And same with the M11x R3
-
Awesomee. I think this means they may be up tomorrow, or by friday.
-
There is NO way you go from 1 460 to 2 6970s for under 200 bucks. My guess is around 500 minimum. The card itself is expensive; two of them....there are pricing issues right now. No way a flagship goes for 2200 with sb, and CF 6970s...
-
SB is known to be less expensive than first gen, and AMD GPU's must be cheaper.
-
Also getting that. Why did they publish it first on the dell canada site?
-
Wondered that too. America is most likely the largest market.
-
And thats where they started and established. Huh.

Honestly, I don't see the point of the m14x. Don't get me wrong, I think that 14'' in the perfect notebook size. But at that size and weight it is bigger and heavier than a lot of 15.6'' notebooks. If/when the Envy 14 gets a Sandy Bridge refresh, assuming it also gets an ATI 6750 or better like more expect, I see no reason to go with the m14x. Even the XPS 15 is basically the same weight.
-
Wow. The speculating stuffs are true afterall!
-
Not to be a downer here but I talked to a rep over the phone and he said they start getting training on a new product a few months before it's launched and they haven't heard anything yet on the M14 or 18x
-
Still not a believer?
Its on dell canada site already.
-
The rep I had 2 weeks said that thay are in training.
-
I don't think reps really know anything at all. Hoping for a release tomorrow I mean it appears that the sites are being updated.
-
Do I go for the m14x maxed out? Or what other laptops should I be looking at?
-

I think most customer service reps don't know anything and the ones who do know not to give out tons of information.
-
Exactly. Oh well. Leak websites know more. As for specs, I'm thinking, for the M14x, the Cheapest i5, 4GB RAM, and the 900p screen. If there is any posibility of an extended battery, go for it.
-
Yeah your probably right. Even if they knew it was releasing in a day they would try to sell you an old model today. That's what that rep tried to do after denying a M14x was releasing soon.
I wish it would, I have $1,600 just sittin here -
Ditto. I want that thing.
-
Because people that have had a few alienwares know that they weigh a bit more but it's from the superior cooling they have so you can overclock them with no problems. Also, the M15x weighs nearly 10lbs this weighs 6.3lbs
-
What material did they use on the m14x?
-
I gotta stop checking this thread every 15min and do my homework LOL
-
Same as your 17x r-3
-
Grrrr.....the Canadian Dell/Alienware site has placeholders for the m14x and m18x...little puzzle shaped icons where the laptop images should be, right there below the 11x, 15x and 17x on the main Alienware page. Teasing me, taunting me.
Oh Dell, you saucy tart of a tease! Release them already so that I can release my credit card number to you! -
WOOHOO!
It's most likely going to cost us 100$ more too, just like the M17X-R3, even though our dollar is pwning the USD by 5 cents. I bet they're also going to charge 50$ more for the screen upgrades compared to the US site.
For those lucky enough to live by the border, we could always use CBI USA (if near Niagara Falls) like I did for my M11X, which worked out most excellent (saved 300$+). -
well i was able to order one already
JK....., maybe it will get canceled. y'all know this means something......i suspect it should be up for sale in less than a week or so...
-
You would think they would put in a better graphics card than that
-
ROFL! That's awesome, blasterbeam210! That's good news that everything is going to be ready and working VERY soon for the other units.
-
The m11x r3 is out by 19th - earlier than the others
-
Right as you do someone will post.. " M14x released!! Ship date 4/15/2011!"
-
what specs? -
M14x released!! Ship date 4/15/2011!
**not really, but i'm hoping soon -
I says "JK" on the bottom, i didn't ordered it since it will most likely be canceled.
-
Both are up on the Canadian site as well (M14 and M18):
Alienware Laptops - Custom Gaming Laptops and Notebooks | Dell Canada
They're editing the info as we speak. Looks like they're touching up on the M18 and then moving to the M14 info. -
I want a m14x bad, or even the m11x r3 would be good, but the mark up between the US and Oz markets is ridiculous!! An m11x i7 r2 costs 1800 AUD opposed to the 999 US, and our dollars are almost the same... gawsh it's annoying! Here's hoping the next batch reflects the economic climate a bit better...
Voodooi, I've got an assignment due tomorrow which I haven't even started, and I'm doing exactly the same as you... all because of new Alienware models!!! -
I don't know, but im able to customize the m18x and even go to the checkout screen
-
Same thing here, I configured an m11x R2 on the Swiss website of Alienware (with i7 and 8 GB of RAM) and it came out to be almost exactly 2x as expensive as on the US website.
For that price, it's worth taking a vacation in the US for a week or two and buy the laptop while you're there.
-
Was just thinking that myself, got relatives in the US. Pop over for a visit and pick one up... only issue I see is the warranty... -
I managed to buy mine in the US and used the international warranty transfer form online to move it to Canada. Since then, my M11X required repair once and it worked out great. I found that the reps will lie to you and claim you need 3 year warranty for world wide coverage.
-
Yes, the warranty-thing is something one should definitely be aware of.
You gotta decide if the savings are worth not having a warranty. -
Nice. Do you have a link to that form or can you guide us to where you found it?
-
Well, we know that 3 year warranty definitely covers you anywhere in the world since that's what the reps claim, however it's odd that my 1 year warranty works internationally as well as my friend's, who moved from Canada to Asia and they fixed his over there.
-
Dell - International Ownership Transfer Form
If my memory serves me right.
It may be different in Europe, where you're forced to buy the 3-year warranty to have global coverage, however that's not the case over here (at least for me and my friend).
-
Second that question about where you found the form.
And works definitely with a 3 year warranty? Interesting... might give it a look!
You know you're obsessed when you're thinking of taking a trip to the US just get an Alienware laptop... -
Alot of reps I had asked claimed you need 3 year warranty for your AW to be covered anywhere in the world, but when I spent a couple hours googling, I discovered that plenty of people with the 1 year warranty got serviced in other countries, so when I purchased my M11X from the US with the 1 year and opted for service in Canada, it worked
So this leads to several conclusions:
- Reps are lying to make a profit % from the warranty sales
- International warranty coverage with 1 yr works under an umbrella of specific countries
- They don't care or check when you do a warranty claim in a different country
etc.
-
Yeah, sounds promising, just wonder how much that had to do with geographical location.
Hell, it's all just speculation at the moment, I won't know if I'll be able to even afford one until we get prices, even then it's a stretch. -
Hey i've tried this already and you need a US credit card
-
That would throw a spanner in the works...
But where there is a will, there is a way!!
-
Make a US Paypal and use a family/friends info in the address details.
Remember, they accept paypal too. This way, paypal will be the middle man.
If there's any conflicting issues with the credit card address (while using the US paypal), call the CC company, change your address, order the AW, re-change your address. -
Too true, too true
