dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
sneakyfspy post 402
-
oh right lol.
People say that looks like the back of the notebook, but there are no ports. So Im assuming that is the front as well. Pretty neat how they did that tho. -
of course all of this hype assumes that is the real notebook. Unless I see the physical laptop, then it can be photoshopped in a good half hours time. Unless it exists for the public then I will remain skeptical. If it indeed does look like this, they guy that posted will have enough credentials that i may believe him from now on. Do you want me to also make a wallpaper of a new (albeit completely made up) "alienware?" Give me until I get off work and i can make up one of my own too. I'm sure i can make use some of the sketches i've used for industrial design.
-
Geez they posted Quicklite's photo-shopped keyboard pic too. Some people aren't going to be clear on Engadget's "fanart" comment and believe that it's legit.
-
he he if you believe thats a real pic...then you prolly wear glasses like andy dik in employee of the month lol
-
Lol, its just randomly generated content, that probably isn't even remotely like the actual system.
probably should have made that more clear...
The pic was basically complied by Logitech G19+ Alienware logo+ M15x buttons. -
lol i think its quite funny

June 2nd is the day E3 begins, and it looks like Dell and Alienware are planning to announce something at E3, which seems to be this laptop. I really hope that the countdown is not just to countdown to an announcement of the new laptop at E3, and they also plan to actually release it that day as well. That would be annoying if the countdown was only for the announcement.
-
yeah i would be pissed off
-
Now that you mention it, how important are the looks? Since I'm more interested in it's capability/features, i.e. speed, storage capacity, battery life, etc., as far as I'm concerned, the change in looks would be superfluous.
-
Well, having both won't kill, would it? I guess that's where alienware comes in.
-
I'm with you 000022,
I love the style of A.W. laptops and the great performance too!
-
Again, I hope they keep a similar design to the m15x/m17x- That visual style was the best thing Alienware had come up with in quite a while.
-
Alienware is about the looks and the specs...I can't wait! C'mon who's gonna leak some real details!!!???
-
I hope Alienware will be able to keep up with the demand on their new rigs!
-
When supply is low and demand is high you know what happens to price don't ya?.
-
Yup,
We already know the initial price is going to be at a premium. It always is with a new high end rig. Once it has been out a while and newer models are on the horizon, prices will come down.
I'll still be able to drool at least.
-
Well it sounds like its going to be actually released at the end of the countdown from what you guys are saying, and that is good. I am going to max out the cpu, gpu, and RAM on this. Im getting 1900x1200 resolution, along with the lighted keyboard and what ever lighted options I can get. It looks like its going to be AlienFX instead of just a lighted keyboard though, so I will probably get AlienFX. I cant wait for the countdown to be over, I really want to order this.
-
Get ready to drop like 6 g's.
-
Yeah Morgotth,
Looking at the released "photo" I'd say it's a safe bet there will be lighting FX and not just the keyboard. Thankfully, it also doesn't look like it's going to be a refresh of the 17X or a face lift of a Dell.
With A.W. maketing the whole "All Powerful" thing, it seems likely that it will have ethier SLI or Xfire.
Xtreme and Quad support should be there as well.
IMO, we will see the most capable and technologically advanced laptop ever offered by Alienware. Not really a stretch considering we're talking about the newest line-up.
-Gotta pay to play if you want the newest tech! -
SLI seems most likely, 280m GTX SLI 4tw
!
-
If it were my decision, that's what I'd put in it.
-
well we'd all love to see the 280m, a core i7, four HDD bays, a 12cell battery, etc etc...
-
Four hard drive bays?
Man, you are a serious multitasker!
-
forget 4 hard drive bays....i want four gpu's...quad sli ftw!!! i can imagine it now.....it would be a desktop with a monitor attached to it
-
The thing could be plated in gold I wouldn't spend that much. I never understand why people do spend that much on a system that will go down in value immediately. Even $3K is hard to stomach.
-
Go with Raid 5.
-
Laptops aren't the only thing. So do cars, boats, bikes, wives......woops, did I say that out loud!
-
I think you're way over exaggerating here. Remember, the whole purpose the M17 was to introduced AW to a more mainstream group. Why would AW then reverse that to go back in the opposite direction?
Besides, nowadays other notebook brands are marketing gaming rigs that can compete on many levels for a lot less. So unless you're speaking specifically of diehard AW fans, at that price, they won't be getting a lot of new business.I couldn't agree more. I think $3k is around the point of diminishing return. Besides, making these thing faster and more powerful becomes cheaper with each new generation. So until battery life can catch up, the $6g laptop may be a thing of the past.In relative terms, that's already the case. Quad-core is the future, so at this point at least, that much should be a given. -
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
No lol he said 4 GPU's as in Graphic Cards; Quad SLI lol, he was joking
-
I want an OLED screen \o/
-
Still not practical yet. However, LED's should also be a given. If this new lappy tappy doesn't have these, AW is dragging it's feet.
-
12 days left....
-
I was refering to the guy that wanted to get the new rig with everything top of the line. I can do that with an m17 now and its like 5400, so 6000 for top of the line is very real.
-
Actually,
An M17 maxed out with the QX9300, twin 256Gb SSD's in raid, Wuxga, blue ray, 4 Gigs ram (8Gb is just silly) abgn w/mimo, and a three year warranty thrown in for good measure comes to $4848.
Yup I too think the new one maxed out will reach $6000 no problem. I also think you'll be able to build one of the new rigs for maybe $3000 and still be able to kick butt.
-
Just going off what he said.
-
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
It just seems ridiculous when you can pick up a Sager 8662, NP5797, or an 9280 all maxed for just around $3000... If I am to pick up an alienware I want
1. Very good Quad, or I7
2. At least one high end GPU... IE GTX 280m or 4870 with DDR5
3. at least 500gb, 7200 rpm hard, Raid 0.... 4gb DDR3
4. Blu-ray
5. Built in Video camera and Mic
6. Decent built in speakers
All for under $4000 -
Holy crap man!
500gb memory? I'm pretty sure you'll be able to disable your pag file with that much memory! lol
BTW, I think you're gonna be able to get all that for under $4000 but you might have to get a little less memory.

MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
Edited lol
-
Ha ha, I snagged it before you could edit.
Cool avatar btw. -
You never heard about micro stuttering don't you?
-
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
Thanks rob, Let me know If I can make an avatar for you (granted not just alienware lol), I love working with photoshop so it would be my pleasure
-
Cool man, I appreciate it and I'll keep that in mind.
-
I reckon this laptop will probaby be able to hold nvidia and ATI GPUs like the m15x.
