I don't think it's a speculation anymore.

Aww, "The page you are looking for cannot be found and may no longer be available."
Nonetheless, I'm happy to see new M14X info coming out.
I literally cannot wait! -

Greetings Arklight,
Unfortunately, this thread will most certainly be closed. I was recently informed that no matter how factual/official the information may be, it is considered "speculation" unless it's on the consumer site. This is rather discouraging, but all future posts will be forced to the speculation thread.
Thanks,
Gabe -

Whoa... why's it need a 150W AC Adapter? Won't that be kinda big, for a notebook with portability in mind?
Heck my Core 2 Quad and GTX 260M run on 120W. -
they can close this if they want, i was just excited to share information.

^LOL!
I can't wait for the M14x, exactly what I've been looking for.
I've been reading a bunch of pages in this thread, I have one question, Does anyone know whether it will it use GDDR5 or 3?
I couldn't find the answer, maybe I need to read more? Either way. it'll be sweet! -
It's using plain old DDR3, without the G.
-
Just spent a good hour reading through these threads in order to catch up on new model info and I must say ...I'm VERY excited since it's finally been confirmed (the Dell website screenshots; alienware manuals, etc.).
I'm 100% sure I'll be getting either the M11 R3 or the M14 (leaning towards the M14). It all depends which is released this month. Whatever is released this month will get my business.
About 6-7 posters have thrown the April 21st-ish date around as well as other websites, so I'm confident we will see either one or both of these models this month. The M18X seems to be a while away due to the lack of discussion and info.
12 days left until the speculative release! I'll be placing my order on the last week of this month. -
-
Are we sure it's using DDR3? It lists both 1.5 and 3.0GB in the spec sheet.
Also, anyone care to speculate on the battery life of this thing. That'll pretty much be the deciding factor for me, between the M11x-R3 and M14x. I don't really need gaming so much, I'm more thinking web browsing, note taking, and programmming sort of thing, pretty low usage.
The main factor there I'd think is the LCD. The processors are the 45W ones, versus the 11's 17W procs, but I'm hoping that idling they use similar amounts, so assuming the GPU is off, the only thing different is the screen, really.
Pitty they couldn't get rid of the damn optical drive and stick a 555/560, and a bigger battery in there.
The M14x looks to be a very nice machine though. Here's hoping it gets around the 4-5 hour mark with basic use. -
*prays the April 21st speculation date is a reality* -
If they can make the M17X-R3 push over 5.5hrs, the M11/14 will have no problem passing that. -
-
I doubt the M14x will go over 5 hours on optimus due to the low 63Wh battery.

As much as I hate to say it, I have a feeling that the M14x will be unveiled along with the M18x at E3 in a few months. Alienware has a booth reserved.. If I was a betting man i'd say that M11x r3 comes out before the end of the month and other 2 at E3.
Dangit dell!!!!!! Release the M14x i'm dieing!!! lol Im probably going to end up buying something else if its not till June. I cant take the wait.

m11x r3 and m14x will be available really soon...
We have both manuals, and a lot of real pictures of m14x...
I guess in 2 weeks they will be selling around the world... -
Just for fun... it seems as if the M11x R3 website is ready to go....
There is nothing on the website yet though

Forgive me for not reading through the entire page (still at page 67). But I was looking and noticed the 1.5GB 555m specs...that would lead one to believe it's GDDR5 because the two versions of the card are 1.5GB and 3GB, 3GB being the DDR3 version. If the GDDR5 is true then the m14x will be a very nice performer, especially with a small overclock. Should rock that 1600x900 screen.
As I said I have not read the entire thread so I am unsure if this has been posted before, but praying!
EDIT: Yes I realize 1.5GB technically is a 192bit bus, but look at the GTX 550 TI, 1GB on a 192 bit bus, Nvidia does strange things. -

The fact that it still shows RETOUCH notes shows this, this is a prototype document based on previous versions which isn't completely done yet.
Of course this could also mean that they could remove the new alienware completely, since it is a prototype the current version is an assumption that the new versions of the laptops coming out in April... While Dell might change that based on other factors (release it later). -

Wahhhhh i can't believe my country doesn't have the new model m18x.
Previously m17x also doesn't have solid state drive as hard disk option.
is this shyt man
And dell doesn't do shipping. Meaning whatever is available in US might not be available in my country. HELL! Can't they ship from their own company in US to their own company in other countries?
Now i have to reconsider which brand of lappy to get already. -
Unless I missed a major announcement in the last 5 mins no country has the M18x as yet
The fact that Dell restricts options in some countries ( and their price variations) is rather harsh though. Ofc in many cases calling a rep can get options that aren't on your country's site added to your order ( e.g the 6970 card in Canada etc) -
Since it's the 192bit version, we know it has DDR3. -
-
question...does the current m11x r2 have the true life screen or is the r3 m11x screen an upgrade?

Excellent Review and Benchmark of the Nvida 540m
NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M - Notebookcheck.net Tech -
Here's the thing I don't understand... Everyone is eating up the whole GDDR 3 vs. 5 thing about the 555m, but if you look at the nvidia site, there are VAST differences in the GPUs, and personally, I don't know enough about the nuts and bolts of a GPU to know which one is better for games...
GDDR3 = 144 CUDA cores, 192-bit memory bus
GDDR5 = 96 CUDA cores, 128-bit memorg bus
I know nVidia GPUs are much more sensitive to memory bandwidth than ATI cards, but one would think 144 cores would be better than 96, and the theoretical memory bandwidth is not that far off for each version.
So I guess it boils down to which one performs better, more cores but slower memory, or less cores, faster memory... -
also is it me or the m18x looks just like a system still made wit an aluminium chassis -

How much do you think a fully-configured M14x will cost?

In this video of the MSI GT780R, it shows 144 cores, with 128-bit GDDR5. Put it on 720p, and pause at :22.
MSI chose the ultimate version. -
Blu-ray unit,8GB RAM, and HDD of 750GB(not Solid)... -
What do you think of my configuration? Is there anything else I should change?
