hello to all that are interested in buying an Alienware,

since I also followed a similar thread on here to take the plunge to buy my first Alienware, I must warn you guys that the process has been nothing short of a nightmare. Please view this thread and decide if you are willing to deal with it:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m17x/630192-m17x-order-status-discussion-part-4-a-243.html

taking 4 to 5 weeks to build a laptop is beyond ridiculous, and the worst part is the delay notification from Dell offers NOTHING to explain why the delay happened, and contacting the reps usually end with same answer of "We dont have the tool to get the details on the delay," it's pretty laughable for a company as big as Dell that they dont have the tool to pinpoint your order status issues.

Rev....Adam....YOU are the Men..err..Aliens! I mean seriously, thanks a lot for making my purchase such a great experience. And to think I was seriously considering Sager, pfft!! Now, before someone jumps at me with fire..Sager is a great product, but in my context these guys were amazing to bring me a great AW with a great deal. If you are unsure to pull the trigger just hit Rev a PM, I mean I'm pretty sure you won't regret it. Adam was really cool, and went above and beyond. Thanks guys, can't say it enough!

Now I would like to address funkybudda's statement. If you are in rush to receive your machine for any reason, budda's right.. currently you'll wait around 3-4 weeks most likely because of yield problems with Nvidia and Amd. Sager also is facing this problem with Nvidia's 680m on backorder with ETA of July 27 as of now to start processing their queue. While I do agree with funkybudda and others in the same page that you should get a reason for delay, I definitely don't think it should throw any one off to get a great deal for an AW. In short, make Contact...consult with Rev/team get your deal and ask about timing if you are in rush, THEN make your decision. I hope this helps some to make their mind.

I'm right there with ya... I'm in the middle of week 5 myself. With seemingly no one that responds in a timely fashion, actually cares whether they keep your order, or (how likely) step up and give authoritative answers.

    Frustrating as hell.

Hopefully one of the fine reps in this thread can help me out. I am wondering when I can expect my 5% and $200 student promo gift card from my recent order? The disclaimer says between 10-20 days and its been exactly 20 days since my order tomorrow.

I have the same question as Oblast, awaiting my gift card. My rep however told me beforehand that in actually it might take 20-30 days instead of the 10-20 days stated. Still waiting nonetheless. Too bad they don't ship it with the order. Hoping to use it to buy a laptop backpack before school starts.

I wouldn't wait around on that. When I purchased my M17x R1, at the time they were saying up to 8 weeks before I received two $75 cards from the promotion. I ended up forgetting about the cards up until like 24 weeks (6 months- they never came). I called about them and all they could do was credit my account for $100 because they said it wasn't in their system. No biggie really for me. After like 35 days I would just give them a call if you haven't received it.

That would be terrible O_O...I saved it in my quote so I can show them if they say it's not in their systems. Sigh...I really begin to question why they don't ship it with the order.

    Hello everyone.
In regards to reps, today I spoke with 3 of them over the phone, following the negotiating guidelines in the forum with almost no success.
I am ordering a m18xr2 specced to 5007usd, did get the upgraded shipping and 50usd off but thats about it.
@rev Do you thing you can know a couple hundred off so I dont have to wait for my next payment and get this over with?
As a long time non active lurker, I cannot pm so please feel free to reply on this thread as I will probably be f5 mashing all day long :)

    Hello again,

Just to let all of you who pmed me know, I grew tired of waiting for a rep to call me and contacted Ted at hidevolution, will get my m18xr2 for 4200 including shipping, and will be delivered wednesday at latest. Hope the 7900's xfire wont cause me much problems as they didnt have the 680 sli and it was the only change I made, apart from the free thermal repaste and thee green onion screen protector installed :)

Hey everyone, Just went through all my morning PM's. I see a ton of requests on the thread so feel free to PM me and I'll get on top of it for you. If you sent me a PM you should have received one back but in case you didn't go ahead and hit me up, I'll be online sporadically today and am happy to help where I can. For those of you having issues with the 240W PSU's hit me up with 240W in the subject so I can see about getting it turned around for you in a timely manner. Any other issues just let me know.

Hey everyone, Hope you had a great weekend. Personally I spent mine playing "The Secret World" developed by Funcom. It's a pretty cool, New MMO that has a few unique features. If you haven't checked it out do so. It's 14.99 a mo so far and starts you with 30 days free. We'll see how it progresses.

Anyway, I just got done going through all my PM's this morning, so if you haven't gotten a response from me go ahead and re-send your PM and I'll get you taken care of.

For US customers we have made a transition using a different inbox for some communication so you may see emails from US_SM@dell for your quotes but rest assured those are real people ( from my team ) sending them to you. Just remember to send your initial PM's to me so I can filter them to a direct individual instead of sending quote requests directly to the new inbox

Thanks for all of your patience everyone and let me know how I can help.

    Rev.

Yeah I was just made aware of that by one of our guys.

So it looks like we are experiencing some technical difficulties for at least the next 24-48 hours. This does not mean that I am not accepting quote requests however it will be very delayed over the next 2 days. Again this is for the US customers only and I will continue to be on the boards if you need anything.

Thanks everyone for your patience, and reach out to me if you have any questions.

So happy right now! Was told last Wednesday that my order would ship in 24-48 hours or at the latest today. Got a call today from my case manager who informed me that my order has been cancelled because one of the parts isn't available :D He tells me that the order will be automatically re-issued within 48 hours with an upgraded part. No reason not to believe him right?

Let me know if you need my help with anything, I'm more than happy to assist.

Hope everyone is doing ok today, If not and I can help let me know.

Like I posted yesterday we are in the middle of a transition on our team and there will be delays for orders quoted inside the US. I'm expecting this to continue on into tomorrow but it should be cleared up by then.

My apologies for any delays on your quotes during this time but as the team grows we will sometimes run into these issues.

If you are wanting a quote and need it within a specific time frame please let me know and I will do my best but I am operating without my right arm right now with my team so busy finishing other projects to free up more time for my NBR friends.

Hit me up, delays or not I am online and will reply.

Thanks again for your patience everyone,
    Rev.

    Hello Everyone,

When do the featured promotions on the Alienware site change?

I was told monthly offers change on the 1st of each month and weekly offers change Wednesday evenings, true?

Any featured promotions for the M18x coming up?

    Thank you,
    Monnie

I'll be leaving the office early today (around 12 PM CST) so I won't be able to forward the quote requests over to the US team after that time today.I'll be back on in the morning (around 6AM CST )

Thanks everyone and keep the PM's coming,

Hello, I'd like to order an XM heatsink (0MXJ5) for M18X R2 and my local Dell (Austria) says that simply ordering the part itself is not possible. Any help with that would be much appreciated. The part apparently costs some 19 EUR. They want me to pay another 150 EUR for a technician although I am perfectly able to replace the part myself.

Worse case is I get a friend from the US to order me one and then send it to me to Europe. This is what I've done getting a 2-pipe HS for R1. That's too much hassle with that really. The thing is that, as I've just read Dell terms & conditions, there is no single word there explicitly forbidding me from replacing heatsinks in the laptop (or doing other things), so to me this looks like a stunt to make me pay extra for the technician.

Dell in the US will ship you the parts if you wanna self repair more often than not, so I'm not sure why they are not helping you. If you need help ordering a part let me know and I'd be happy to help.
