Wow, Congrats!
I was wondering about this after seeing all your posts about how long it was taking, what was the total time from order to delivery?
-

O I see, here we just take AP classes to graduate college faster, though your method would seem easier and higher guarentee that you would graduate college faster.

we were saposed to get a mouse pad? i got a sticker 4 cds and a little book and a hat !!!! is that sticker for the mouse pad?... o well ...im happy now i used my xbox 360 controller to play fall out 3!! works amazing
-
AntiSocialHermit Notebook Enthusiast
you got a link to download the xbox360 controller software for windows? Can't seem to find the dang thing on MS site...I got a wireless I would love to use.
-
If you want to use a wireless one, you need one of these:
Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver for Windows
http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-Wireless...4?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1233130086&sr=8-4
Or use a corded 360 gamepad, not the charger cord for the wireless one. It's actually still wireless, all that cord does is charge it.
-
Yeah, we were suppose to have received one.

Interesting bit of info on the M17 illuminated and non-illuminated keyboard.
So I complained that I didn't have little "nubs" or whatever you call them on the F and J keys on my M17 keyboard. I bought the NON-ILLUMINATED with my order because the illuminated was back ordered.
I ordered the illuminated keyboard for $35 last week and installed it this morning. Guess what.. the illuminated has the little "nub" things on the F and J keys. -
Jep ... true you are
But I think they are a bitte harder "recognicable" (hope you understand what word this should be
) because the keys are very flat and so you normaly dont touch the "nub".
Greetings

hey guys, i think im about to change my order to get a q9100 instead of a t9400. Im doing mainly gaming but want it to last long. Games still love core speed over number of cores, so im hoping the quad will overclock well, since i know the t9400 can do over 3ghz easily. Im just wondering if its worth the price tag to get 4 cores in a laptop, especially since i will always have xfire and dont want a bottleneck
-
I say stick with the T9400 now because buying a Q9100 from Alienware is not worth it considering the price ($600 difference). You can use that money to save up for a future upgrade to dual 4870s. Plus, if you want, after your warranty expires, you can pick up a QX9300 for real cheap because right now, QX9300 prices are in freefall (Retail chip around $650 on ebay, ES version around $550 currently, so you could imagine prices in a year or less).
-
alright the order is kep final then, here is exactly what i got, hope it runs well since im ocing that cpu lol

how much do you think the t9400 can overclock to?
-
since the m17 has pretty good cooling, i think you should be able to hit 2.7-2.8Ghz with the OCZ BIOS, no?

Congrats to you when it arrives.
I was thinking the same for the t9400. about 2.8ghz. but if 3ghz can be done then thats great. -
I will use clockgen or setfsb to OC the t9400...i had a laptop with a t9300 and i hit 3.1ghz...i should be able to hit 3ghz as long as the ram holds up to the OC since they are linked.
Im going to buy a 4gb of ram kit for this from the egg, is there any recommendations for laptop ddr3? -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
If you are overclocking then get ddr3 1333Fsb.
-
wait the m17 motherboard can handle ddr3 1333 chips in it?
-
vista loves 2 gb of ram im waiting to get my 2 gigs extra i didnt see a mouse pad on the alienware extra ... the wired controller =install easy and i thought the xbox 360 controller were blue tooth and if they are you know some one has them hacked to work ... just sayin
i brought up OCing the t9400 yesterday imma over clock later ....but my goal would be 3.0ghz ...drr3 1333
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Yes it can. up to 4gb ddr3 1333 or 8gb ddr3 1066 -
So what's a good ddr3 1333 4gb kit? Like brand wise from newegg
-
well, the only two I know of who make DDR3 1333 SODIMMS are OCZ and G.Skill with the latter being cheaper. Both have the same latency timings.
-
Ok thanks for the info. My last question is if the screen I choose will look descent. It's 1440x900 but I'm not too crazy about displays as long as it looks clear
-
i dont know what 1440 screen they use but i know the wuxga is the lg lp171wu3 and is fantastic
-
Well screen res wise, I hope it looks pretty descent for 1440.900 on a 17 inch
-
from what i was just told it is a really nice screen. the person i spoke with (not at alienware but they said the screen that arima uses) said the screen should be a lg
-
ok so i have the aw keyboard coming to replace the ocz one (lol) who wants to help me by ordering some body parts now.. i have to have someone who owns a m17 order the parts.. btw thanks go out to matt-helm for ordering me a spare keyboard it was greatly appreciated!!!
need someone else to order me some other parts now if anyone wants to help out lmk.. -
If anyone can hook me up with a spare AW M17 illuminated keyboard? I think only M17 owners can order. I'll add $20 plus shipping if you could. -
someone just has to order it for you. i was even told by aw they can ship it where ever but a m17 owner has to order it.
-
Any M17 owners out there willing to help a brother out? I got $20+ shipping on TOP of how much the replacement illuminated keyboards will cost, and free Arctic Silver 5 if you have plans to upgrade your GPU or CPU in the future
-
n/m I got an owner, thanks!
-
nice lol the 1440 looks amazing and the screen is amazing. im having trouble im running fallout 3 at ultra high 1440 rez and i will have like 50-60 frames constant then drop down to loike 7-15 then 1 min later then back to 50 , even if i stand in the same spot.... any ideas i updated my driver not E-wrecked though .... i even switched to medium detail and lowerd the distance down and it still did it please help i wanna play
-
Have you tryed to play it on 1280x800? (just a question I am intressted in^^)
Does this FPS drop come at "hevy" points? Explosions? Have you checkt the temperatures?
Greetings
Julian -
yea temps at the time are 68c and i ran it on 1440 res and no ill just be running thn it drops then i stand still and then it goes back up( ive got fraps)
-
If you move instead of "standing still" will the fps rate kepp down longer?
This would sound like a heatproblem ... but 68c isn't realy hot^^ What about the slave (I gess 68 is the master card?) ... or are both @ 68c? (normaly there is a difference)
Greetings
Julian
