This is actually great news. That means when we get those cards, with or without DDR5, we're gonna see some really big improvements.

Any 3DMark06 scores yet?

 

vicious had his q2000 scoreing 15k in 3dmark

 

Wow, really nice. Same as me accept I had to use Setfsb to bump up to 3.5Ghz.

 

Update!! I moved into phase 5 today and they expect phase 6 by the end of tonight early tomorrow. Looks like they will meet or exceed the ship date if there are no issues!...awesome

I'm pretty sure if AW was gonna use the DDR3 we would've had the 4870 cards sometime ago, but I am hoping the DDR5 versions AW claims to be releasing will happen soon so driver support and modding can take place before the M980U lands and make it an official 3 horse race between the Clevo M980u, W90 and the Whitebook for the best gaming notebook...

 

which the Whitebook would win due to the most power GPU's and Mobile quads

 

Well I'm not gonna up and say it will be only a two horse race between the M980U and the Whitebook after we get our DDR5's...W90 owners have only just launched their extensive modding and OC'ing efforts and the fact the W90 has a superior cooling system will play into the showdown for sure.

yeah hopefully it won't be too long for you. The website has been adjusted also for the video cards. It appears that they added a new TV Tuner option and lowered the proce of the 2.53ghz Quad as well.

Just got home and checked the email, my M17 jumped from Phase 6 to shipped in one day kinda scary but exciting at the same time!

Guess they didn't get enough cards to start building mine Still no call from them. Im kinda think I did something wrong in the process of ordering it. Would they still ship it without a email address? Great im paranoid now

is it odd for the build to jump from 6 to 9 so quickly? should i be concerned they just threw it in the box and shipped it?

 

Don't worry. It's not weird because that Phase website has to be the most unreliable thing they have.

Something similar happened to me and my computer has no issues (phew).

 

No worries, I ordered mine on 3/31 and the website still has me listed in Phase 3. Patience, it sucks!

What is the Best way to update Drivers ?
From the AW Support= My Hive ? or
From all original sites, Ati, Realtek,

I have Driver Magician & it shows that I need lots of Drivers to be updated
is it to be trusted & update ALL the Drivers from the download it gives ?

AW's drivers tend to be outdated. get the newest drivers from the manufacturers' homepages.

 

We got the M17 back in December, and its been a nightmare.

Just got it back last week after 7.5weeks of being out for repair.

The ATI hardware is a joke. In ATI fashion the drivers and support are just as bad as when the ATI Rage2 came out, and I vowed to never get ATI again. Sadly i broke it.. and it bit me in the butt.

Huge waste of $. Performance stinks.

 

what did you even bother testing new drivers?

alienware does suck as far as repaing sometimes but honestly you did something wrong because almost any Whitebook and m17 owner will vouch they have a powerful system. we still do have one of the top 5 fastest laptops out .....

 

we've dinked with probably every driver package out there... performance just stinks video wise.

alienware replaced pretty much everything but the keyboard and its been reloaded a few times and the #'s are just not that impressive.

It works pretty well for email and and irc, but thats about it. Do anything 3d and it doesn't put up the numbers. 3dmark scores between 8000-8500...

The laptop doesn't have jack on it, so not sure what i could have done wrong? Opening the box?

Whats funny is when i was on their phone support, they told me things like HDMI needed updates to make it work, and when i asked "so your telling me things on the laptop don't work out of the box?" , habeeb didn't know how to respond to that.

So far I give the whole AW experience and F.

AAAND, the system just locked up again. Looks like ill have to ship it off for another 2 months.. luckly the 4yr old Acer $399 laptop still works like a champ as its gotta go back to work again..

Plain and simple. Junk hardware, junk service, junk Company.

 

well there you go, now you know why the performance is bad. sounds like one of your GPUs is shot.

 

Well.. it was that before i sent it off.. and as I said.. they replaced everything basically but the keyboard... video was replaced in the mix.. and still same results and freezing playing any games.

so if its shot too, then my feelings of it being junk is pretty much spot on.

 

well get your money back then, and buy something else.

keep asking for a supervisor. politely mention that the underperforming system and lack of effective warranty work may be a BBB case. it may be a long shot, but you could try contacting [email protected]. finally, we have two AW reps here on NBR: Alienware-James and Alienware-Armando. try contacting them via PM and see if they can do something.

 

do you have catalyst AI enabled? its in catalyst control center if you do not have it enabled it will only use 1 gpu

the laptop is amazing once you get it working, its actually not designed by AW just put together

 

jdredd i see that your upset but i don't see your system specs any where. we can only help you but so far. for you gaming performance.
use alienware's stock driver for now. then open ccc and if you get a crossfire option then your slave card could be bad or the crossfire wire could be bad.

if we knew more about your computer we could tell you what score you should be getting.


that 8500points is 3dmark is about a p8400-t9400 and a single ati card
