I would really be thankful for that. Especially that there are no detailed F3 benchmarks for OCZ around. And it seems that this game has a huge chance to be game of the year.

    Really 60 FPS!!!???

Thank You very very much for that. Hate to be a pain, but do You have any account for World in Conflict in game built benchamrk, and Stalker (the first one)?

Don't want to bother You with the screenies, just any close info will do.

Once again thanks a lot for Fallout 3.

I'm downloading 3dmark 06 right now, I'm also going to do a Counter Strike Stress test for both the stock driver and new driver. I don't have many games loaded on yet but ill see what other games I can do benchies on.
Id race you if you didn't live across the country I'm in California!

ALSO for Fallout 3 you might want to consider Downloading the HD Texture pack

Once again E-wrecked, thanks for your hard work.

I just got done installing your inf. Had a quick question for you. After installation, the screen appears to be a little darker than what it was. I have maxed out the brightness but its still darker than before. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Update: Odd behaviour. Gotta love Vista. Brightness has restored itself. Its peachy now. Thank you!

Will keep you posted on game performance soon as I have a few minutes off from work to get some actual gametime in.

Im the only person that has issues with the M17's brightness ? :(

Ive set my windows brightness at the middle, -0.10 the gamma and -9 the brightness in CCC to be able to look at the screen for more than 10 mins without getting dizzy. Everyone else is just used to the lcd screens ? :p

ok..so I'm hoping someone can give me a hand here. The .inf I first posted for download, dubbed beta version was a Megaupload link.. I'm trying to get a copy of the original .inf I posted. Hopefully Axman, Coolmine, fusion, ichime..hopefully someone downloaded it. Please, let me know if you did and post a link for me to download. I incidentally deleted it, and needed to compare code. :) Thank you, and +rep to whoever finds it.

Hey E, you remember what the file was called? I probably have it.

Coolmine, have you FN+F8 to max brightness, and are you on the High Performance setting in Vista? After I install a new driver, my log-in screen is 1/4 of the screen, and my brightness isn't so bright. All I did to get rid of that was reboot though. I'm sure you've tried that.

I downloaded your lazy person package. I do have that .inf though. I'm just gonna PM it to you.

Err, nevermind, it's too many characters.

    Here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=FJ3Z60E6

    Hope it's the right one.

    Sorry 'bout that, E.

I'm using the latest driver from the ATI website modded with MM. Does yours provide better performance? I'll check for you on the .inf. It would be helpful to know what your download was called because my download folder is packed with crap.

Was this what it was called?

Which one ? :p The first you made for the 32bit systems ? Cause thats the only one i have atm :p

Yeap tried the Fn buttons but if you reduce the brightness without changing the other settings, gamma, contrast etc it looks really ugly :p Vista in on high performance yeap.

Have another weird issue. Ive heard a lot of people saying that at this resolution its hard to read text etc. At first i thought it will be like the laptop i used to have, 1920x1200 native resolution but setting it lower didnt affect the way things look that much. So basically now i have to run windows in native resolution with the m17 and text in the internet and other programs are barely visible since fonts are too small. At the moment im just resizing every fonts that can be resized, for eg. Control + scroll in firefox, fonts settings in programs etc, is there another way to make things more visible ? :p Thats the only 2 "problems" i have atm :p Hard to get used to that difference and since i spend a lot of time in front of a pc i need to be in that way so i can look at the screen for a lof of hours without my eyes getting tired :p

There's some options in vista to use large icons and such, under appearance settings. Or, don't run at native.. Maybe 1600.1200 or 1680.1050. That is all I can think of. That's the only drawback to such a high native res.

You'll get used to it, and once you do, it'll be hard to do anything less than 1900/1600x1200

Finally getting around to downloading these drivers. Haven't installed them yet as I'm at work, but E-wrecked, I did notice your friend's host temporarily died as I attempted to download.

If you or anyone needs anything hosted in the future, I have a premium Rapidshare and Megaupload account, so anything sent there will never expire. Lemme know. I could use the download points honestly.

Launch a game, set the resolution to something else expect 1920x1200, if it works then you know you installed them the right way :)

Ok.. I uploaded new zip. The install should go smoothe. Just run setup.exe and install custom, make sure you have CCC installed or set to install. If it still isn't working lemme know and I'll try to help. If u have the time, spend five minutes to clean install cause it makes a big difference. I'll be online in about 30 minutes if u need further assistance.

E-wrecked - installed your new inf for Vista x64. Works sweet. Tried out Crysis at all kinds of odd screen res' and everything went fine. Did have a spot of trouble doing a clean install of the new inf initially, but I was able to clear it up.

FYI - after the first install attempt, my system started showing three 3870's installed. After the second install attempt, CCC was having issues opening. After the third, everything cleared up.

No problems to speak of.. Simple procedure. Check it out.

    1) Open Device Manager and Remove Old Drivers, do not use device manager to also "Remove Driver Related Software"

    2) Open Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel and remove the ATI Technologies Software Suite

    3) Reboot, and tap F8 like nutzo on boot to enable Safe Mode option

    4) From Safe Mode admin account, check to see VGA Graphics adapter properly installed.. if so see step 5. If not, repeat step 1.

    5) Run Driver Sweeper and check the ATI Display box, then Analyze & Clean..I usually do it a 2nd time just cause. There should only be one entry after you run it the 2nd time, and it's a registry entry. Ignore that.

    6) Reboot - Check to see that Standard VGA Appears in Device Manager - It's ok if Vista reports they're not functioning properly. If VGA appears, move to step 7 and if not, move to step 3.

    7) Now, unzip the file package you downloaded.. run setup.exe under the main Driver Folder and install as "Custom" making sure the CCC is set to install, and also the Video Driver is recognized and will install. I disabled WoW and Cat Registration on my install..no need for the bloatware.

    8) Should install clean, and smoothe..and when finished prompt you to reboot. *ta duh*

I'll add this to Original Post just cause I spent 5 minutes typing it.. hopefully this clears up most of the part where I stress a clean install.

    Side note; Download DriverSweeper Here

PLEASE; Do not PM me about install issues if you aren't doing a clean install every time - Actually, please don't download the driver package if not doing a clean install of my drivers. Thank you.

Just a simple request :) I love to give back to the community, but only if you're doing your part and following the guide. If so, then you won't have any issues. Then you won't need to ask for help. But, if you run into an issue and you followed every step properly.. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM Love ya guys! :D

man i dont know if its me or the computer.
now i cant even get it to install your 8.12 drivers at all...
i uninstall it in normal mode, then i go to uninstall/remove programs and uninstall ati catalyst install manager (bc there is no ati technologies to uninstall) then i go to safe mode and do a driver sweep.

when i reinstall its like they install aain on there own. then i delete them, do the driver sweep, then do your zip.

then it doesnt work and my screens starts freaking out.

i dont get why a couple of days ago i got it to work, but i cant now with the new .inf zip

everytime i do a driver sweep, when i reboot the computer the 3870s reinstall themselves.
    could this be the problem?
    is there anyway around it?

    msparrow88,
Had the same problems as you described. But after using Driver sweeper twice, and CC cleaner once i was able to install successfully. The other thing i did when uninstalling the original drivers i checked the other soft wear box.

What do you mean by this? There is no Remove Old Drivers option that I have ever seen in Device Manager, only an Uninstall Driver option on the device properties.

Yea.. That's what it means. Uninstall them thru device manager. Sorry, I should have been more clear. But I figured that there's plenty of references on how to clean install drivers.. And this thread is not meant to educate on that so I didn't focus on it. But, thanks for clearing that up.

My rig is outta battery, typing from iPhone. Sorry if I'm short. What u comparing to? Change Ccc settings around also. Geometry instancig, Cat AI, etc. They all affect performance. In FC2 I can gain ten FPS by swapping settings alone. Lemme know what u r running with less performance.

well actually earlier today i just loaded an image of my harddrive from a few days ago that had the perfect running CCC and your original 8.12 drivers.
im not going to try again to make the new ones work because they dont offer better performance right?

as for CCC settings, i have everything at default, which is how i believe i ran UT3 the other day

i havnt run a test yet as to whether games run well yet.
im still installing programs i lost because i didnt have them in the image

there's a hotfix available for that problem - but that's a desktop GPU - this driver is modded for the Mobility Cards. you can download the hotfix for 8.12 azuma and it resolves the problem you're talking about.

    Hallo E-wrecked,

    i have a other Problem,
    8.12:
i can only use 1 of the 2 Grafikboards he disable one and say fault code 43 if i go in the System Manager and look what is happend with this disabled board.

    8.11:
If i reboot the System i become a Blue Screen with the Information there is a Power Problem ore after 2 ore 3 trys to reboot he say there is a fault with a ATI driver file (driver moddet with Mobbility Modder)

so i only use the old original driver after this many Problems. I try many times both driver to install but i don´t have a stable system with both 8.11 ore 8.12.

Someone with Vista 64 and 2x3870 have running the 8.12 with all 2 Boards?

azuma, have you tried using the 8.12 zip on my original post? It is meant for these cards..download the zip and run setup.exe - should install just fine. I've got the dev id for ALL 3870s..whereas mobility modder may not have one and thus is causing you a problem. Just give my mod a try and see if it fixes the problem.

Download my Vista64 bit package here to save you the trouble: http://ewrecked.darksmileysystems.com/8-12_vista64_dd_ccc_wdm_enu_72276_ewrecked.zip
