Hi, I believe as per our last email I would send you the name plate after the system ships. We cannot change the name plate right now because we would need to cancel the order and re-order it. Once we have your service tag, we will send you the name plate that can be either installed by one of our techs or you can install it by only removing the back cover, 2 screws and your done. ;-)

wich sucks because since my problems with my 460s it cost me to get them replaced wich could have been done for nothing since i was still in warrenty and i was told that the 460s were not in stock any more.. and my options laid out for me were a used set of 460s aka refurbished(wich is a joke) since i paid a lot for the system.. or paying money and getting the 6990s and the extended warranty.. so would that be my option again? pay more money.. for the new cards and warranty and send these back with no credit for them?
as is what happened with my 460s? I should of at least got credit for those.. -
I sent my request in on the 25th and the last I heard from Allan was the 27th. I still haven't got a quote yet, so I e-mailed yesterday with everything I could think to put in the e-mail (I did update the specs yesterday). I have the model I want in my cart with everything filled out. Name, Address, Phone Number, E-mail associated with Dell account all included with a copy paste of the main specs. E-mail is titled "Alienware M17x Inquiry" if it helps
Anything I can do just let me know, excited to get that order in at the end of this week hopefully.

So, logically thinking, Dell wouldnt go "backwards" to the PM810 drives.....I would imagine that new systems ordered with SSD's would come with the 830's..... -
I was one of those who ordered the M14x R2 that was shipped with a PM810 Sata II ssd. Bill quickly got on this problem yesterday, I'm now holding off to see what dell can do to rectify this problem also discussed on the speculation thread that was closed.

My system is down for the next couple hours. Its being worked on.
If it has passed 3 business days since you sent your Quote Request, please re-send it. I have my inbox set up to bunch by name and date received. I could have checked your previous mail as done by mistake and that would explain such big delay.
I am trying to reply within the first 12 business hours from received. Working on setting up a team to bring that wait time down to same day response.

That's the official company statement. The numbers are so low, there's no need to get worked up. Just wait until yours arrives. If you ordered an SSD, it should be a SATA3 model. It doesn't necessarily have to be from Samsung, but that's one of the drives we qualified for the system, and the one that seems to be shipping for now. If you did not receive SATA3, and you ordered one, then the above message is for you.
The process is obviously fluid at this point, as you see Allan struggling to keep up with demand while trying to implement a plan that scales to the number of requests at the same time. We frankly had no idea it would be this popular. So, bear with us as we go through some growing pains. I imagine the EMEA team will want to get a thorough round up of pain points and best practices from us before they launch anything, so it may take just a bit longer.
Think of this thread as a pilot program for other regions. It may work out and spread to the regions, or it may just be US and Canada only. Ultimately it's up to the regions to decide, but we're doing our best to point out the value and the positive reception from the community. -

In a bizarre coincidence though, Dell UK just emailed me a 10% off coupon for Alienware orders over £799. This seems pretty good, although I don't think I can apply it to the 3yr extended warranty + accidental cover which is a big chunk of the already high UK £ cost.
Will see how it all plays out (and how long I can resist!).
