The 14x will be 1.49 inches thick. They couldn't slim it to just under an inch?![]()

I rather get a better cooling system so i can overclock safely. -
The rest of your post was spot on though. -
-
I'm sold already on the m14x already...
Klipsch speakers! Finally some decent sound out of the m-series. -
This is gonna be sweet.
-
If you think of the M14x as a more powerful M11x with a larger screen, it makes more sense than a smaller M15x that's also significantly weaker.
In all seriousness, I wish they offered a 'smart bay' option, like they had on the old area-51 m15x. The ability to hot-swap a CD drive with an additional battery or hard drive would be perfect on a laptop like this.
As said above I was also referring to some extent to laptops in general and how there are a multitude of MXM slots and card sizes.
-
Anyone got dimensions for the m14x? I can't access the service manual at work
-
Just because we didn't find it, it doesn't mean that it does not exist. I am relatively certain (meaning I know but can't prove it) that when the M18X icon appeared on the Dell support page a long time ago there was a manual there too, I just got sloppy back then and everything got removed before I got my hands on it.

is there any pictures of the m11x r3 ?
-
Comparison of m15x to m14x
(HWD)
m15x = 1.92" x 14.80" x 12.20"
m14x = 1.49" x 13.27" x 10.17" -
-
Anyone know how heavy the M14x is yet, or is that not in the manuals?
-
Height
Front
37.80 mm (1.49 inches)
Back
37.80 mm (1.49 inches)
Width
337.00 mm (13.27 inches)
Depth
258.34 mm (10.17 inches)
Weight with 8-cell battery and optical drive (starting at)
2.88 kg (6.35 lb)
NOTE: The weight of your laptop will vary depending on the configuration ordered and the manufacturing variability. -
m11x r3 will look like this with a Sandy Bridge sticker...
:XD -
Edit: Works with firefox, not with chrome, no idea about IE -
yeah same for me, i have to right click them and open image url

It was also rumored that the palmrest and touchpad is different (I might be wrong though). According to that dell interview that was posted in this thread it would appear that the palmrest assembly has a soft touch finish similar to the exterior and also the touch pad is made from that material too.
You can't see this on the SM images because the SM images of the M11xR3 are actually the ones from the R2 (same files). -
2.88kg just shows that this really is closer to the M11x than M15x. The M15x was, what, closer to 4.5kg? (something in that sort of area) This is a truly portable machine. Hopefully the battery life will match up too (which it should, with help from Optimus). -

Hey guys,
On the Dell Canada website, here is a following screenshot showing that the new Alienware models M14x and M18x have been some what integrated into the web marketing page. I was also just chatting to a Dell Sales representative using their product support chat and I sent him the link that shows the new models and now he is contacting the marketing department.

Yeah, I see that right now. Im guessing the release is real soon?
-
For a second I thought they were talking about the m14x and I got excited...
Insanity took over... -
No 485m for the M18x? I hope those specs aren't completely right or haven't been completed.
-
Well, that looks promising.
-
10 more days ...of being glued to this thread until the speculative release date
-
-
I'm going to assume now that there's some larger reason Dell isn't using the 485M in their laptops (yet). It doesn't make any sense for them to offer a 6970 and only a 460, especially in the M17x-R3, a 3D gaming notebook.

Look here:
M18x Configuration Page Canada
The Dell Online Store: Build Your System

When you try a config with the dual ATis it gives a error saying that the 240W adapter isn't compatible with Video cards
-
"Alienware M18x, Soft Touch Stealth Black - Anodized"
What exactly does that mean? I didn't know there was soft touch anodized aluminum... -
-
-
Verrry promising. I thin they'll probobly put up the M14x, followed by M11x r3, if they do that at the same time. I wonder why they're doing Canada first?
-
-
I really hope not. I was hoping for a brushed aluminium shell. Looks so much nicer than rubber.
LOL @ power adapter error. -
If they're going to go with aluminum, they should go all the way with brushed aluminum. They will just be ruining it with a rubber coating.
-
-
10 days for m11x r3, m14x r1 and m18x r1....
If we assume April 21st... -
Backpack for m18 as well:

Hoping for a early release. -
i think they are just adjusting their marketing for the m18x -
-
Same with the M14x.
