My man Tim is out of the office for the weekend so if this question isn't answered by the time he gets in on Monday I will make sure that it is.

Getting ready to head out for the day a little early guys but I will be back in Monday morning same Bat time Same Bat channel.

I got all PM's in my inbox squared away so if you send me one after this post I will get to it as soon as I hit the office again.

Have a great weekend and since this is an Alienware thread feel free to hit me up on Steam this weekend if your up for some gaming.

    GrimmDecision,

    Take care everyone,
    Rev.

@Rev Eddy G should be able to tell you when 680 launches in CA. Just shoot him an email. He should get to it over the weekend.

Buying online with paypal. Do you guys charge sales tax with that method of payment? If so, is there anyway to get out of it, because it might just make my build too expensive.

Yeah, unfortunately we have to charge tax based off of where we are shipping it and since we have a retail presence in every state ( Walmart, Staples, Best Buy ) we have to charge it. Hope we can still help you out.

No worries, I'll look for the second PM. :)
Man I hate the waiting game so much when it comes to new tech, that's why you guys always see me destroying the boxes when we do a new product video. :D

Hey everyone, hope you had a great weekend, I've got an event here in Nashville that we are getting ready for this morning so it may delay my process just a little bit, but rest assured I will get your quotes out ASAP. Drop me a PM if you need anything.

    Hi guys,

I was wondering if you know some Alienware sales assistant in Spain. It's a bit expensive without discount... :(

Do you know when will be available the 680m in Europe??

    Thanks!

I am very excited to get the ball rolling on buying a new laptop. I've been doing research for a long time now and it's taken me a while to get settled on which one I want. I still have a few questions but I think I have enough figured out I can really start nailing down some numbers and should be ready to pull the trigger on a laptop this week.

I'll send you a PM with details, thanks ahead of time :D

You should have something from me already, thanks for reaching out.

Not sure about the next months promotions, they do change constantly. Weekly and monthly at least, And don't generally let me know ahead of time. We can keep our eyes peeled though.

You should have a list of answers from me already to your questions, let me know if you need me to follow up.

I can tell you that I see promotions update a lot on Wednesdays and then the standard cycle can be weekly and monthly as well. so there are tons of promos circulating at any given time both online and offline and in print. I unfortunately don't know what is going to be coming up.

I just got done combing through all of my morning PM's and everyone that hit me up should have a reply. if not my apologies and go ahead and hit me back, I promise you aren't bothering me when you do that. I'm here if you need me guys.

PS. i can't wait to talk to Donnie tomorrow about the new XPS systems. Check me out on G+ if you want to try and get into the hangout +Rev Davis.

    Have a great morning guys.

    hi,

I just finished my order of M17X with a sales rep based on some helpful thread on here, I know currently there's a $195 off Alienware laptop and another $50 off for $1499 or higher purchase promo code too. I called in and was offered some student discount with 2 day faster shipping, about $400 worth of gift cards and the sales rep knocked another $50 off 3 years advanced warranty. Speaking with the sales rep definitely helps, and try to get hold of a US based sales rep as they usually will able to do a little more discount.

This is gonna be my first none Mac laptop, I was going to get the new Retina display MBP, but after seeing the specs I felt like being robbed by Apple if I buy it, so I decided to try out Alienware. I hope it's worth the risk :)

However I am unable to read the future I can speak to the trends that I've seen int he past instead. Could be a good chance that there will be a more aggressive offer through MPP. Could also be a chance there are going to be more aggressive offers offline as well. These systems generally trend down after launch, Not because they are new so they should be expensive and then they aren't anymore but because we get so many orders in meaning we order a larger order of parts meaning we get a discount on the parts meaning we pass it on to you. So patience grasshopper. There is always a chance.

Rachid@Dell is my counterpart for Canada on this thread and will be more than happy to help out.

I just checked and yes the XPS 15 does have an MPP setup for it. Looks like you are good to go.

Do you guys also cover the XPS line? (More specifically the new XPS 15)

I'm asking because this thread sits in the Alienware section.

Anyway, glad to see you, specially since for once Canada is not left out from a pilot program. (I'm speaking generally here, not Dell)

    Hey guys,

I just got my M17x ordered (680M, 3D Bundle), worked with a representative that Rev put me in contact with.

There was a minor delay in contact (my fault), but everything on their end was prompt and professional. All in all took maybe half an hour from start to finish, and I walked away feeling like we came to a mutually beneficial deal. I probably could have gotten more if I had pushed, but he went out of his way to meet my (realistic) top price so I was more than satisfied.

It's a great program that you guys have started here, and for me at least it made settling on an Alienware that much easier when I was pricing out systems and trying to decide what I wanted. Thanks Rev (and to my AW rep, who will rename nameless for his own safety)!

Awesome, you will hear from me this morning with a reply.

I don't believe we have any at the moment since the systems just launched but we will keep our eyes on it and let you know if any new promos hit with it.

Exactly what I wanted to hear this morning, Thanx. :D

I just got logged on and will be combing through PM's this morning. There are a few more than usual so if you sent me a PM only recently or last night it may take a minute to get to it, but rest assured I will get to it.

    HELP SOS!! LOL

I need help deciding if the AW laptops are for me or if I should stick with XPS. I'm not a gamer, but it seems as though AW would still meet my needs. Plus, I'm having a chick moment and really prefer the "look" of the AW and all its pretty colors vs the XPS. ;) (Die hard X-Files fan...)

    My uses/needs:
First, I'm a heavy user. Usually on from 7am-12pm. I use the laptop for both work and personal use throughout the day, as I work from home. So, I'm always multi-tasking and have multiple programs open at once. I use a lot of Microsoft Office, Internet, picture and video editing/viewing, movies, music, etc. So, speed, space, display, and sound are all important. The other big thing is I want to build something that's (hopefully) going to last more than 2-3yrs.

I'll buy a Dell regardless, just trying to decide between XPS and AW... any help would be great!!

I was wondering if these tactics work for non us dell locations ...I recently moved to Japan and I was planning to order an m18x through alienware Japan...the configuration I have is about 550,000 yen and u would really like some discounts to knock he price down. Its difficult as it is because of he language barrier but does anyone know if its worth my time trying?

Is there a Rep at dell jp with good English skills that can help a brother out?

I'll try. XPS gen 2, inspiron e1705, XPS 14 L401x, and now using M11xR1. For your usage plans the AW is overkill in the sense that XPS will get the job done just fine. Deciding factors will be the extras if any, lighting (looks overall), and warranty.

I am one of those that thinks that for non-fanboy/girl buyers the warranty is important. The days of having 10yo laptops is gone IMO and anything that gives you a bad vibe about your purchase hurts the future market. There ARE issues that in my opinion are higher in number on systems today. Brand is not an issue.

Base warranty is 1year and is quite good on most Dell products. If you have an issue on the 13th month your next post will be "screw Dell I'm never buying again" or some such thing that seems to happen here. So, I recommend topping up for 3 years NBD given your work requirement. Bonus if you can get uber accident coverage

Others will say warranty is a waste or over priced. This can be true if not used :) Do NOT buy at retail outlet then add warranty later - its VERY expensive and certainly not worth it.

Need help rationalizing? Easy: you do not "need" SSD or 16gb of ram. Ditto for fancy cases or gaming mouse. Easy to add all that later anyway.

CPU: get as much CPU as you can justify if planning a 3+ year run in a laptop. See rationalizing above.
GPU: for you probably doesn't matter. If it does you already know what you need
LCD: if using external this matters less, even size. For the time you spend I suggest getting external screen. If not, then skip the smaller AW options.
Temps: monitor on a reg basis. heat kills.

Just wanted to give a big thank you to Rachid and Tarik who helped me out on my order today. I was a little disillusioned after talking to a Dell Canada sales rep who first offered me me a whole $62 off of my pushing $3000 order then said that if he got manager approval would be able to bump that up to $77!

I can now say that I am a happy owner-to-be of a shiny new M17x thanks to these guys!

I have incredibly similar uses with my AW and it rocks them out like they are nothing. I'm using the previous version of the M14x and do a ton of editing when we travel through Adobe Premier (I use an Auroura R4 when I get home ) If you want to send me a PM I'd be more than happy to help with a selection on any system you would like to look at.

As for your chick moment I think its pretty awesome that I can match my Laptops color scheme with my shoes, just sayin. :D

Let me know how I can help,
    Rev.

Absolutely my pleasure, always love seeing these first thing in the mornings.

Just got done running through all of my PM's, so if you haven't checked for a reply from me go ahead and do so. I'm here all day guys, hit me up.

If power is the only factor, than the choice is obvious... Go AW, even if it's overkill.

But here, I'm speaking as a senior computer engineering student, and believe me, for the kind of work you're describing, a XPS (L521x since it's Full HD for your video work) will do just fine for a few years (I'm guessing 3-4 years before even considering to upgrade)... Even the new Inspiron Special Edition would do just fine for a good while (guessing 2-3 years), but I still suggest XPS to be on the safe side. Beside, the new XPS has been made to last, quite sturdy and solid built. For multitasking, consider having a quad core. it will help for that!

For example, I've been using reliably my Inspiron for 6 years now (powered on on average 20 hours a day, every day of the week), and it's only been since a year that I've been considering replacing it (so 5 years of being happy for my work)... Granted, even though it's called an Inspiron, it now has XPS hardware in it.

After 6 years, I'm really in need now to upgrade, even though it's still working great! And I'm gonna be doing more power intensive work than you... And I consider AW way overkill for my need!

    Thanks for your thoughts GN!

I'm with you. I've always bought a 3yr warranty with my Dell laptops. My Inspiron 700m made it 6yrs through that. Plus, the few problems I did have were resolved within 24hrs through get CS and local techs.

And I definitely need help rationalizing! lol I'm the type that "wants" to upgrade everything, but know I don't "need" to. lol

Thanks for all your thoughts, it will help! :D

    Sounds sweet Rev!

Is there an e-mail address that I can contact you at? I still don't have 5 posts (yet), so it won't let me PM. If not, I'll hit you up as soon as I get "approved" lol. I'd love any help with selecting a laptop!

Ok good, I'm not the only one that thinks coordinating colors is important! lmao I was like I can do red/green for Christmas, black/orange for Halloween... lol

    Thanks for the help jeremfg!

I'm kinda of the mind that I'd rather it be overkill than think in 2-3yrs that I wish I had splurged. Maybe I'm crazy, lol.

I liked the Inspirons too... my 700m has last 6yrs since I upgraded everything possible and had the great warranty. I know I probably can't expect that this time around, but I'd like to get close. lol There's actually nothing wrong with the 700m now, just sllllooww by todays standards.

I'll definitely get the quad core and plenty of RAM (what I'm seriously lacking now).

Yeah, I totally understand what you mean... Didn't I even put an XPS graphic card in my Inspiron even if it didn't fit out of the box? oh yead, I did :D I'm nostalgic to the days we could upgrade the hardware in our laptops. Now, everything is soldered, and you're almost lucky if you can upgrade the HDD...

Even in the configurator, you no longer have much choices at buying time... Dell is turning away from what made them great in my eyes!

At least, they keep giving us quality products that last longer than the industry's average, are one of the most eco-friendly manufacturer out there, and have splendid customer support.

It's enough to keep me as a customer for now, but the margin is becoming thinner and thinner, considering all the new companies that began trying to fill the void Dell has left wide open!
