Mirror's Edge really isn't a FPS, he wants a FPS so I would think something like Far Cry 2 would also be good.

My media keys don't light up, but the alienware website show these buttons illuminated.

 

Jep same problem here ... In a german forum sb phoned AW because of this and they said it has to^^

But we aren't the only ones with this problem

hey everyone just ordered a m17. I was going to get a quad but after i saw the price, i forgot about it. Here is what im getting

dual 3870
t9400
2gb ram( upgrading to 4 myself )
160gb HDD
ripley
illuminated keyboard

now my question is if i made a good choice on the cpu, i went for the 9400 because it was the first dual with 6mb of cache

 

Yeah, Alienware jacks up the price when it comes to the more expensive processors, namely the Extreme versions that you can't even overclock with the Alienware BIOS.

Nontheless, the T9400 is a good choice and seems to be the popular choice with gaming notebook owners. It'll net you about 12.5k in 3dmark06 and you should be albe to handle most games with no sweat.

P.S. a TRUE overclocking god wouldn't care about peasant-like warranties and grab a QX9300 on ebay for $525~550 and use an OCZ BIOS in the M17

I just got mine yesterday and I have the same issue as you. To be honest, I think the photo is misleading. My keyboard lighting is rather blotchy and my media keys don't light up.

Oh well...

 

This is, I would say, the normal^^ My first m17 was like this and my second (recived today) aswell ...

Update: Operation Illumination

keyboard arrived today. It took about 10 minutes to replace, the directions on alienware's page was 99.5% correct. I just seem to be missing the screw next to the CMOS batter lol oh well, it suuure is perty boy! I don't need a Christmas tree next year
