That would be a huge surprise if true. There are no 18.4" RGB LED screens on the market at the moment, AFAIK.

I saw that for 2 or 3 days now, on the US Alienware site, the m11x i7 cannot be ordered with 8 GB of RAM any more. It only gives me the option of 4 GB, 8 GB are not available.
And the price is still the same that it was a couple of days ago, when 8 GB were available (so you're now paying the same for less). -
Wow that 14in Could be REALLY interesting. I hope it has at least 1600x900 resolution.
-
wonder if anyone seen this site?
Welcome to PTCRB
type in "alienware" and you'll get the results from the screenshot i attached.

Interesting find, doesn't mean confirmed but hey, keeps pointing us in that direction.
-
Not bad for a first post. Welcome.
-
Dunno about the rest of the weekend but you can get a M17x-R3 with 8gb RAM now. Everything's available as usual.
-
Heres to hoping AW go bankrupt shortly after I buy a new laptop (which is gonna be a loooong time...)because I can't stand the feeling of greed that compels me to read up on newer, faster, shinier things that I can't afford!
:'(
That said, it is fascinating and somewhat exciting. -
Hey, noticed now the i5 option for the M11x R2 has disappeared too for the Australian store in the last probably 2 or 3 days. The i3 option disappeared about a week and a half ago (Not knowing about this thread I did post a new thread about it, only got raged at in return
). You can only get the i7 now.
Anyway yeah. Another sign of clearing stock before R3 arrival? Let's hope so
(Btw, thanks whoever rep'd me
, how can I find out who?)

Same here in the USA with 4GB only and i7 only...
You can go to your profile page and click Reputation I think it's called, shows where you got rep. -
Let's hope this doesn't come to pass.
-
I was talking about the m11x, not the m17x.
I just double-checked, the 8 GB option for the m11x i7 is still gone. -
Oh cool, let's hope it means something
I found a place in options where I have a 'display rep level' check-box, and above it it says I have 0 rep, but over there <-- it says I have 1. Weird lol

Only thing missing is the m18x Mandrake lol
-
Ah.
Oops! -
that is not ture information. at the last sentence he said those thing is only his idea about 18x. no much reliable information.
-
Maybe I am missing something but looking at the Acer 3820T according to a review is getting a whopping 3717 3dmark06... compared to a current R1 M11x batting about 6800 (at a higher res to boot) ... I don't think there is much more to be said there on why no one knows about the Acer.
-
Erig G. posted some info about the M14x on is site, see here: Alienware M14X - Powerful, yet portable - Dell News and more
1080p option (nice
), LTE, WiMax, up to 2820qm. No word about the GPU so far.
We will see... -
What do you think some realistic weights of the M11x will be?
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
Probably around 4.5-5 lb like it is now.....
-
I'm surprised they'd go for a 1080p, but then it's "full HD"... wish it had an RGB LED option.
-
What are the chances Alienware will be coming out with the new M14x this year???
-
this year for sure but actual date is a mystery.
-
I really do hope so
-
Alienware vice president mentioned a new line up coming up "in very short order". I don't think they will wait to the end of the year to release Sandy Bridge models. Hoping for April.
-
Sorry I meant the weight of the m14x LOL! I got excited when someone said 4-5 pounds and then I realized that I wrote the wrong number...
-
I plan on selling my HP DM1z when the m11xr3 comes out, I originally purchased the m11xr1 last year, but I canceled the order when I read up about the hinge issues, but since they are replacing the hinges now with a new design it looks like they are close to releasing the R3.
-
Looks like the M11x will still have the GT 335M. Hmmm.
Dell intorduced new Alienware M11x R3 Gaming notebook with Intel’s Sandy Bridge processors | Tech World -
Thats soo dud if that info is true.
-
cant see that being true.... Why would they be the only ones to get the information if what they say is true that.. "Dell has introduced the latest version of it's much popular Alienware M11x"
Because that seems to suggest they have openly told everyone about it yet only this website has the information... pfft
keeping the same graphics card in a laptop for many years would be stupid as well especially for Alienware which are ment to be built for gaming -
I call BS, no way it still has a 3xx series GPU.
-
If that's true, I won't get the R3
-
You think there will be room for an optical drive in a 14x?
-
aparently there is one......
But it would be a massive put off for me though... and i might not buy it just for that reason....
the future is downloads, and if u need to play disk get an external
cd drives will look really crap in a few year i think -
Is the picture on this website reliable??
Alienware M14X Review – The 14 Inch Portable Gaming Laptop -
I would say no, because they claim that you can have 1-4GB of DDR3 memory.... uhhhh the M11x can go up to 8GB. Why would this one only go up to 4?
I call bs. -
RGBLED would just be the icing on the cake. Because there isn't such a panel on the market I won't hold my breath, but I can pray nonetheless.
Probably another month to wait, but hopefully that passes quickly. Would be fun to take my 3rd run through DA2 on a M18x in DX11. -
Regarding the optical drive: I saw the pics before they were taken down. The diagram did not show an optical drive but the specs said 6.5 lb with optical drive. Why did they word it that way? It didn't say 6.5 lbs with optical drive and 8 cell battery. This makes me think.
I hope they meant 6.5 lbs with an EXTERNAL optical drive. More room for the GPU and cooling. -
They are saying it can use 1 to 4 GB sticks of DDR3 memory, thus 2 x 4 GB = 8
-
I have a crappy pic of the M14x Optical drive:
-
where did you get that? and is there more where it came from?
-
There were alot more official documents and spec sheets for the m14x. I saw them. They were removed by the person who posted them about two weeks ago.
-
It's speculated. For starters, in the link, they state "Dell Announces..." while Dell hasn't announced the product in question, and the processors are the same as with previous rumors. I wouldn't take the info as fact at all.
I'll be interested as soon as Alienware can figure out how to put a 2.0 GHz processor alongside a DX 11 capable GPU that consistently outperforms the current 335m that's in the R1/R2, all in a soft-touch Nebula Red shell. Otherwise, it's another upgrade I'll pass on. I hope the fact that the M11x is the only ultraportable gaming rig out there doesn't make them lazy to upgrade it. -
Alienware VP interview thingy (don't have a link but there is a tread on it in the Alienware boards): The VP said something along the lines of "we have put a 35W GPU in an 11.6 inch laptop.." (was on the second page I think...).
Isn't the 335m LESS THAN 35W? If so, there is your answer... -
Well, I did some digging, the 335m, 435m, and the 540m ALL use 35W...
I doubt they will continue with the 335m, it really doesn't make a whole lot of sense... -
If there's two - let alone one - generations of cards ahead of the 335M, I find it very unlikely that they'll use it. I also don't think there'll be an optical drive in the M11x. There's only so small they can make those things, and I think there physically just won't be enough room for it.
The M14x may/may not have one though. At the moment I'm torn. The M14x sounds to be a nicer size for me than the M11x, but if it uses the same battery, with a similar GPU, and more powerful processors, as well as the bigger screen, it's battery life won't be fantastic. -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
If you do not want an ODD in the M14x, just remove it and put a hard drive tray in there. They are Slot Load now so very discrete on the outside of the notebook, you would never even know it was removed.
-
could this be something ?
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
All the pieces do seem to fit as far as specs. The adapter is up to 85W now though.....that is not comforting for battery life....it is a dam 11" lol. The R1 I have came with a 65W adapter
-
The R2 had a 90W if I recall correctly. You mean battery life when gaming? Because otherwise the battery life is probably better with Sandy Bridge. Maybe 6 hours standard usage, with Optimus.
