The 3DMark score by Alienware for my machine is 13,600+.

Once I find the software, I'll give it another go.

Interesting. Some of the "professional(snicker)" reviews I read suggested that it struggles with Crysis to the tune of 10fps. Can you relay your settings and framerates please?

Wow! That's strong. And my exact setup as well. Maybe I WON'T cancel and order the M17x after all. Ahh my head!

Here's what I'm getting with Crysis, 1920x1200. My rig scores 14,800 3DMarks, so the fps should be similar to what Flash would get, maybe a tad higher.

    Crysis MEDIUM 23fps
    Crysis HIGH 23fps
    Crysis VERY HIGH 15fps

    Crysis Warhead ENTHUSIAST 15fps

Don't ask why I get the same fps for two different settings, because I don't know. These are in game benchmarks using FRAPS. Each benchy is about 3 minutes long, all in the same area. Ran each several times. The fps are strong, even in battle, so the 15fps is playable.

That's encouraging. The only primary difference in our rigs being I chose the 9300, which actually might hinder me a tad in this case. I doubt my single 160 would affect fps. We'll see. Are you overclocking?

edit - just saw your 3.33

Champs, I am eager to see what you can achieve, as you have the high-end rig. Right, I am OCd via flashing the OCZ BIOS. My warranty was shot to hell in the process.

Alright, I did the benchmarks ONLY on the specs I play. Also, if you don't patch Crysis to 1.2 you WILL NOT get the same results on same specs.

    12/14/2008 10:02:16 PM - Vista 64

    Run #1- DX10 1280x1024 AA=No AA, 32 bit test, Quality: High ~~ Overall Average FPS: 27.23

I will post 1920 very high and high with and without AA tomorrow, I'm just in the middle of studying for finals and didn't want to mess around with benches for too long. On very high on 1280 this game is very playable, and on high it is very smooth. The specs I play on are the sweet spot for this system :D

On 1920, however, you will have some problems on very high. No 10 fps, but around 15-20.
EDIT: That was a guesstimation on the 1920 fps.

    Hope this helps :)

Thank you for taking the time in the middle of finals :)

And yes, I'm equally curious about similar tests with the 9300.

As a footnote, i read maybe 6 reviews, and most of them weren't highest-end systems, so for me Sam's test is very encouraging.

    OK, in-game benchmark for Crysis.
All settings to MEDIUM, 1920x1200, Motion Blur OFF, sound quality LOW, vsync ON, 2xAA, 28fps during battle. No mods. Don't ask me what the hell is up with this. The AA looks amazing.

When the AA is enabled, I'm getting a bloom/hdr effect, too.

Nice. Tomorrow is likely my last day to cancel my M17 and throw down $400 for the maxed M17x I've had specced in a tab for a couple days. This info slows the trigger response heh.

I would urge you not to get the 17x, Champs. Its technology is getting more outdated by the minute. Plus there is strong talk about a 48xx upgrade for the M17 in the near future.

That would be amazing, I heard that when the 48XXm series is released the M17's now will be upgradable to them. How much truth is there to that?

That's the money question isn't it? What do you all think is the possibility of the 4k series cards with the M17?

It's one the primary buying points I considered when selecting the M17.

I don't think the 4 series is mobile yet, but when it is it will probably ship with the M17s. I just want them to be able to go into my current m17. Anyone know?!?!

Nah, the 4xxx series is allegedly slated for Q2 '09, and there is strong talk of the M17 being able to upgrade. You can Google it for more info.

I'm having "deja vu"....I bought my m9750 about this time last year, with assurance from AW that it would be upgradeable to the m8800 gtx...that never happened...I certainly won't be purchasing a lappy from these guys on the assurance it "will" be compatible with just-about-to-be-released hardware.

Once it is "official" that the m17 will support the 4xxx series cards I am pretty sure I will be getting one...the only reason I'd choose the m17 over one of the other variations out there (notably the Killer Notebooks Nagamaki) is the nice matte black finish...

    word!

Excellent. I play at 1280 because of the performance/graphics mix. I only lost 2 frames to AA putting me at 25.3 FPS average and 36.8 FPS max.

CPU, GPU was 61 on main an 59 on slave.

Okay, I should have 3DMark 06 by day's end and have results produced for tomorrow.

A few of you wanted to see benchmarks from a QX.

I've never run 3DMark 06 before. Is there a wizard of some kind that will make for a quick benchmark that produces the info you guys are looking for? A quick primer would be nice. If not, no problem, I can figure it out.
