Hopefully Dell realizes that NBR members are more demanding (both in terms of expecting more performance, and expecting more value, i.e. discounts) than the general public. I have a feeling, however, that the discounts seen with Allan are not going to be available now. If that is the case, I totally agree that other manufacturers become more appealing.
To any admin: Is it allowable for members to post their deals obtained in this manner in the other thread about saving money on a new system? If not, it would seem somewhat counter-intuitive. -
I didn't get the impression they were offering unique pricing or special deals within this thread. They could of course but not seeing any promise to do so. Certainly no offer to try and match/compete with other brands sourced differently.
Not that you shouldn't seek a good deal, its just that something struck me as odd here with the expectations.
I agree with NBR folks being demanding but the public at large will be much more price sensitive IMO. -
Wasn't expecting magic or anything. I think the gift cards are considered their discounts. I would have been happy with $100 off, which isn't terribly much on a $3500 system. We don't need gift cards since anything we really need we usually get with the system.
However parroting out the same pricing that I can do myself and not even caring if they made the sale was kinda insulting. It's cheaper to just get the system from xoticpc than bothering to call at this point considering tax. -

Not going to post details, but taking to the rep from Rachid was definitely a good deal. As soon so have a minute I'll be calling to make payment arrangements.

I believe he's off for weekends so check back in Monday.

Worked with Rachid and Tarik and got what I feel is an amazing deal on an m18x. Hopefully it shows up early as I'll be leaving on the expected delivery date for two weeks.
-
Anyone capable of detailing how the ordering process works? (Namely what happens when Rev/Rachid gets back to you with a quote and later calls). Getting a laptop soon for graduation but it will be my technologically illiterate but loving relatives ordering the computer so I want to make sure they know everything they need from me.
-
Sent you a PM, Rachid and Rev, requesting assistance in my dilemma and quoting options.

Got you PM, we'll get back to you tomorrow morning.
Thanks
Rachid
Thanks
Rachid
In your PM, please include your first and last name, customer number if you have one, shipping address, email address and daytime contact number if this is for a system quote. For Canada orders, PMs will normally go to me, and for US customers, Rev. Also post some sort of sent you a PM comment on this thread. If you need any other kind of assistance related to sales or order process, please PM one of us, and explain your situation. We may not be able to solve all customer care and tech support issues, but we will refer you to the appropriate team to help when we can.
Please feel free to post any other questions or concerns you may have. I will do my best to keep up. Thanks. -

Hello this initiative is great improvement to the norm of try to speak to Dell reps who know little of the Alienware division of Dell and do not provide accurate quotes or information. So this initiative is nice to see. As per experience no one knows Alienware better than those of Dell whom are direct from Alienware.
I have to thank a member who has not included himself in this thread but has aided in Technical aspects of Alienware @NBR. A special thanks to AW-Federico. I truly appreciate your assistance and hope to continue to have a open communication with you in the future. He has assisted in resolution to system issues which extended over a very long period of time on and off of varying issues. Thanks to Federico I have a system that does not have hardware issues and runs as designed. Alienware has been very supportive through all my issues. I have had 3 reps and before that I had spoke to Dell not Alienware. Once I had contact with actual Alienware reps I had outstanding support from that point on. For that I am truly greatful.
AW-Federico futher more is and was able to assist me in an inquiry of parts purchase and again I am truly happy with the chance to have such great help.
Thank you Alienware and thank you reps who have helped me especially the most recent a level 3 tech AW-Federico.
I will be joining in the discussion if possible on improving this thread and Alienwares support through this forum/ hopefully more websites in the future (atleast a gateway elsewhere for those who aren't here to reach out just the same... maybe an email system) -
Hi Dell guys -
Great job in this forum.
Quick Q, are the quotes in USD only?
Will you be able to help us if it's for other Dell locations (Asia Pacific, etc..)? -
It's great to have assistance from Alienware Sales Org individuals in a forum such as this. I have some technical questions before I request a quote for either the M17x or M18x.
Does the M17x (i7-3720QM) support DDL3L type memory (Dual Voltage 1.35/1.5V low voltage)? I realize that the PC has to be compatible to run at 1.35V or else it will run at 5V. I'm assuming that compatibility as indicated on the processor's spec sheet, but I wanted to verify. The i7-3720QM indicates the memory types DDR3/L/-RS 1333/1600. I'm interested in knowing what memory is actually used in the system (no matter what quantity), as well. The lower voltage option is a more expensive option, but is of interest to me.
I also wanted to verify what memory is compatible with the M17x:
204-pin SODIMM
1600MHz DDR3 (PC3-12800)
I'm assuming that the M17x comes with two hard drive bays regardless of whether one or two drives are purchased. In a system such as this it's, important to have the capability of upgrading the system. With that in mind, I have a couple of questions...
Are the hard drives connected to a SATA II or SATA III bus interface? Please indicate if either one of the drives bus interface differs from the other.
-SATA II (3 Gb/s)
-SATA III (6Gb/s)
Is there a constraint for maximum hard drive size for any oneport? -
Ashelyou3,

I know allot of you have reached out to Rachid and I about the M17x and M18x with the GTX 680m GPU and I am happy to say that today is the day. At 2pm CST we added the card to the configuration and have already received some pretty awesome reviews with it. Lead times may be a little extended right now as they just turned the Sku's on for the sales team so expect some delays in the quotes for that specific configuration. Otherwise feel free to reach out to me and we can get someone to work one together for you as soon as the SKU's can be attached.
Just a few of the reviews so far if you're interested

I'm just hoping that for those outside the US/Canada don't get the insane price hikes that we have seen in the past. Last time round in the UK, it was £1200gbp for 580m sli in an M18x and it was $1200usd for you guys.....that made the cost to us in the Uk equivalent to around $1900usd.
If the same pricing mentality goes on again, we are looking at £1100gbp or around $1700usd which is absurd given they are the same thing.
I hope I am wrong here, only UK website prices will prove so, but if it is the case that these cards are THAT price, Dell has some serious pricing misalignment going on and it ain't fair in the least..... -

Look forward to your reply. Thanks! -
even it not just related to Dell, all other companies electronic toys were at top of mountain
-
1200 * 1,2 = 1440, not 1900. -
steviejones133 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Nope - you just forgot to convert the initial cost in the UK from £1200 into US$ - that works out at around $1900usd. That was the cost regarding the 580m Sli option for the M18x when they came out.
Now if we were looking at a "fair" pricing for the new 680m sli, it should be something like £850gbp in the UK, using the formula that if it costs $1100usd, add 20% for UK Duty etc and then convert into GBP. Therefore £1100usd +20% ($220usd) = $1320usd, which is the equivalent of roughly £850gbp at Today's conversion rates.
Normally, all that happens is that Dell change the $ to a £ and stick it up on Dell UK - what I am saying here is that 680m sli is $1100usd but if pricing strategies follow historic trends, they will cost £1100gbp, which is the equivalent of around £1750usd.....around 60% more than what it costs in the US.
My point is that a 60% markup is alot more than required to cover any additional "overhead costs" for Dell to supply us with the same hardware at a reasonable price. -

steviejones133 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Gotcha - I must have misunderstood your comment but we are "singing from the same hymn sheet" lol - no way on earth that when the 580m sli launched a while back, they should have been priced at the equivalent of $1900usd (£1200gbp) - thats was around $700usd more because of our import charges??? - rubbish! - dunno what kinda of pricing genius' work for Dell but that isnt anywhere near the 20% it costs us to import stuff into the UK to cover Customs fees etc....
