Or maybe we got it all wrong and the phases are from 9 to 1 and I'm the best. bah, can't wait till I call them up tomorrow lol.
-
At least, you are luckier than me because you do not stay in phase 4 any more (^_^). For me the phrase "phase 4" is a nightmare.
-
just been looking at the Area-51 m15x Update from Alienware thread and NNugles had his m15x shipped yesterday
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=228872&page=51
so there is some movement from the AW factory. -
true only problem is they have a special factory in europe and special euro suppliers. so we can't compare. In US the production was stopped due to overheating and other complains, in Europe if you ask the CS about these issues they never heard about them.
-
I cancelled my M15x yesterday.
The money had been taken out of my account within 24 hours of the order and I moved into phase 4 almost straight away. Now, over a month later and my delivery date has passed without any contact from AlienwareIf this is a sign of their customer service, I'll go elsewhere.
Hope they get the refund sorted as quickly as they take the money.
Best of luck to all still waiting. Hope the computer is everything you hope for. -
Are alienware UK aware of the downclocking and chassis issues? Do we know if UK M15x's will be shipped with the new BIOS?
-
@btgman no idea, they should i think.
@doc_croc what? you're leaving now when you could go phase 3??? OMG! -
could be a wise move tho Doc_Croc
so that means maybe -
Lol. Well, yeah - who knows anymore
-
Lol. Well, yeah - who knows anymore
-
Please Alienware, can I have my money back?Soon?
-
-
Just kidding lol, did they give any explanation on the phone? BTW phase 1 means they didn't take the money yet so maybe they already returned it reading your mind on canceling lol. -
My gripes are that (i) they take the money whilst knowing that they can't deliver, and (ii) the lack of updates on delivery problems. It states quite clearly on the order status page: "In the rare occurrence that a PC component is not readily available, you will be notified via email". This didn't happen. I got better info from the wonderful forums at NBR than I did from Alienware. Given the well documented problems with the M15x, I would like to see better quality customer support in case the overheating issues lead to problems in the future and I need the help of said customer support. -
Uk people we need to take astand and do something about this, it feels like there laughing at us,
I think we should contact the HQ in Miami -
If you send an email to the alienware.com emails it gets redirected so unless we get a good address...

If someone can do abit*hy ass letter to them i can get them posted ASAP. Fedex Mail free of charge, Lucky we are in the parcel business -
we could try that. Maybe chaz could point us to a more "electronic" way of contacting them but he never visits our nice Euro thread
. Maybe we should pm him and the alienware reps on the forum and see if we can get an email from the US AW that doesn't redirect back to Euro AW.
-
what about trading standar's. as im pritty sure we have been treated unfairley
-
someone brainy willl have 2 do it tho. im thick as sh*t
-
how does bbc watchdog sound.
or does it have to be a uk company.
bring back ann robinson, that would scare the crap out of em. -
We could rally about 10 or 15 customer to all cancel at one time, that would hit them hard, or just before it ships to us, we can phone saying naaaa im good u keep it, can i get my Quiddys back now bitach
waste there time -
Hehe, I was thinking more in the I get it and if there is as much as a shade on the paint work it goes back for full refund. And that is not just an idea, is being planned since the first month passed lol.
Anyway, lets leave it until tomorrow and see if either Chaz or Alienware-xxx guys can take a look in the Euro thread and suggest a normal action. If not we do what the US did in the case of cracks and in the case of heating...
Write to...
http://www.engadget.com/contact/tips/
and we can also try tomshardware (that is a bit more read in EU at least) and why not contact chaz and ask him to warn European customers in the review. I mean a serious website should not recommend buying this laptop if the waiting time is 3 month and AW tells you maximum 28 days...
I'm pretty sure a 3rd bad user comment will not feel good for the company. For now lets see what tomorrow brings.
-
Correct me if im wrong but they cant change us the 15% restocking fee in britain can they ?
-
No, from what I read in europe is a 2 weeks free return. No restocking fee in the first 2 weeks. I'll double check it to make sure but is written in that long list on AW website where all the legal bull*** is (you know this one where it puts that the system will be perfect and delivered fast etc).
-
before you all think about going down that road i think we need to find out a few things first.
with the phase game, we need to know if this is updated in america only or can it be done in ireland as well.this will prove there is no real communication.
my email i received was a .co.uk so that defanately didnt come from america. we need to find out exactly where they come from.
another point might be whoever writes the letter can give them some statistics of how much they could be loosing if a lot of people canceled.
so if you dont mind putting what you paid and then we add it all up it might wake them up a bit.
i paid £2.005 -
2.736 around that over 2.7
-
In my order i have a 9cell additional battery, but now it was removed in the website. So, could i have it when mine be shipped?
-
mine was roughly 2k euros since we dont have the killer UK taxes in Switzerland.
About the emails and stuff, Alienware is based in ireland and there they have their europe/north africa etc factory that covers this quarter of the world. From talking to some of their CS on the phone they do not depend on US for parts and building or CS which means they have everything here including EU suppliers. The phases update only from the Euro servers in Ireland since if ou go on the US website (.com) you get invalid order number if you try to track your status. So if we contact US headquarters we need a corporate contact not the usual feedback@... bulls**t. I vote for going over the US contact and directly to consumer magazines with the complains, it will hurt more and trigger a response soon. Also, we need to write the email complaining about the huge delays and the continuous lies of the customer support. In this way we can get the people that canceled their order to sign it up too since they were affected by this as well. -
some interesting facts there ioaniro,thanks.
i didnt know there was actually a factory in ireland,i thought it was just their euro offices.
so far then:
£2005
£2700 ish
2,000.00 EUR = 1,577.84 GBP
thats 6 grand already -
Hey guys, I was just wondering if you ordered from Alienware.com instead of .co.uk they would still ship it to us folks here back in here Blighty?
The reason why I am saying this is because... You do the same customization on the .com site and what with the current US dollar exchange rate to the GBP you get a killer deal. -
Bo@LynboTech Company Representative
dont know what trading standards or watchdog can do as the company is in Ireland.
Of course any advice from those would be to cancel and get something else.
they wont understand the attachment the forum members have to the shiny things from AW.
I really cannot understand why some of you are still putting up with this abysmal service. -
ordering on the us site my spec came to 2,947.00 USD = 1,467.56 GBP
£500ish cheaper -
Takes the P**s really.. -
Yep, but that's because of the high VAT in UK
.
-
maybe alienware-franck or steeve can come here and say what happen with the european m15x will be shipped......
-
Love it..... -
are you waiting for the m15x Harry88
yours will be ready by next easter
thats how we are all feeling at the moment. -
Hello everyone, first post so be nice!
Just thought you should know, i've been following the Alienware m15x story on here for a while and I'm in the same boat, I ordered about 3 weeks ago, got stuck in phase 4 for ages and yesterday morning or the night before I got moved to phase 5 saying my laptop is in production, which is where it stays now. I'll keep you all posted! -
I ordered mine on 13th of February, I'm even in same Area-Code as you and I'm still in phase-4.
-
after all the calls various people have made over the last few days its getting very confusing where we are actually at at the moment.
if you go by my last chat with CS then we should all get our lappys next week as the production line started on wednesday.
since then other members have spoken to CS and been told they are still waiting for the chassis so hopefully we should get them by christmas.
keep ya fingers and everything else crossed. i will be chattin to CS in a couple of hours.
update to follow. -
Well that's just weird! Have you ever been in phase 5? It's hard to believe that I've jumped ahead of someone who ordered almost a month earlier. Did you order any extra bits alongside your laptop? Mine is just the standard set, 2.5GHz processor, nothing in the smart bay. Only extra i got was 4 Gigs of ram.
-
Hound them MrDJ. I've just sent them this:
They fail to realise they aren't always going to be talking to a single customer with each answer they offer, they're talking to a community.
They embarrass themselves when they tell different people conflicting information.
@LaptopLu,
Yeah I got a few extras and SmartBay devices, but I've been told the only thing holding me back is the Chassis. If other parts had been holding me back, I'd have cancelled them and ordered them separately at a later date to speed things up. Either way they've let me down it seems. -
AW: "Hello this is Alienware Customer Support, Can I take your order number?"
Me: "Yes, it's 511123"
AW: "Ok, let me type that in 511123"
Me: "438582, correct"
AW: "Wait, you said 511123 earlier?"
Me: "Yes, 395837, that's what i said"
AW: "Madam, these are all different numbers"
Me: "Oh i'm sorry, given Alienware's track record, I thought I'd just pull numbers out of my arse!"
*hang up* -
I had a guy telling me that the SmartBay battery was delayed till the middle of March, and that if I cancelled it, it would speed things up. I then asked him how it would speed things up if the entire Chassis itself was delayed till the END of March, he then said "that's correct"
?
If any Alienware employees are reading, go find which ever overpaid business streamlining bloke thought it would be an excellent decision to outsource your Customer Service department, and give him a look of disgust for me.
Don't be friends with him. -
MY problem is that I'm going on holiday from 7th April for a week so if they decide to ship it then i'm not going to be in. Any idea what package delivery service they use and how long they'll keep it for. Would the package delivery people send it back to alienware after a bit?
-
Here is the latest email from Alienware that I received today(27/03/08)
"Dear Valued Alienware Customer,

I ordered mine 6 Feb and 14 Feb moved to phase 4 and stayed at that phase until now. -
Yeah I got that e-mail too.
I've been dragged into attending a LAN gaming thing by my brother at the start of April, and this was the sole reason for getting the AW M15x, as my desktop setup is a bit delicate.
If I deem the moving of my desktop around not as much of a pain in the arse as dealing with AW, I'm going to cancel and spend the money on a respray and some moutain bike gear for the summer. -
Anyway, I got the email as well... Bla bla unforseen bla bla. We will receive the thing on 31st and start building... I don't see how they worked closely with the vendor to get such a nice date for shipping since the vendoe was saying 2 weeks ago that the shipment was due on 25th unless working closely in AW book means... "we have worked very closely with our suppliers to insure that your order gets further delayed thus offering you our unique 3 month waiting time for prime ".
I'll call them later on to see who screw up my order this time though. As I said, phase 4 since 9th of February and yesterday I was all of a sudden phase 3... -
I don't understand why some of you can move to phase 5 while they are still waiting for the chasis.
