    Hey Kcuk!

If you are getting the text "Arithmetic operation resulted in an overflow" with Alien Fusion, then you should know it's a known problem for Vista 64bit users. I'm not sure if there's a fix for that yet.

You know I found that Acronis True Image Home 10 and the M17 don't get along well at all. I've had several failed attempts to restore the C:/ partition. I even tried removing the EISA partition before backup. All failed attempts. The most progress I've made was entering Acronis safe mode off of an Acronis boot cd to restore, But the result wasn't able to boot even after manually repairing essential files lost in the restore. Luckily, the 57 dollar disk I bought from aw restores the EISA partition as well. I guess that came in handy after all. Not to mention loosing the ability to alien respawn via f10 after a manual install of a new os can be retrieved using the alien respawn disk.
All in all, I'd like to ask,
Is anyone using a 3rd party backup utility that actually works on the m17? Please don't answer with windows restore. I mean a full blown partition image restore utility.

Sry I only know Acronis and WINDOWS 7 backup (this is not "restore" it maks a bootable disk and a image dvd of C: ) ... I never used Acronis because I only want to use it for W7 backup ... but when I realized, that this "HDD imagemaking" is included, I didn't even install Acronis!

Sorry, looks like this is going to be a long post.

Well, I can make a backup of any microsoft os ... xp, vista premium, ultimate, 7; But, when I try to restore it never seems to load. ( PC should reboot then loads up the restore file, lastly, reboots to your restore. ) After the first boot, It will show " Acronis is Loading" then shows a curser square in the center of the screen, the keyboard turns white, you will get a glimpse of the restore screen, then vanishes to reboot vista or your os of choice. I have tried this with and without the EISA partition.
So, I tried (making) using the boot disk with Acronis so I could actually load the program outside of the os. success. However, the only way to access it is using acronis 'safe mode' so I thought success. However, after a restore there were missing files I had to repair and still to no avail was the backup a success. The backups I tried were all verified. The backups were never true in size according to Acronis. ( If you ever used acronis you should know what i'm talking about. If it says the backup is going to be 5 gigs it's 5 gigs, In my case my 7.5 gig backup never hit 6 gig ) So I thought, I'm doing it wrong, Nope. I've done it many many times and with and without respawn partition for this lappy. So 1 full week at my leasure testing Acronis with outstanding failures I can safely say... "It don't work with the m17"
On one of my encounters I seen there is a pre-boot going on before the os, not affiliated with the os or respawn partition mind you. (But may be part of respawn) I forget the name it but I think it may be the culprit. I'm thinking Priax or something the name had a P and an X. I totally forgot what that was tho. It should have been the equivalent to "No OS Found" error. Wipe your hard drive clean with an empty or no partition and you should see this message.

So in short, evidently, I'm missing something.

EDIT: btw, I'm using Acronis true image home 10. I know there is a new version out, but this version does work with vista.

lol thx and sorry for my noobyness!

I found where the bug comes from. The touchpad becomes unresponsive for a shortment after you press a key. If this was not answered yet, here is what you have to do, go to: command center>sense>sensitivity and then set the palm contact area to the highest sensitivity (react to my palm).

about the discontinuation of the whitebook....what the heck is up with that?

I wonder what kind of implications this will have going forward in terms of upgradability for the m17...it seems every time they release a rig it is abandoned for a new platform within a very short timeframe...could this be the fate of the m17?

either tearing or aliasing. to combat tearing, enable vertical sync. this will stop your GPUs from pumping out more frames than your monitor can display. if it's aliasing, try running the game at your monitor's native resolution, and crank up the AA (Anti-Aliasing) as far as possible without losing too much performance.

Question I was looking at the Xoctic 840, now that OCZ has killed them. SHould i go with the AW? I really like what I saw on this platform. Being able to upgrade the proc, GPU and Memory and HDD. I figure that way I can stay up for awhile with out having to buy a new system. This one needs to last me awhile. Single father, plus grandchild living with me.....Im sure you get the picture.

    Hi

He had asked if he can overclock m17 without voiding warranty.

And the answer is: No, You can't. AW bios restricts You from overclocking any processor onboard M17. It's possible to flash the rig with OCZ bios and make it overclockable, but by doing so you will void Your warranty.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think He reffers to so called micro-stuttering, which is common characteristic to SLI and Crossfire configurations when fps are around 30. As far as I am aware U can't do anything about it.

    Cheers
