right, now we are playing the waiting game we can chill a little.
im not a gamer but now im getting a gamer pc i suppose id better start.
can anyone suggest any good games that dont take up much brain power to start with so i can have a play. i hear everyone on the usa thread talking about crysis, so whats this all about then. im into space shoot em ups and stuff like that. the nearest ive got to gaming is on my nintendo gameboy about 10 years ago and also some classic arcade games from the 80s including galaxian, pheonix and 1942. ive been given a copy of bmw M3 challenge (any ideas if its any good).
also need a decent mouse instead of the pants microsoft one im using now
(i hear razorback are good) and finally a half decent controller.
so any recommendations from you the experts.
cheers

Hey guys, I am also in Phase 5 since Wed morning/Tuesday night. I also have a 2.5 Ghz Penryn as part of my order so maybe ionaro's theory fits. Everything else is standard except for the 2 year warranty (NOT taking chances). I ordered on the 11th of Feb. I havent spoken to a customer rep today but I received the email about the chassis.
I suppose they might be gathering screws and internal cables in a little pile in the assembly room, maybe thats why we are in Phase 5 !!
@ bgtman : You are either extemely lucky or cursed... Anyways good luck!
@ MrDJ : Maybe you could try NFS Pro Street or something, its a good game although I prefer the Underground series. Try out some multiplayer and Orange Box. Does anyone else play BF2142 ? -
Maybe it's a mistake and I'm actually in Phase 5. We'll see next week.
-
@MrDJ
For a mouse i would actually go with either death adder or logitech g9. i assume you use your mouse in your right hand since both those mouses are made for the right hand. I have both of these mouse and i really enjoy using them. i never want to go back to worse mouse now
For a controller i would go with either a xbox 360 controller or use a saitek controller. i perfer the saitek controller for pcing gaming tho. i have a saitek thats a couple of years old and it still works great.
For games i would recommend you pick up the orange box first. 5 games for only 50 bucks. and they are all good...especially team fortress 2. With crysis the only think i see thats good about that game is the graphics. -

I sent this:
-
have you moved to phase 5 now EeekiE?
-
I basically did the same yesterday on the phone and got put in phase 3 lol. They still did not answer my long and bitter complain email though
.

@MrDJ
offtopic...
I see you have been out of the gaming buisness for while
If you wan`t to use a little bit more your brains than your mouse-skills and reflexes I`d recommend Turn-Based-Strategy, or Strategy games in general.
Those games require a lot of planning and logical thinking.
Some good ones:
-Civilisation 4 and Addons
-Total War 2
-Galactic Civilisations 2 and Addon
-Heroes of Might and Magic 5 and Addons
There are much more games. I left out the hardcore strategy games. The ones mentioned above are easily accessible and can be cranked up in difficulty if you get used to them. They all have a lot of replayability. I`d recommend to google them and get some infos, then decide which suits your taste. Each and everyone of those games can be played like 200 hours+ if you wish. They are great fun!

It's getting really close, if it doesn't arrive next week then i'm on holiday and i won't be around to pick it up for a week... hope they don't send it back to Alienware if that happens!

Phase 5: (Production Phase 1 - Assembly)
Your system is being hand-built by an Alienware Assembly Snail. Alienware takes great pride in slowing annoying the person who bought the system by building our systems as slowly as possible, as our motto reflects, "build it as if it were a radioactive nuclear bomb that will explode if anything nearby moves at more that 1 cm per hour." The assembly stage can take a stupid amount of time, as all the components and cabling in the system is carefully fashoined out of the rarest materials on earth for greater build time. Every Assembly Technician has been hobbled and blinded to Alienware standards. We pride ourselves on giving you a high performance computer system sometime during the next ice age! -
-
i bet youve got a big grin on your face now.
nice one btgman
thats you moving back to defcom 3 then -
I'm going to kill myself... Couldn't resist to call them today, and they said that all parts will be in next week, but there are many systems that have to be build blabla and so I should enter phase 5 in about 7 or 8 April. So all of you that placed orders first, be happy
EDIT: also she said that once I hit Phase 5 it should be produced fast as notebooks don't take long to be built. -
omg... just checked my order status...
Phase 9: (Order Shipped)
Congratulations, the order has been shipped. We only hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed building it for you.
YES!!!!
I just hope that this thing gets here safe... and without any quality problems... claiming warranty will be a big problem for me all the way here in Australia.. -
choey when did you order, and what CPU u getting ?
Jason -
I ordered early March. I'm getting T9300 and 8800M GTX. No other accessories.
-
Good Gratz to everyone that will get theres soon, now roll on monday
for me
-
I just got an email from AW with my DHL tracking number. So I guess it should arrive next week some time. I'll keep you posted.
-
-
Ok, now I'm very pissed off.I'm still in phase 1,do you now why?Beacuse I can not buy this laptop on line.In bank they told me that AW must sent "A Printed Bank Giro Credit".I have to wait now over one week for letter from AW.How did you guys pay for m15x?
Please help me -
Check your emails, especially your spam folder, for an email from Alienware telling you what you need to do. That's what happened to me.
-
.
-
P.s. How You guys did pay?Can You told me in witch bank and what kind of bank you kept yours card? -
The best bet is to pay by credit car ove rthe phone, then. If you don;t have one can you borrow one from one of your family? Credit theier card with the money from your bank, then pay over the phone.
-
-
I think that there is something wrong witk this fuc..... bank.
I'll try to do another older from AW.
Do You know how to cancel the order? -
-
What bank are u with.
Im with HSBC, just tell them u want to do a UK wiretransfer, And give them the account details that u get in the email.
Remember to put yr Ordernumber on the wire transfer -
I'm in the Barclays Bank, and when I ask about that wire transfer they said that I can not do that in any bank in UK without this Giro card something, witch is stupid because I spoke with AW about all this stuff and they told that they don't know nothing about this Giro Card.So I'll go to HSBC and ask they but I have to wait untill monday now
This is e-mail from AW:

I was really considering buying the M15x... Luckily I had a quick chat online with a sales representative. Honestly, are these people as stupid as they seem?
Here is the very fruitful conversation:
"Assistant.: Hi, my name is xxxxxxx.. How may I help you?
milcs: Hi xxxxxx, I'm interested on the M15x and I'm considering buying it!
milcs: I have one problem though... I've been reading a lot about the laptop, and it came to my attention that lots of users are reporting several problems.
Assistant: What problems
Assistant: ?
milcs: In the list of problems, the worst ones are the overheating of the GPU and downcloacking, the wobble of the LCD and some cracks that appear on the plastic casing with use
milcs: I'm still tempted to buy the laptop but I want to be sure that, if these problems exist, I will be able to send it back without having to pay any fees (on the 30 days after purchase)
Assistant: Should something like that happen then you may want to call in however I have not heard of some of those issues occurring with the laptop
milcs: well... I can guarantee you the laptop has several issues and if you don't know about it, then it's very weird as on the Notebookreview forum
milcs: there's alienware representatives
milcs: that admited these problems and tried to solve it (for instance, the new bios released v30, is an atempt to solve the GPU downcloacking due to overheating)
milcs: anyway
milcs: the question is
milcs: if the laptop does have these problems
milcs: will i be able to get a full refund for it?
milcs: (if I send it back on the 30 days after purchase?)
Assistant: You would need to call in regarding that matter. Should to return the system you would need to send it in within the 30 days and there would be a 15%restocking fee
milcs: 15% restocking fee for a defective laptop?
Assistant: You would need to call in regarding that matter
milcs: Ok xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx... Thanks! You just convinced me not to buy the laptop... Paying £1700 pounds for a laptop, risking that it doesn't work and then sending it back and having to pay £255 for "restocking" it's quite a joke!
Assistant: Is there anything else that I may help you with?
milcs: More, I'm sure that in Europe this re-stocking fee is ilegal!
milcs: anyway
milcs: no, that's all! Thanks for your help
Assistant: Thank you for considering Alienware, have a great day!" -
These are the termis and conditions on AW europe
