Just got my quote, but I feel that I should let people know that the other sales thread got me a better laptop for cheaper. I HIGHLY SUGGEST calling Dell and getting to a US sales agent because they will give you a better deal!

I do appreciate your hard work Allan!

One last question: how long is the quoted price good for if I don't order right away?

Tried calling in several times but didn't really get a great quote on the M17x. Nothing close to what one of my friends were able to spec off of AAFES. Any tips other than what has been described in the other thread regarding calling in for quotes? They are also able to link the phone number to the quotes I have in the system, how do you guys explain the multiple calls?

Hi I will be buying 2 maybe 3 alienware/sager within 3 depending on discounts
    Either
    2 m17x r4 and 1 m14r2
    or
    1 m17xr4 and m18xr2 when 7970 XF come out
Anyways is it cheaper (better discount) when I order more laptops?

Allan offered me $200 off of a $1,550 M14X R2. What kind of a discount did your Dell US Sales Agent get you? Am I any better off going with an educational discount?

Its like 2% I believe. It varies based on systems with most of the Alienware systems at 2%.

I am not going to share my discount with everyone but I will say that Allan wants your business and is a great help. He has been covered in requests for quotes since this thread was originally created and has stated numerous times that he is working for a day turn around. If you have not heard from him or any of his assistants resend your email in the format requested. I will go through Allan for any of my future Alienware product purchases.

So a quick question for those who have gotten quotes...on the How to Save $$$ thread many people seemed to get 20-25% or even a little more off their systems pretty regularly. Can anyone who's gotten a quote recently confirm if the quotes are in that range? Are there any prohibitions against sharing the discount amount on the forum? Seems the How to Save $$$ has kind of died yet this thread is going strong...so I wonder...

    Hey Guys,

Didn't see this forum before I ordered my m14x (with pretty much the all the highest specs you can get) three days ago, wishing I had though!

Is there any way to get a discount or credit for future Dell/AW purchases? Every $ I can save would really count! I am actually considering cancelling my order and ordering again.

    Thanks!

    P.S. Ordered from Canada

Came out to be about 17.5% for me more or less. I believe it depends largely on what you include in the config as far as what he can do. He does do whatever he can to help us.

Allan just replied to me a little while ago and said he was super busy but that I'd have my quote within 24 business hours. From what he said, he is totally swamped but they are putting together a team to assist with this.

I think we all just have to have a little patience. Allan seems like a great guy who will do all he can to win our business.

Hi guys, Yes I'm here. I'm working alone today, sent everyone the same email actually. I'm hoping that within 24hrs Ill catch up with the weekend surge.

Juan will be coming in tomorrow to help, I am also training a day time agent to help around during the day.

Its really nice that everyone has been patient. I did notice someone claim 5 days waiting. That's too much, please resend me your quote and state that you have waited 5 days. I will push it to the front line.

    Ok, back to work....

Luckily I'm not in a rush, but like everyone I am excited to get the new machine, these things are amazing. Thanks for offering your services to us here. And thanks to everyone else for the great information on the new GPU.

Quote request sent, I am interested what kind of deal us canadians can get especially on a really nice m18x, I am due for a kick gaming laptop for when I am on the road :)

That being said can anybody recommend a really good docking station that works well with an m18x, ideally something i can hook additional monitors and such up to when i am at home?

Hi guys, just to let you know, I will be here working on all the delayed quotes. So I wanted to thank you for being patient, i will be sending as many quotes as possible. Also if you have questions regarding configurations, we are getting requests of this type so you keep sending them as well.

PS: Please do not send PMs as we are not allowed to respond to them, continue directing your requests to Allan_Mora at dell dot com

I'm on the fence about making another purchase from Dell, as my previous experience with the M1530 purchase really left a bad taste in my mouth regarding both the product itself and customer service.

Hopefully these representatives can renew the faith that outsourcing customer service broke. =-)

About how long did it take for him to respond? I'd like to order a new laptop within the week and XoticPC's prices are extremely tempting as they are far lower than Alienware's on an equivalent system.

I want to give Dell another opportunity to retain me as a customer, but as the old saying goes "Fool me once, shame on you, Fool me twice, shame on me" and being a medical student I just don't have the extra time or funds to be taken on another "ride" like I was with the M1530.

Basically, I sent in my request for a quote using the new format and got it the next day from Juan who's helping Allan do the quotes. I waited a few days before deciding to order at which time I forwarded the quote to Allan (same email). He replied back after a couple hours. I asked him to call me the next day and that's what he did.

For me personally, AW isn't all that more expensive. The one I ordered in my sig came out to be $1964. A comparable Clevo would be the NP9170 with:

    3720QM
    8GB 1333 (this is a -$50 special)
    7970M
72% NTSC color gamut screen. This is still not as good as the M17x's screen, but it is matte which is nice.
    Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

That comes out to be $1908, a mere $56 difference. $56 gets me a much better keyboard, bigger battery, and an HDMI input among other things. Also keep in mind that price does not include sales tax. If I happened to be a Nebraskan, it would be even more expensive than the AW.

I'm ready to buy the minute I get the quote. And it's a loaded M14x minus the Bluray. I did get the "24 business hour" email on Monday and noticed that Allen's work hours are 4pm - 11pm, so keep that in mind if you are waiting.

so if i sent in the quote Monday to Allan whats the usual turn around, I only ask as I need to order soon so I can get my m18x by mid-june, if it usually takes a bit might just call and try talking to reps and see how I can make out.

He says 2 day turn-around, but because of all the flood of emails, I think my first email may have been lost in the shuffle. The good news is that the estimated delivery date has stayed the same from last week to now, the end of May. You could try and call in and get a good discount, if I don't get my quote after today that's what I may end up doing. But then I'd get this amazing quote from Allen the next day (that's how my luck works)

saved $426 (desktop) on 3rd model from the left (canadian Aurora R4)

I find it's easier to save on notebooks.
