I dont really like the messenger bag from alienware looks to professional.
-
-
so get the backpack
-
I am looking for a messenger bag...
-
I've got an Orion for my M15x, haven't really had a chance to use it very much yet but I'm going to a pretty huge LAN party in August and I plan to load it up!
-
Can anyone post good quality images of the inside of the messenger bag? I want to see what the storage is like.
-
Im pretty sure someone posted some comparison pictures a few page back.
-
It's in the accessories section.
-
The superdry one looks ace especially this one:
Superdry Black on Black Laptop Bag
-
I dont see any in this thread.
-
Look the orion bag is just the best out there and I've had quite a few. Don't hesitate... You are talking about a bag not a car... No hesitation needed.
-
But it's kind of ugly (imo) and we don't wanna be TOO fanboyish
.
-
Looks great IMO, the flat panel makes it look really professional. Only fanboyism is the logos everywhere
-
That is the best bag... I am 31 and work in a very serious public company, I have a good position there with people under me and I have that bag, actually two of them...
Trust me it's not fanboyish not more than an executive wearing a porsche shirt on Fridays... -
Its not anymore fanboyish than wearing a sports jersey. And you think this its ugly? Im not one to judge but how often do you get a backpack protected by a blastoise shell, smooth high quality zippers, and orthopedic weight distribution for under 70?
I will take some picks of how will everything fits tomorrow (long day of roller coasters
)
-
ive had this bag for two years and love it.
i only read the first page, ha but im wondering why this thread was created.
do ppl think this bag is new? -
Quite a few people were asking about purchasing it. I just thought I would take the initiative to create a thread for thoughts and comments about it.
Seems to be working
-
ha yah it is working.
Good job!
i was just curious or maybe that i missed a slight upgrade or something. -
Omg, best description ever, I love it. Ok, I'm sold
.
-
Glad to hear it. I think I should take the pictures now...
-
Added the pictures.

Nice thread pal, I'll rep You for it. I have an orion backpack also and for me it's a great buy, really happy with it. In my country Alienware is not widely known so I don't have the fanboy issue since most don't have an idea of the brand so they just see a cool ( or not so cool, obviuosly everybody does'nt have to like it lol) bag with an alien head on it
Everything I need to fit in there fits just fine. I fill it with my M17x R1 a bunch of cables just in case (USB,eSata, firewire at least 2 of each with different connectors. Also the the alienware mousepad, an alienware tacx mouse and a wireless Microsoft mouse depending where and what I use it for. The power adapter. My iPhone charger cable. An alienware tacx headset and iPhone earphones. An external drive (MyPassport) an Xbox 360 wireless controller, an extra M17x battery.a couple of usb sticks, pencils and stuff. And maybe something else I forget ( a bag of chips and/or cookies) and everything fits perfectly well organized. Of course after filling it with all that stuff it gets pretty heavy but it's like having my office and my gaming gear always with me so it's not a big issue ( using my car, if I was using public transportation I guess I would get a backpain very often. I wanted to buy another orion bag for my wife's M15x but she thought it was too big and heavy for her. She says that even when empty you can feel it kinda heavy. But for me it's the perfect bag. No complaint at all.
-
Thanks for the rep, glad you like it. It's amazing how much can actually fit in here. I accidentally convinced my aunt to buy it after she felt how good the weight distribution on her back was. She's not a computer person at all so clearly Alienware did something right.
-
I'll +Rep this review as well, good effort putting it together.
Based on your review I'd have to say this seems to be one of the (if not the) best backpacks specifically designed laptops out there. I personally find it a little plain and ugly except for the nice shiny Alienware logo but it all comes down to personal preference. If I didn't have a dedicated laptop for work/travel and used an AW for work (do people actually do that?) I'd consider picking one up. -
Some find it ugly, some find it flashy. Man this thing is allover the place
-
I actually do that! Lol I mean use it for work. I have a dual xeon (Dell branded) and dual monitor for working ( I'm a 3d modeller/animator) but I also have my M17x at one side and when Rendering I use both. And everytime I have to work at home (pretty often) I take it with me. Of course I also use it as a gaming rig and watching blurays and stuff but I sure work with it very often.
-
Hey thanks for great review friend, i have one question friend, can this backup fir 2 M17x? I have M15x and i am thinking of putting alot of things into these. My cell phones, books and lot of other stuff's.
+1 rep -
Nice post, I wouldn't however store pens in the backpack. If they leak, well you know.
-
I think something was lost in translation and what you are trying to say is 'can this backpack hold 2 m17x's".
Yes it can, but one of them will have to be outside the protectice "ScanFast" case in the main pocket. -
Great review. +1 rep. I just bought mine from newegg a couple hours ago.
-
Why newegg and not Amazon? It's cheaper and you have a 30 day return policy...not that you'd want to return it.
-
I really like newegg, amazon is only $5 cheaper and charges shipping and tax (which will ad about $15 for me) and newegg doesn't; in the end it is cheaper for me to buy it from newegg.
-
Not if you have an Amazon Prime account
Having a dad that orders crap for his buisness daily has its benefits
-
Was about to order an Orion Alienware backpack through Dell but good to know its a lot cheaper elsewhere.
-
I want this...
-
Dead link for me.
-
Hrm works for me
Not sure how to fix that.
-
Just noticed that green embroidery around the protective face on either side of the Alienware logo... odd, my backpack doesn't show that at all, did it come like that?
Also, while the logo is easily scratched, except for deep knicks you can actually polish out most of them with just your finger so it's not as bad as it seems. From what someone told me the logo is some kind of stone that is easily shaped and polished but still pretty durable. -
Works now!
Odd. -
added them myself. They are Razer logo stickers
-
After reading through this post I decided to order the backpack for my m17x notebook. I had to order from Dell as Newegg or Amazon in Canada didn't have it.
I have my XPS backpack from my m1730 notebook but I find that the alienware doesn't fit in properly. -
I have both bags and the Alienware is really better. Just the way it opens to put the M17X inside is great.
On the other hand I do not agree. The XPS bag is perfectly fine though not as convenient. -
I wish I saw that before I bought my orion backpack, it is awesome. lol
@Bluekornchips
Off topic, but is the razer mamba mouse a great mouse and a great deal, and where is it the cheapest at? -
Just got my orion backpack... It is awesome.
-
Glad you like it. Stick all your gear inside and put it on your back and you'll like it even more
-
I just received mine today, I really like it. My m17x fits in it really nice, it has lots of room glad I bought it.
Thanks for the review. -
I normally don't go in for all the associated swag of an item, but in this case the backpack is so well designed and sharp looking that even before you take the laptop out it's got folks attention. Utility+style, it is definitely worth the money.
-
Trust me you don't want that aluminium case to travel with your M17X. It's going to be a pain carrying this on your shoulders or by hand at the airports. The orion backpack is amazing and makes the M17X almost weightless once on your back.
-
Yeah the weight difference between holding it in your arms and holding it on your back is amazing. It makes you stand straighter
-
As mentionde few pages back I have both the AW bag and backpack but with great sadness I must say that the bag jsut broke yesterday. Out of the blue, one of the zippers snapped out of place and because of the weight, it also broke on the sides (of the zipper). I will post some pics when I can.
Too bad as it was my meetings bag and I used to stuff like double the papers that I have in he backpack. Once I measured the bag and it had around 16Kg (with laptop, charger and other stuff inside).
The backpack is still safe, no harm done to it, but neither am I carying that much with it. -
You did get Complete Care on that bag right
Seriously, sorry to hear that.
