within 5 days

 

Just hit phase 8... UHUHhhhhhhhhuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!!! I am happy now. Obviously they are going through their 200 points inspections, so that should take them a bit over 1 minute and 23 seconds. So it should be sent soon.

Hope I will receive a perfect laptop! Please please please... fingers crossed.

I mean... now that I think of it... it's quite fast for the laptop to be sent to me. I just hope they are not sending me a returned laptop. That would make me really mad.
Why was my laptop put together so fast? Weird...

 

Unless you bought a refurbished model (sounds like you didn't) then it would probably be illegal for AW to send you a returned laptop (false advertising)

 

I guess I won't have to worry about that... as I was just moved back not into phase 7, nor 6... not even 5... I was moved back to phase 3!!! Ahahaha... Oh well, we have to laugh of it.

Another update...
I was put into phase 9 just now. I'm getting a bit dizzy with all this rollercoaster of phases by now.
Nevertheless, as I expected they took a lot to check all their 200 points. Oh well... Can only hope for the best!

 

Bottom line here...
The order status page of Alienware shouldn't really be taken into much account. My best advise is not to even look at it and just wait to receive the laptop (and phone if you feel it's taking too longe time).

 

Anyone know what happens now that I'm in phase 9? How long till I receive a tracking number? How long does it take for the laptop to arrive once its shipped?

guess what...........the alien has left the building.
just been picked up by dhl and on its way back for repair (and sadly not refund).

when i went into phase 9 it took 4 days to arrive but that was due to it being on a friday so had to wait the whole weekend.
so if you are lucky you could have it by friday (dont hold your breath though).

as you are just down the road from me then normally the delivery is early morning.

Maybe they took yours and are going to drop it by my house tomorrow. Who knows? It would be nice to have it by Friday... I'm not holding my breath though. I am not really dieing in expectation. I can be very patient...

Just received DHL tracking number. That was fast... 8 days from order to shippment. For AW's sake, I do hope my laptop comes free of any possible problems. If not, I can tell you... I'm going to bash AW as much as I possible can... and then some more. And since I bought an M15x I can even say I have that right.
I honestly hope I will be the happiest M15x owner on earth. But given they tested it for 5 minutes... I just don't know.
We'll see...

Like good cooking. The longer it takes, the better. There are things in life you can't rush.

I'll give a review ASAP. I'll focus primarly in synthetic tests, stressing everything and plus something more. If there's a problem... it will come out. If there isn't one... I will be VERY HAPPY.

Must say that was quick, especially when i have ordered ages ago and still hanging on phase 7. Felin a bit jealous and envy and the same time a bit angry that yours is expited that fast but heck that the world in a nutshell

Just hope that they will finish testing my m15x and ship the sucker. Currently downloading Age of Conan, that i am hoping to play soon on the m15x, from the 20th, but i think thats a bit optimistic

(by angry i mean angry on alienware for the way they are doing business and misleading the customers)

I think there must be a reason why you didn't receive it yet. Maybe you ordered a component that they didn't have at the momment.

yeah deffently some parts, is just the misleading. First some hardrive then the dvd drive then the webcam or case, and then they told me that it first would be built the 26th, then some says its an error, then haging in a system test for 2 days? so back and forth in stories about building a laptop.....

i had to delete all my software and games off it last night and of course it wipes all of the saved sections in the orange box, dalm.
not even worth me attempting to load it on my fujitsu 8.4gb is a bit of a biggie for it and especially using on board graphics i will have no chance.

 

Milcs you seem to have flown through phases, I'm still stuck @ 5 (being in Ireland hardly makes a diff?)

 

Weird... The only difference I see is that you ordered the Turbo Cache. Appart from that it's just like mine. Maybe that's delaying it...
Also, I used a credit card to pay and the money was taken straight away... That could have also mande a difference.

I felt suspicious too when my laptop only spent a total of a day and a half at the AW repair facilities (after I was told my order was being prioritized to be fixed in "5-7 days" which was already faster than the standard two weeks). In the end though, it was entirely misplaced fear and everything turned out fine (I'm thinkin AW Canada just doesn't receive a whole lot of returns on any given day )

ok, laptop picked up by dhl yesterday and was at heathrow airport within 2 hours (if only they would fly them out to us after being built and not having to rely on the road traffic).
as they said i actually did not have an extention of the 14 day return/refund policy to 30 days (complete lie as its not the sort of thing i would make up) then it has gone back for a repair.IF i find one thing wrong with it on its return i will then have the 14 days to cancel.

so the story continues..........
