its not loud and the cooling is fine i never hit over 86c while gaming 3 + hours

 

No complains. Brutal machine. If I have a question it's usually because I am doing something wrong. It's a sophisticated machine.

And as others have said: no heating, not loud. Eats games.

 

I can't wait for mine. I'm suprised how patient i've been. I ordered mine almost a month ago, and still won't get it for probably another week.

 

Mine should be nice. Spent all day updating Vista, drivers, and installing games. It'll be nice to actually get to play some, once all these chores are done!

I am glad to hear that it is a cool and quiet beast. I look forward to it, in another month possibly. Where is the best place to get all of the needed driver updates? I have been reading several forums and get all kinds of different stuff. Doen't AW have an area to get updated drivers?

Like Lordvader said, go to "my hive" for your drivers but I suggest you use E-wreck's modded graphics drivers cause they will give you much better gaming performance. I use his 9.1 drivers which have worked very, very well. I'm impressed by the performance gains using these.

I think I need to give "E" some more rep for them. It's the single best improvement to my gaming experience, after the M17 of course. Thanks for all your hard work E!

I'm going mad waiting for mine to arrive. It's going to be a long 3 weeks.

 

I got mine last Wednesday after waiting a month. I'm extremely happy with everything except for the sound. The main reason I bought it is for DJing and at times when I play songs the music either crackles or at times, jumps. I've tried re-installing Windows, updating drivers. After searching the net, I've come to the conclusion that its possibly the hard drive interrupting it or the wireless card. Has anyone has any similar sound problems?

 

Try this if you already haven't. Go to device manager and uninstall the audio drivers. Reboot and then use driversweeper to remove any traces of the old audio drivers. Then install the latest audio drivers from Realtek. Reboot and see if that fixes it.

ebay just make sure you get the exact model number of the screen so you can check it for viewing angles etc.

Are laptop screens hard to replace? I got the 720p screen because ill be playing movies on the tv, but looking at some pictures of laptop screens is making me wish i got the 1200p one.

 

I have a quick question I have been wondering about. There is a review of the M17 ATI cards on YouTube. I saw it the other day, unfortunately I can not access YouTube on this computer because it is blocked. Ok so the question is What is the game they are playing on the screen behind them? I cant seem to find out what it is. Its a FPS with like werewolves and what not. Looks pretty sick, but ive never heard or seen of it and cant find it anywhere...

Anyone know?

Hey thanks for the this, I tried it but sadly its still doing it. I mean after the install and reboot, I ran a song in VLC with just firefox open as the only other application. Its crackled and jumped at the start and then played fine, it usually crackles throughout though. I'm going to call Alienware today to get this fixed, when I got my PC off then one of the graphic cards was running at 150 degrees celcius so they obviously aren't checking their machines fully.

Dont think its underworld. There is a game for ps2 called underworld and there is a Tomb Raider Underworld. But its not it, dude this is driving me nuts that i cant find it...

you should've gotten a confirmation email with the tracking number. alternatively, you can contact alienware's customer support via email or phone and ask about your order status.

 

I have info on my order, still in phase 3/4 waiting on video cards to arrive. There is no official word as to when assembly will begin, but indications are around the 13th or 14th with a ship date of April 20 or 21. For info on your status get your Order# and then go to the Order Status page and login. Additionally, you call alienware or email them [email protected]

 

Well I ordered my by phone, maybe thats it. I was told that when they start building they will call me. I guess thats when I give them my email.

 

I ordered mine via phone also back in march, but was told communication would be handled via email

 

I was interested in M17 about 100 pages ago, and decided to wait for the 4870s' and thankfully I did as I changed my decision entirely and realised that long batterylife and lower weight are important to me than graphics are so I decided to go with the new Apple 17" Macbook Pro (8GB). I have found its fun to use both Windows and OSX and I am really enjoying it so its the best decision for me. It know it won't be as fast as the Alienware systems but I will leave those to you guys who like to tweak the bios and stuff and play crysis on high settings.

My thoughts on Alienware are awesome specs but the price for me in Aus is to high, weight is too heavy, power brick is way to big but other than that it looks really cool and I am impressed by the power.

Sry for OT but you are talking about games and I saw Gears of War some years ago for 360 in the TV and some days ago sb said something like: "I am playing GoW on my m15x" ...

I never saw it in stores ... is it because I am from germany?

Not at all Julian... Have U seen, for egzample, Metal Gear Solid 1 & 2 for PC(A lot lot better than concole counterparts IMHO, and one of best games I have ever played)? Huh? How about Homeworld Cataclysm? There had been loads of great games published for PC that we missed or simply weren't intrested in.

Well if everyone hasn't been checking the estimated ship date for the M17, its been around April 20 the last week or two.. or three. Hope they get those cards the waiting is just killing me!!! Anyone have any info on the ETA? I sent them a email but am too lazy to make a 5 minute phone call.

 

Yeah, I ordered mine yesterday! ETA is 420. My old favorite holiday before I joined the marines. haha

I checked the order status and it is in phase 2. From what I have heard, the website is not reliable, so you have to call them and see whats up with your system.

 

I talked to AW last night, depending on when you ordered it could begin to move very soon. AW stated they are expecting a shipment of video cards to arrive between now and monday (13th) once they arrive and are delivered to production, assembly will begin for the M17's dating back to march, which is when I ordered mine. ATI has been holding them up and they are working to address the issue. Apparently the M17 is selling better than they anticipated. ( I am still in Phase 4)...i will post when I reach 5 and beyond!

 

Awesome news. I ordered mine on the 31st, so I wonder how many others are in the queue before me.....
