Is AW premium service, they put together everything and ship it in case you need it. Then when they get the chasis they send it over and you get to make it yourself in the kitchen. And as a bonus you are required to write the service manual for their factory in case you need to send it in for repairs.

They're probably trying to hide the fact there are delays to people who have placed orders more recently. In reality they're probably in phase-4 like the rest of us.
-
ages ago that told us they would get the parts on the week starting the 25th etc et c now the 31st.
Whats the bets nexts weeks they tell us week starting 1st of april
100% if they dont have the parts by the first week in april , im off finished canceled -
That exactly is what i'm thinking now,LOL -
Ok, 45 minutes on talk with several guys I might have some news, maybe they are even true
.
1st asked why my order jumped from phase 4 to phase 3, they said that is automatic and that after a certain time in phase 4 the system does some strange things and puts you back/forward a phase. So even the computer in AW think that phase 4 for 2 months is not normal lol.
2nd about the building, they confirmed what was said in the email, chasis arrive on 31st.
3rd asked about why some people jumped recently to phase 5 and he said that yesterday they had a small shipment of chasis for validation (part of the big stock coming monday) and after they were validated they were assigned to production for the computers that all the parts were available. That sounds so strange that might be true. I asked why someone that ordered the computer 2-3 weeks ago has all the parts ready and me, ordering in february 5th am still on hold... Apparently they are also on backorder on CPUs and they only have one type of CPU around... Also that CPUs should arrive tomorrow... Now I dont know who's the smart ass in AW that thought that I might not need a CPU and didn't order one for me 2 month ago but as usual AW sucks so what can you do? This is already starting to stink as a reason. I mean I oredered a 2.6 penryn, nothing special so my guess is they have on stock only some 2.5 ones? Maybe the guys that jumped to 5th can post up their processor config.
All in all, as usual the guy on the phone was nice, trying to help but my guess is the poor guys have no idea about what is going on. He assured me that my system will start building later today-tomorrow if they get the processors or at the latest Monday. I have asked for an email confirming this and if Monday I don't see myself in production I'll call them up again to annoy the hell out of them. Anyway, if we choose to believe what was said, the people that yesterday jumped to phase 5 might actually be in phase 5. For all the rest (including the ones jumping phase 5 10 days ago) it most probably was a fake phase 5 so no idea where you are. -
Sounds promising for me then, at phase 5. Fingers crossed for all you other guys, we'll have to arrange a celebratory game night or something once we're all up and running!
I can confirm that my processor is: Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T9300 2.5GHz (6MB Cache 800MHz FSB)
So perhaps all the others with this processor are the ones that have been moved to phase 5 too? -
I know the DJ guy has the same one, 2.5 so it might be this. cross your fingers for the rest of us that went for the strange out of stock CPUs
.
-
Well that's what you get for being all flash and wanting the top of the top of the range! (Not a typo there btw).
This will probably get me in a LOT of trouble, counting my chickens before they've hatched and all but, sometime next week when i recieve my new laptop i'll be sure to post loads of pictures of me using it, just to rub it in! -
Sounds good news
there is alittle hope i get it before 3 weeks on saturday. i wonder if they would let me get fedex to collect -
-
I went to Phase 5 yesterday - my order included the T9300 2.5Ghz CPU.
-
-
hehe, you're optimistic, that's good!
Anyway 3 ppl that ordered and went to phase 5 this week have the 2.5 in their config so maybe what I got from the CS is true. That would be a first, time to go celebrate! -
PHASE 6:
sorry, just felt like saying it to see how it felt.
still in phase 5
im at work now so cant reply to everyone but will try to catch up when i get home.Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -
Lol - there are 3 of us in phase 5 in UK. Feel like a guinea pig ...
-
We're all going to automatically hate you now for receiving special treatment. All the cool people are being forced to wait
-
Hehe, we'll lol at ya if people who are still in phase 4 will receive their systems faster than you
. CAN'T wait till Monday damn it
-
Ok, put new picture to celebrate!
-
You can only laugh at the situation were all in
-
To laugh is one option. I however have taken the option of hate, anger, and venom.

Hey, without Alienware being a bunch of incompitant ninnies, we wouldn't have so much fun in this forum now would we!
-
ive never posted so much on afourm in my life. apart from Rapidshare sites saying thanks
-
I hate to be the bringer of bad news Mr DJ and laptoplu girl but have just got off the phone from AW having tried to quiz them (i say tried becuase just as i was really getting stuck in the call "mysteriously" was cut dead....full signal etc..
).......hmmm i smell something fishy going on and i'm not just talking about the content of Baldrick's apple crumble! ( Black adder
sorry, couldn't ressist it).......anyway....what i did manage to find out from the CS was that "there was no-way anyones system has started being built yet as they have no chassis and that apparently they do have all the processors".......??????
These inconsistencies are begining to make me really nervous now.....if their manufactuing department is anything like thier information department......i'll be surprised if the machine will turn on....i can just picture it......ooops, we forgot to put the Cpu in.....o well, hehehe, they won't notice, they'll be to busy playing with the nice shiny cap that comes in the box
-
Hmm, I'm not sure. What ioaniro said earlier seems to have a ring of truth to it, some of us have moved to phase 5 and we seem to have the same specs, processor-wise, so it all seems to fit. I'll much rather sit here in optimism that my laptop is being built as part of a small run and that the person you spoke to didn't know about this small run. I might be a little naive to hope that this is the truth but at least it's the happiest alternative!
I suppose one way to prove that my laptop is being made is if it moves to the next phase in the next few days... anyone have and idea how long it takes to move from 5 to 6 on average? -
phase 5 to 6 should not take long, my guess is Monday-Tuesday you should jump
. I'm still optimistic with the reply I got but just to make sure I told the last guy I talked to to send me an email with the answers he gave me in writing so as soon as that kicks in we have some written stuff to shove up their... in case Monday they say... Smile! You're on hidden camera!
. April fool! Muhahahaha.
-
4 days to build a laptop with no software on it? What are they doing? Etching it out of gold?
-
-
They are still waiting on the parts...
-
Bonjour from France ^^
To complete & confirm some information , AW received this week some parts AND built some M15X but these one have been built not for customers but for a special "Computer event" somewhere in the north of Europe ( Munich in Germany I think ...).New parts delivery might be done in a couple of days.
To confirm that we are all in the same case , I have ordered mine on Feb.4th
...wait & see -
ok, its my turn.
whenever i get through to CS i seem to get a friendly chap that knows what he is talking about.
the phase 5 gang ARE in production.
the post that ioaniro posted earlier is correct.
i cant imagine what all of the members are feeling that ordered in february but i think in the long run they will all be despatched at the same time as ours.
ps. the over heating problem has totally been resolved.
jim
(8 days and counting) -
you tell them MrDJ
. I'm not pissed I dont get mine earlier than others but AW really need to sort things out lol, I mean people that ordered in February don't have the processors yet lol. And I can even gues why, here is my resoning:
1. when we ordered in february the penryns were not available (the new processors you guys got) so we ordered with the old ones.
2. AW placed ordered for CPUs but Intel probably shipped penryn only thinking that AW will just replace the old ones with those but AW didn't think about that.
3. Some of us (me included) changed our orders one month ago for penryns but for some reason it did not get updated with AW. And when I changed the processor I did make sure I'll be put back on the top of the list (that's why in my emails it says my lapy will be built on high priority).
Is just a guess but I'm pretty sure is not far off the truth. The old gang that did not cancel pay the price for having an older CPU or, if they changed, pay the price for an incompetent manager that forgot to update the order in the supply order.
Keeping fingers crossed that in 10 days or so we'll be sitting at home waiting for a big black box. -
ok, i rang them at about 3pm today, was told that the chassis' would be in week beginning 21st, so thats next week, i asked if anything else was out of stock, and was told the smart bay battery i had ordered is currently out of stock, but that wouldnt have any bearing on my order as if it is still out of stock when they build it, they will send it afterwards. i asked why i hadnt been told about this, and was told i shouldve got an email. i havent. so, im going with the points, maybe they did have some chasis' in, and they are ok so some people may well be in phase 5, thats great, and the rest of us, HOPEFULLY we will all move to phase 5 on monday, well, all febuary orders anyway. lets not forget, the reason we have had to wait is not because the chasis' were out of stock, but because the first ones, in america, kept cracking and popping out of place. now, as long as mine is here, fully working, not overheating or cracking, by the 11th april, 2 weeks 2moro, i wont be that pissed off. any longer, and i may have to jump on the "lets f@$k them up" bandwagon!! lol.
peace and love and positive mentalities!!! -
Mine is now in Phase 9 (as promised by AW when I spoke to them on the phone on Tuesday). It went straight from 5 to 9 in last couple of hours. Let's see if I actually get it next week ...
-
-
that excellent news btgman, quality. you can be the guinea pig then and lets all the rest of us know what sort of shape its in when it finally ships!!!
-
@btgman also what are the specs of that thing? Just for comparison.
-
1440x900
8800M GTX
T9300 2.5GHz
2 GB RAM
200GB Harddisk
No added extras for smart bay.
It's gone from Phase 4 to Phase 9 in 3 days. So, if it's for real that means 3 days to build, install software and test. Let's hope it's ok. -
Ioaniro, I'm in UK
-
cool! you're confirming our suspicions, 2.5 builds
.
-
-
No one else in Europe in Phase 9, at all?
-
nop, lol. You win the crown!
Well at least not on the forums. -
glad to hear your finally back on track. vip status or what. -
-
Lol at MrDJ. Is there really a courier strike? That would be funny.
I'm not completely comfortable having mine the first to ship -
Well, you can always just change your shipping location to me, I won't feel bad about it
.
I also choose the 2.5 processor, but still in phase 4. All French are in 5? Lucky guysGot the same e-mail as everyone else, parts will be in 31st March. My friends already say I'm obsessed by AW, checking my status via mobile every hour
-
tell me about it, i have to go into the office at work to use the computer to check it, one of the guys in their says im obsessed lol. its just hard waiting for something that should be soo good, and having to wait over a month and a half for something that cost over £2000 is shocking!but, the end is in site, hopefully
-
im seriously really happy for you.
GUESS WHAT.......
after my phone call today to CS (i was really nice to him on the phone) ive just received an email for CS quality feedback.
ok,who dares me
