Unfortunately, though, instead of running on electricity, it breaks down the ink and fiber in 50 dollar bills and uses that as fuel, so you have to keep inserting them into the slotloading optical drive to use it. And, you have to move it with a forklift and use it on the first floor of any building, otherwise there's a risk that it will spontaneously break a hole through the floor and plummet to the earth's crust.
Edit: Seriously, it does make sense for the systems to be debuted any day now. If they are in a catalog which has been released somewhere in the world, it would make sense to be able to go online to see the same products that were advertised in the catalog. Unless it just said "coming soon," I guess. But, then, even the website should say "these systems coming soon." Whatever, I'm just saying it makes sense for a company's website to mirror its catalog. :]

But why would we look to what dell has decided on for its lesser brands when speculating as to what will be put in its premium brand?
-
-
The GT 555M is definitely not built for 1080p gaming, unless you're talking at best Medium settings.
-
Yeah, I really hope we are all surprised and they offer a 1600x900 screen option...
Personally, I like 1920x1200 or 1920x1080 on 17" or larger screens. 14" seems perfect for 1600x900..to me -
-
The 555M is most likely pretty close to the 460M in performance. 192 shader vs 144. The 555M either has 3GB DDR3 or 1.5GB DDR5 on a 192 Bit bus. Not too far apart.
-

192 vs 144 is not even close......
-
On notebookcheck, the 555M, 260M, and 460M are all considered class 1 GPUs. However, the 460M is in the middle of the class whereas the 260 is closer to the bottom followed shortly by the 555. The 555 is actually just above the 8800M GTX towards the bottom of class 1. That was the GPU my old M1730 used to max out most everything 1-2 years ago. Not sure if any of that means anything, but there you go, anyway.
-
-
Isn't the 3GB not even really 3GB that is strictly for the GPU? Doesn't it share 1GB of that RAM?
-
No idea. Everywhere says its legit 3GB. Excessive?

So, I decided to do a little digging. Someone has proboly already said this, or may say I'm lieing, but go ahead. (*trolls* fake and =3) Anyways, I decided to call Dell Sales. Asked a dude about the M11x R3. Actually got a US guy. He said that his fiance wants one, and me wants an M14x. He said he didn't know when they will come out, but he said that the M11x R3 will start lower than the R2 out now, made sense since this has happened on all new SB dell models. (M17x, XPS 17) He also said it may be out in 2 weeks, since Dell tech training for it started Monday. So, I'm happy. Got a little info, and he said he'd email me when it comes out and make sure I got a good deal.
You guys got any comments?
-
555 does not sound right for the M14x. I was halfway expecting the 6870 to pop in the M14x and say hi.

It'll be embarrassing if dell gives the 555m ddr3 ram.

That looks promising..

They need to start speaking up with all these leaks showing up!

9:27:12 PM AJ ok, well thanks for the info.
9:27:39 PM Shoji M most welcome -
You know, I have been looking into other laptops like the new Sony S and C series, but I just looked at them today and the C series is too clunky and the S series is ridiculously old technology, you need to manually switch the GFX cards and you also need to spend $250 extra on the CPU to get the higher (not so good) ATI GFX card.
I am hoping that the new M11X R3 will be released soon, as I have no laptop now (sold the M11X R2). If it is not released soon, I might just have to get the L502X, good computer, just want a more portable gaming machine. -

I haven't seen a thread about this yet, perhaps I didn't look well enough but I thought I would post this for those looking forward to the M14x.

For the pessimists: Why not just try asking the guy that technerd emailed? He gave the guy's email address.

I hate to add to this, but...
I can't say much for fear of ... poop, coming down on this person, but I know someone in Dell. They had a look for me, and the M11xR3, M14x and M18x are listed internally. Apparently techs currently in training are being trained to include the above-mentioned first two models. Haven't heard much on the 18. From what he was saying, it sounds like it'll be similar to the M17xR3, just bigger. I'm hoping that one's not true myself, but who knows. I'll let you guys know if I hear anything else. -
(Sorry for my english )
A new model will be launch the 04.19.2011 but i dont know what model . Perhaps M11x R3 or M14x or M18x . Perhaps also all ... I think this release date concerned the annoucement of M18x but i dont have the certitude .
This information come of one man who has phoned to dell and the answer was : the 04.19.2011 . Waint and see ... -
Sounds promising many people now are saying 19th of April

I like the optical drive, but part of me really wants to have the extra hdd in there for storage.... Its not very often that I need to use a cd or even bring cds with me anywhere.
-
-
You can get the caddy that replaces the optical drive... so its either 2 hdds or 1 hdd and a optical drive.
I hope this this supports 12.5 mm drives too. -
^ You and me both.
No info on the speakers, chassis colours, or battery life though. Looks like a very nice laptop. -
-
Great, the 8cell battery should gove this badboy about 6hours of battery life!
Pretty good specs, makes me want to get one! -
Add a 2nd HDD using the CD/DVD Optical Drive Bay : NewmodeUS, Hard Drive Caddys for Notebooks
You take out your optical drive, and install this caddy, it holds a hdd and hooks it up to your system so your computer will have 2 hdd instead of 1 drive and a cd drive -
I think alienware should really do that as an option because if you do it your self you will always be able to see it. Thanks for the link though looks very intresting
Do you think theres anyway to disguise it ? -
On the alienware its all internal, so when its installed all you will see is the slot loading hole. (just a thin line on the side)

Here is one being installed on a m15x

April, 19 is the announcement day for other systems as well (M6600, M4600, Lenovo X-series). Seems quite possible.
