No Restocking fee for us buddy, Diff story in the US

Well... I am in the UK and that was a representative from the UK...
And another thing... why should I have to pay to be shipped a defective computer??? It baffles me...
I had a Dell XPS M1530, they sent me two laptops and in the end returned both (at the same time). Had ALL my money back! The laptops are defective... is it my fault? Why do I have to be responsible for paying 1p for a broken machine? -
the main reason is all banks are doing this to protect the account holder of fraud.
i have no limit on my debit card and had over £2000 in the account at the time so i knew there would be no problem. i then get a call from AW telling me to check for an email that had been sent. the email asked for proof of who i was.
it wanted me to send a photo of my credit card on top of a utility bill so as to clarify i was who i said i was. i found this very strange and rang their accounts dept. explaining that this wasnt really safe sending information via email but they said that was the only way to continue with the transaction.
i then waited 2 days thinking everything was fine and then i get a email from AW again saying my bank had blocked the transaction.i ring my phone bank and they said no problem they will take the block off. what a bloody carry on and that wasted almost a week in sorting everything out.

I am really envious of guineapig.... I mean btgman since his has already been shipped.
I paid by wire transfer through Natwest. All I had to do was fill up a form with Alienware's bank detail and mine including order no and then it was quite straightforward. -

remember guys that Alienware is situated in Ireland, so in essence its a foreign company. This may also be why they could get away with the restocking fee. Would have to check EU purchasing laws on that one.
the whole carry on paying carriage is a joke, especially if Dell dont have a problem doing free shipping to and from when something goes wrong. Dell is after all Alienware's parent company.
Denial of faults discovered on the machine, seems to just fall in line with their inability to give out any real information on the status of orders.
I have to repeat myself, no-matter how nice this machine is, can you really work with a company that is so flawed? -
i think were all kinda hoping that once we get our hands on our machines we wont have to have much to do with AW after, obviously updates and drivers etc, but thats all done through the control centre i believe? i know we've all been messed around, but i am gonna give them a chance. heres just hoping that come monday im in production!!!

Even if they do, it's probably a waste of time. They don't update it very often. Mine went from Phase 5 to 9 in one go. Look on the bright side -you could be in Phase 9 already ...

I want to believe you... i really do! My luck says otherwise. All i can think about right now this is bloody laptop and when it's coming, if i knew it was on it's way i could relax!

my dispatch date is meant to be this friday even tho i am still in phase 5. as i didnt update my shipping to a weekend i suppose i will have to wait until monday now.

i dont alienware updates your status on weekends. i think they only do it during the week days.

There told me there doing tests on the CPUs that they just got it etc etc, and it should go into production this week.
So i canceled my cancel lol -
I ordered 4 March, and the rep I spoked to last week said mine should go into production in about 7-8 April since they have many orders. After that everything should go pretty fast. Anyway, since I don't need my laptop fast I can wait, BUT IT MAKES ME SICK

spoke to them today and was told,yes it is in production. i said hasnt it been in production since 25th march and she said, oh yes it has.
i was told by edward a week ago that i should have it by the end of this week. todays phone call make that seem not so likely. she said, oh you will receive an email as soon as we get a shipping number. i asked roughly how long that would be and she said she wasnt sure but to wait for the email.
bloody graet.
i dont want to but cancelation will be the next option i think. -
Nooo, don't cancel! Be strong, you've got the same configuration as me and we're both on the same phase... if you go i won't know how my order is progressing too!

I ordered mine on 13 February still no laptop, but today I got my laptop case delivered from Alienware, so somethings are moving. Hopefully the laptop in on its way soon.

testing the cpu's............k...........what for? exactly? it either works or it doesnt.....I know sometimes you get ones that partially work, but that should be picked up in the machine build and 200 point test.
shouldnt they be stress testing the whole machine?

ok then, i rang them at 3.30pm this afternoon and asked whether or not the new shipment of chasis's had been delivered, i was told yes. so, i asked when i should be moved into production and the guy muttered something about there being a lot of people in line, i said"really? whys that" he kinda laughed. i said, basically, i ordered over a month ago now, had an est ship of 4 weeks, and 5 weeks later my laptop still hadnt even started to be built, im getting a bit annoyed. he said i should go into production today or 2moro.so, if not 2moro night i shall be on the phone again, he also said, i should have it in just over a week. so thats yet another weekend without it!!!!!!!!

if the 9 cell battery was in place of the standard battery then it sounds like you might have to wait but if it was an optional extra then they should ship the laptop first then the battery when it comes in.

Hey all,
My m15x arrived today about an hour ago! I'll post some pics and benchmarks later. My initial thoughts:
Looks: It looks less cheesy than I thought it was going. Apart from the alienhead on the front it looks ok. It doesn't seem as big as I thought it would either. It feels about the same size as an average 15.4" but the screen seems much bigger.
Screen: It's great: bright, great colours, lots of space. DVDs look great on it.
Speakers: They sound ok - better than a lot of laptop speakers I have heard, but they're not very loud at all and despite this they distort at max vol. Luckily I'll be using speakers or earphones.
Build quality: Mine actually feels quite sturdy. There is some flex in the bottom right of the keyboard but it's slight and I wouldn't have noticed it otherwise. My screen does creak a little and it does flex. I don't have a gap above the ethernet port as some people have reported but I can see the beginnings of a gap above the 3-in-1 car reader. It may start to crack in a few months. We'll see. Over all it feels quite sturdy though - I don't have any problems picking it up. MY touch controls are not too sensitive - the volume works ok as does the bluetooth and wireless the aliencontrol centre is abit more temprmental. The Alienware name below the screen doesn;t light up - no matter what colour I select in the control centre. All other lights work, including the side pipers around the side of the monitor. I don't really care about the Alienware name not lighting up but the fact that it's supposed to and doesn't makes me think that build quality is not 100% ...
Other stuff: I have the new BIOS X30. I've not done any benchmarking yet but my 3DMARK score from ALienware was 10,337. Not bad. I'll do my own test later and ceck for any downclocking. -
It's an extra not standard. Maybe i will require a confirmation from Alienware, if not i will remove it out of my order. I don't want to wait so long like that for an extra part. -

this is all excellent news, apart from the logo not lighting obviously. we have someone who has now actuallygot one!! mine moved into phase 5 today, i spoke to them yesterday and they said they have everything in stock now and i should recieve it early next week!! anxiety is being replaced with excitement at last.

Just when i thought things were looking up like you guys i recieved the same message that there is a back order of the 2.8 extreme processor.....wtf??? I am furious with alienware, having told me that all they needed was the f+@king chassis and that they had everything else.....now this, what do they take me for, an idiot........either they have been lying to me from the start or they are incompetent as f+*k!! I am seriously thinking now of registering a complaint to the trading standards authorities as this is ridiculous!

@btgman any idea how to use the tracking number that AW sends? Tried to go to dhl website and put the number in different tracking options and got nothing
. Or do you need to wait 1-2 days for them to update their site?
