Now I am actually thinking that since it appears to be not just 1 new laptop, perhaps there they will announce the options to upgrade to 4870's for M17 users, along with other announcements, plus the new animal.

Hello
I think i know what it would be.
It will have a core i7 desktop prozessor and the nvidia gt280!
Here is a link to a brand
Code:http://www.deviltech.de/deviltech.php/sid/4e6e3acc010b6fe3fe70b183f77f954b/cl/details/cnid/8a142c3e4143562a5.46426637/anid/1804660038ecea171.97418563/Devil-8800-DTX/
-
Why do you think it's the same thing?
-
IMO, they better have more than just a single GTX280 to be able to live up to the "Allpowerful" title.
With a name like that I think it's more likely the rig will be the most powerful gaming rig to date. -
AW will be leader of the market, so if the competors upgrade to core i7, AW have to do also.
Deviltec make brands of AW models in the past. -
It looks like the Clevo.
-
-
Yeah it looks like the Clevo. Deviltech appears to be a re-brander, not a manufacturer. Nice looking stuff though.
-
I wouldn't mind the desktop i7 in a 17" form factor. I don't buy these for battery life.
-
Well, I hope we are waiting for something unique, and not a rebrand or else, it would be a big disappointment.
-
it needs to have dual cards or it just wont be that bigger deal really
perhaps they will annouce the 4870 upgrade at the same time?
what about possible cpu updates from the qx9300? or with i7 on the way is the qx9300 the last in the line -
An Nvidia SLI solution would be better for those that can't afford a very fast processor.
As we all know by now, both the 3870's and the 4870's are very CPU dependent. -
It seems relatively likely that the new laptops will have Nvidia cards, as the XPS systems use them for the most part, and this is basically the first joint venture since Dell bought AW (I think?). As for the 4870s upgrade option, it's unlikely that they will do anything to take away from their NEW (and more expensive, $$$) products. They'll probably tease you just enough to buy one of the new ones then market the 4870s upgrade for M17s etc the week after you buy it.
My bet is it will NOT be bigger than 17". They know how bulky their laptops are already, and many people consider that feature a major con. They know better than to slap those people in the face with an even heavier monster.
I'm only hoping that they don't market any or all of the new laptops as super-duper extreme crazy gaming laptops because I have a feeling I'll want one regardless, and I'm not an insane gamer. The specs of the current computers are indeed gaming specs, but they're customizable in a way that you can configure a more all-around, general high performance laptop and still get the AW look.
Ballpark estimate, I'd say the base model(s) will probably start around $2k, hopefully no more.
EDIT: I think it's kinda funny that the M17 tab on alienware.com still has the *New* symbol next to it.. lol -
I really cant wait for the new laptop. I want to replace my overheating m5750 with a new sick rig
!
-
Only thing I can predict is that this will be a very long thread...
-
Sorry for double post but here you go fellas
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?p=4845084#post4845084
wait is over (most likely) -
i got my M17 at the beginning of feb.
and now new laptop ...... I WANT IT. hmm
if The new AW is i7 and 4870 . i will plan to get one later this year -
-
-
There better not be a dell insignia on it....
-
I think that one will keep the Alien, they'd be foolish to get rid of it.
Skullcap? Maybe eventually, though usually not at first? I haven't seen the back. -
phew, because the dell insignia would be a bummer.....
-
Having read the post from Gophn about the rumored (or not) features of the 'new' laptop, I only have one question. Does that mean it'll be worth buying or should I just get the M17 like I was planning?
I'm not extremely knowledgeable regarding computer stuff, and the comments he made basically made me go 'huh?' So if anyone could enlighten me, in english, as to the comparison between the two (the new one and the M17), I'd appreciate it. -
just wait man...
if it is something that u dont like than u buy the m17 -
-

Omg I can't stand this anymore this is getting annoying... Gophn is in touch with some rep from Alienware and he found out what the new Alienware is going to be... It is on the other post that Chaz put up... It is going to be based on the current M17x chassis so a 17", with a new montevina setup and Motherboard which will allow for the latest GPU's at this point Dual GPU's are expected... Meaning Alienware will have the best 17" laptop, but will probably fall in with the M980NU and the ASUS W90
-
as far as gaming systems go, any notebook with dual Nvidia GTX 280M or dual ATI HD 4870 will be on the top.
the Clevo D900F would be the top if you are referring to the fastest notebook in terms of processing and rendering.... since it has Core i7. -
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
That's what Ima going to do, I can't wait
-
lmao i told yall in my thread and no body blieved me
i was the on talking to Gophn
-
well...interesting...ok..19 days to go to see price
but awesome..m17x is looking IMO
hopefully specs are as "allpowerful" as advertised
gophn any idea of starting price? 2kish? -
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
Yes Respect the Moo no pun intended
-
-
I have not put the idea of a M15x "refresh" past me yet either.
... just need to get some confirmations. -
i am expecthing a refresh but a redesign as well
-
I hope its not silver, and that its stealth black, because stealth black is probably the best color ever.
-
like i said before 2000 for base price proably
-
-
Like the matte, because thats what they used for the m17, and it was pretty dirt free from what I read
!
-
well like i said in my other thread the source code said multiple desktops n laptops
so were gonna see some serious POO
the matte finish is awsome -
I just want it to have skullcap, stealth black, matte, and NO dell insignia's, and powerful components, and I will be happy
!
-
your proably not going to be a very happy man then
-
what, theres gonna be dell insignias and no skull cap?
-
i highly doubt the way dell is going there is gonna be no dell insignia .....
-
What happened too letting alienware keep its own look? i like the alienhead, and plus the teaser site was very alienwarish
!
-
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
Alienware is keeping it's independence, however Im guessing with the Economy and a loss in sales Dell is taking some measures which is a good thing... I mean Dell did buy Alienware it's reasonable to think they'll do some oversight
-
Thats good, because if i want a dell insignia, ill buy a dell lol
-
-
so ...... dell is merging with AW the new one i think will resemble the future of dell/AW gaming 19 days 19 days
-
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
Well I'm not buying my Sager 9280 till July so we'll see what Alienware has to offer, we'll see
-
the specs up there are whats in it .... so why wait ....
why are you getting an i7 it will be almost useless in gaming ...its a high end codieng machine not a gaming machine. Thats why they made the m98 for the gaming side and the m9860 for work
